As I continued traveling south through Iran, my road trip took me to the incredible city of Isfahan. Join me as I explore Isfahan and have Iranian street food in an amazing local bazaar!
Isfahan is considered by many to be the most beautiful city in Iran. It was also the capital of the Persian Empire! The city really flourished between the 9th and 18th centuries!

My friend Mr. Taster and I would be heading to Azadegan Teahouse in Haj Mirza Alley for some food, but we’d be starting our tour of the city at the Grand Mosque, or Friday Mosque, which dates back to the early 17th century.
The mosque is massive and beautiful and has some of the biggest domes in the world! The blues and yellows reminded me a lot of the colors and architecture I saw in Bukhara and Samarkand in Uzbekistan. The mosque has four knaves, or entrances. This type of architecture first came about in the 11th century. Only one of them had minarets-two of them.
The knaves are places for people to congregate. Between the columns, colors, and architecture, they’re absolutely stunning!
Then, we we left and headed to the Grand Bazaar nearby. I could see vendors selling gorgeous and intricate Persian carpets and table runners. The gentleman in the shop gave me a wonderful gift for free!
Further on, we found more table runners and pillow covers. I watched him make a design on one of them. He placed a large stamp in some ink and had to be very precise when stamping the cloth!
The quality of the table runners was so high. I loved them. I decided to take one home with me! I loved the bright colors and bought it for $90 USD, but he gave me a 10% discount!
Next, we found a ship selling shisha bubblers. I also saw copper cups and tools for drinking and making coffee, as well as small, decorative boxes.
Then, I saw some incredible copper plates made by an artisan. It takes him a day to tap out the designs on the plates. I also bought some earrings, two necklaces, and a bracelet. They’re all handmade. The craftsmanship was unbelievable!
Next, we visited a shop where they had an entire vase full of saffron. They gave me some saffron for free as a gift! In another shop, I saw a cute jewelry box. The man who makes them is so talented, his work has been featured in a museum in Los Angeles!
Along the way, I stopped by a vendor selling Iran soccer jerseys. I’d never seen a bazaar with so many craft vendors! There was another doing incredible tile work, paintings, and more. I bought some horoscope tiles for myself and family before visiting a shop called Tooba Gem Gallery selling gemstones.
The man gifted me a turquoise ring. It was so beautiful. Their kindness made me want to cry!
From there, we arrived at Azadegan Teahouse. It’s a narrow teahouse that’s famous because its walls and ceiling are covered in paintings, and and antiques! After I entered, a group of local women invited me over to teach me some Farsi!
We started with a salty and minty yogurt drink called doogh and a crispy, syrupy sweet called gooshfil. The sweetness and sourness worked together well! The gooshfil reminded me of jalebi!
Then, they brought out eggplant, lavash, pickled veg, curd, spinach, lemon, crispy onions, and more. You put the curd on the eggplant and eat it with the eggplant. It was amazing! It was a delicious roasted eggplant sandwich!
Finally, we finished with some amazing saffron tea!
Where have you been?

The Grand Mosque is so beautiful. You can feel the history the moment you approach it. Just imagine all these centuries so many people entered . The beauty of this is just no words really. The door also is amazing craftsmanship. Just wow. That's interesting to know the design was meant for the Lord and Prophet. Very nice to know the meaning. I would really love to see this. So many people worship here. I am glad to be able to see and hear the history. As you start to walk to the dome just so big and what skill to have built this. The echo when singing I can see how it rings and you would be feeling this vibrate through your body when so many people here. Just amazing!! The Grand Bazaar I so would take some carpets would have to ship them back. I love Persian artwork! I so wish people would take the time to see hear know how much people all over the world and Iran are so nice. Not all are like government People are beautiful all over the world .And its been so nice to see so many nice people in Iran. Bless you. Just awesome to watch the way they start to make the carpet!! Wow. I so want so many carpets and table clothes so beautiful!! I could go crazy bringing home so many things lol. I love the hand painted boxes so beautiful. Beautiful copper work!! He's so talented . Wow. I could spend hrs. just looking and getting special items to bring home . Saffron!! is a must to try. I love how its used so much in Iranian food. So nice they give you some for gift ♥ That is some amazing work to put all that strips wood and make a design. So beautiful!! I love crafts so much lovely people making things. I know I have said a lot here, but I'm amazing and blown away. How nice they gave you that ring . Now we see where you got it from that is so kind and special. Bless them. Deeper meaning to know about your ring now. That's the biggest Bazar I have ever seen. Now for some food! Food looks amazing would try all of it. Nice meal after a wonderful Day. Thanks for the Trip!!! Blessings ♥♥♥

Wow David: Another amazing video. Really great artisanal products and to actually see how they are made, awesome. I have to say though that I really look forward to the tour of the city. The food, to me now is secondary. I am more into the history and to hear Ali singing, it sounded like a choir because of the echo. The people are very nice and welcoming and accommodating. Now we finally saw where you got the ring. Made me emotional as well so I can imagine how you felt. The people are so generous. All the things that you either paid for or were given would have cost you thousands of dollars in North America. People don't realize that you get what you give and if you treat others with kindness and respect, you get it back. David, well done. Waiting for the next one. Blessings 🙏🕊️💗🇹🇹🇨🇦

@@alihadi995 thank you very much. I am really more interested in the history of the places that David visited. Like I said, the food is secondary now. I don't think people realize that these ancient buildings were built by hand and not all the modern day machinery they use now. Everything is so intricate and meticulously designed and with meaning. I appreciate very much what David is doing because I am learning a lot, in the meantime, doing my own research. Thank you again.🙏🕊️🇹🇹🇨🇦

Such astounding design, Wow!! When that gentleman stated the prayer out loud, his voice was able to echo throughtout the building WITHOUT a loud speaker and thats exaclty how it was around the 1600s when that place flourished. That "Golden Age of Islam" (8th Century - 14th Century) was something else I tell ya!...It contriubted to so much to our Art, Science, Tech, Philosophy and etc.

It is really amazing the way the ordinary Iranians accept you as a guest and honor you for being there. You have the gift of winning hearts and minds of people, even in Iran. You are pure from within and people sense it and react in a loving way. Keep it up, David.
