With a new day in Iran upon me, I headed out for an epic, late-morning breakfast in Tehran! Come with me as I take you on an Iranian breakfast and bazaar tour in Tehran, Iran!
Joining me, as always, were my friends from Kootook Travel and Mr. Taster! We started off at an old-school cafe near Tajrish Square in the northern part of Tehran. He also came here with The Food Ranger, Trevor James!

They were making a Persian omelette with tomatoes and oil (omelette goje farangi), sunny-side up eggs (nimroo), and some barbari bread. We started with the nimroo and barbari bread, which was nice and fluffy.
We followed that with the omelette goje farangi, which contains roughly the same amount of tomatoes and eggs! They’re so fresh and rich, but also light!
We ended with some Persian tea served with rock candy, which you use to mix and sweeten it. Then, I headed into the kitchen and saw them cooking more eggs in little pots.
Adding red pepper to the eggs made them a lot spicier. They were great, as was the tea! Then, they brought us some lavash, which was thin and fluffy and was great for soaking up the rest of the tomatoes and oil.
Next, we headed to the restaurant next door, where they were making a mix of noodles, beans, chickpeas, vegetables, curd, , mint, and onion. They also made us some haleem topped with sugar, cinnamon, and sesame seeds. We had them with lavash.
The dish with the noodles, beans, and chickpeas had an amazing combination of flavors. I loved the lightness of the curd.
The haleem was very pasty, and adding the sugar and cinnamon made it sweeter and heartier! I loved the cinnamon. It was the most decadent haleem I’d ever had! I also liked the crunch of the sesame seeds!
I tried the haleem with the lavash. Mr. Taster told me people don’t really do that, but I liked it! Then, we headed to Tajrish Market nearby, where I tried a fruit called goje sabz, which was sour and tasty! I liked how meaty it was!
Near the entrance to the bazaar are lots of fruit and vegetable vendors. We saw some selling grape leaves, which they use to wrap dolmas! Then, we headed inside. It’s a great place to people watch.
Inside were people selling dates, spices, nuts, rose petals, lettuce, spinach, and garlic. Then, I found a vendor selling lots of pendants featuring the Evil Eye! I got some for my daughters and kept going.
Further on, we saw clothing and items for children, as well as more fruit. I found some white berries, which were very sweet!
Back outside, we found a holy shrine with a dome and minarets. It was gorgeous and had vibrant blue, aqua, and yellow colors. It reminded me of the architecture in Uzbekistan.
Inside, we visited the mirror room, but we had to be quiet, as prayer was in session. The entire room glittered and shimmered!

President Biden who had all his shots just like we did got covid two times so what's up with all this? Watching David's videos has given me great pleasure and concentrating on all that delicious food and missed your taster with his adorable laugh and you forget about your woes and why me why you were watching it. And then I got bronchitis and working in the morning after that so it's been some whirlwind of utter nonsense. I hope you are fine now and blessings to you. I wish I could travel but it's awfully hard if you have to go by yourself while you're stuck in the wheelchair so I hope you have got rid of everything and oh I'm wondering did you have trouble like smelling anything I did because I kept smelling roses and onions it was very weird once again peace and blessings to you from me and David thanks kid I love you for what you do for us you have no idea ☮️🇺🇸🏝️

Wow!!! David you can make the egg dish with the tomatoes but you have to scramble it in the pan. I make it with ketchup. Do not beat the egg first. It changes the texture of the egg. What a beautiful place. I was almost blinded by the inside of the shrine. So BEAUTIFUL. There is so much history in the region. Can't wait for Iraq. Is halim similar to porridge? The lavash is so thin that it looks like a napkin. And Mr.Taster: what a gem!!! He is so cute. Love him. This is really going to be a very exciting series. Did you go to see how they made the sugar sticks? I hope you did because I have never seen that before. I love seeing things like that. Sorry that the comment is so long but there is so much to say. The 'white berry' you had were White Mulberrys. The green sour fruit you had was 'sour plums' (my personal favor😉).

I wonder why one of the frame of Mr Hamid Sepidnam (the right hand side) is square shape and the another eye has a circle frame? Is it special modern fashion in Iran? or simply his optician could not find the right frame for him. I appreciate your answer. By the way I asked him few times, but he ignored to answer me.Thanks

White Mulberries= Toot-Sefid grow on trees about 16feet tall, best toot grows in Mashhad where the dirt is miracle-grow. Kids spread a large chador underneath and shake the tree to collect the toot.

That white berry was not a berry like a blackberry, but a white mulberry. Mulberries come in several kinds of colours
