TBILISI, GEORGIA - I’ve been wanting to visit the country of Georgia for a very long time - the rich history, the landscapes and nature, and of course the ancient food! So today we’re going on an ultimate Georgian food tour in Tbilisi, the capital and largest city in Georgia. It’s going to be exciting and we’re going to eat a lot of delicious local food. Sit back and get ready for the ultimate Georgian food tour in Tbilisi!

Here’s everything we did in this food tour today:
Retro (goo.gl/maps/6BKFkPvqXDzmpfkj8) - Tbilisi, Georgia - This first place we went is a restaurant called Retro to meet up with Chef Gia who is a legend for his kachapuri. Now there are thousand different types of kachapuri in Georgia, many variety of cheese and bread, but this specific version is the Adjarian version. The dough is made into a boat shape and filled with two types of cheese, baked and topped with eggs. It’s one of the world’s great cheese meal experiences. They have normal size, and we got the super sized Titanic kachapuri - 6 times the size of a normal one!
Dezerter Bazaar (goo.gl/maps/JSaAcfVnEzDPeAku9) - One of the most interesting places to go in any city is the local market of bazaar to see the mix of ingredients and things that go into the cooking. Dezerter Bazaar is a great place to see the spices, herbs, and walnuts that make Georgian food what it is.
Tamtaki (goo.gl/maps/abXjU8g5h68hCWJZ6) - Next we continued on to Tamtaki where Chef Tamta is taking classic Georgian food and making modern sandwiches out of them using top quality ingredients and everything served fresh. Her cooking is fantastic and the sandwiches were absolutely spectacular.
Sofia Melnikova’s Fantastic Douqan (goo.gl/maps/f3DrWs5LfN1FYbXv9) - No doubt this is a restaurant in Tbilisi with a lot of character set within a courtyard. Although they have a lot of dishes on their menu, we came specifically to eat fried chicken in garlic sauce, called shkmeruli.
Vino Underground (goo.gl/maps/PS8uJXg3dj8Fv71J8) - Being the birthplace of wine, we couldn’t do a Tbilisi food tour without stepping into a wine cellar for a few drinks!
Ezo (goo.gl/maps/v5m7wvqny3MuxGPQ6) - Finally to complete this meal, we had a giant supra meal - this is a full Georgian meal spread with appetizer, side dishes, and main courses, at Kristo’s very own restaurant! I fell in love with all the varieties and colors, and vegetables - all the walnuts and herbs used in the cooking. The highlight main dishes was a walnut stew and an herbal stew where the meat melted in your mouth.

Georgian food is simply amazing, the most familiar dish to me is khachapuri ofc, not only because it's the most known, but because we have a similar-looking dish, but with different fillings. Greetings from Greece to all Georgians!
I was born in USSR in the 80s and currently live in Russia. Georgian cuisine is very popular in Russia, I think it's a best cuisine in the world. Of course, for every lovers of Georgian cuisine, I would like to advise to visit Georgia for food travel. I love so much khachapuri and khinkali! Kharcho, chakapuli, lobio, chashushuli are also very good.

@@-jank-willson Crimean wine is pretty good. Besides that, nothing special. Some Ukrainian influences here and there. I will say Slavic cuisine in general is really bland. Pierogi is pretty good.

@@ablorenz croation/yugoslav and romanian food would disagree with that statement. Crimean, especially the muslim tatar food, is heavily influenced by turkish and greek cusine, so i wouldn't say that it is bland either. but standard ukrainian and russian food may be a bit bland, but only because of the vast poverty they experienced during communism, and lack of access to specialty items like spices and foriegn imported herbs

As a person that lives in Caucasia, I would absolutely aprrove that georgia have most delicious food !!
When I was in Tblisi a few years ago I experienced the fantastic hospitality of the Georgian people and I tried also a lot local dishes. I remember that the different dishes were stacking on the Tablet which was already a big one. I will always remember that journey with real pleasure. I definitely will go there again!!!
This is not only a channel for celebrating food around the world. It's a therapy! It brings you such a good energy and make your day much better!

I was born in one of those courtyards you are showing - born and grew up in the ეზო of Dadiani street. I hope if the world doesn't come to a standstill next year to go back for my 60th bday. Georgian food is the best. It's unique and doesn't really resemble any other cuisine. They have their own types of cheeses and they're all so good. However the Georgian cuisine is not for the people allergic to nuts 😅. I absolutely love Georgian cuisine and their sweets too. The climate and the nature of the country is such that everything that grows is great and flavourful. I wish I had access to Georgian spices easily...

@@niko7371 zelenski is hitler because he supports nazis azov. from 2014-2022 ethnic russians in donbass were horrifically treated and bombed, etc., and what was the reason? Because they simply wanted to join their ethnic country. Did they deserve to be attacked because of that? I can not be angry at someone who wants to protect his own people.

Oh Mark, Tbilisi, Georgia! All the food. Your tour guide was very knowledgeable about where to go. The bread boat I would be eating for days!!!!😆. I would have to share with a crowd. Love cheese so... The lunch sandwich looked good also. But I think her resteraunt was awesome. So many different food selections. I think the cucumber/tomato salad was the best looking I've ever seen so I know it was FRESH. The pork dish, eggplant rolls, herb salad had so many textures to it. Cornbread was good I know. Just looking with your eyes at the food on the table was incredible. She has talented chefs that love their work and that's hard to find. LOVE TBLISI. FRIENDLY PEOPLE!!!

Ugh.. Mark knows how to speak to my heart! I wanna try one of those titanic khachapuri so bad! Just put me at a table in a quiet restaurant where no one will interfere, and I will demolish one of those, no problem - runny eggs and all 🥲 This was a very different episode from the last - love the variety, and as always, looking forward to more!

I loved that huge SUPRA dinner at the end, again it seems kinda meditteranean. Eggplant, spinach, veg. THE BEST FOODS imo. Wish I could go someday

Yes Margaret my stomach used to do that too until I reach a certain age it just stays poofed out whether I eat or not🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I used to be able to eat everything but the kitchen sink and I would be fine....... fast forward I've lost 10 lb and I need to lose just about six more. With that little spare tire around the middle was not going anywhere. And I'm tall and slender. I have no regrets that's the good news. And I still enjoy food and I love this man's vlogs. It's like a little va-cay.
Adjarian khachapuri is without doubt my favourite food on the planet. So simple, but delicious and comforting. Another recommendation is the Georgian lemonade
