One can only believe what you cannot quantify, cannot find tangible evidence etc., and then you make a choice among alternatives; hence, belief. Therefore, I do not believe 'something'. All the evidence is quite clear that 'Macedonia' is Greek; thus, I know, rather than believe, that you are unfortunately not the descendants of ancient Alexander. FYROM is irrelevant. Clear? :)

Ancient macedonian NATIVE language had nothing to do with ancient greek. Even Alexander learnt greek from Aristotle and this is a well known acts. there are endless documents that show that Alexander many times used to speak to his soldiers in is native language . these are facts. However the most important thing is that neo greeks are a nation invented in 1831... 90% of the heroes of the orthodox revolution of 1821 were Albanians... and alos now days neo greeks use in ceremonies Albanian fustanella, shorter version. There is a difference between speaking a Slavic language and being of "Slavic" origins. Macedonians are genetically extremely similar to the Greeks, which means we are still the same people who just adopted a different language. Think of it this way... The Egyptians adopted Arabic and dont speak Ancient Egyptian anymore. Does that mean they are now Saudis? Of course not, they still are Egyptians.

Btw... the majority of the people living in the Macedonian region in Greece spoke a Slavic language before Greece annexed it in 1913, after which their language was banned and they were forced to either speak Greek or be exiled from the country. All of those "Greek Macedonians" today have a Slavic speaking ancestor. If we are Slavs, so are the Greek Macedonians. ;)

Ancient Macedonians speaked Greek...like all the greek tribes. Yes there was small team of slavic speaker macedoniansGreeks because their ancestors forced with violence . Many of them stand in balcan wars with greek Macedonians to liberate their land. Good point Ugaas! Is true a part of FYROM (N.Macedonia) is part of main Macedonia. If N.Macedonia wants to reunite with the main Macedonia, is ok with me. Off course should accept and the rest of Greece, and switch to the original Greek language. As you mention, the N.Macedonian language have a Bulgarian origin, and has discover 10nth century AC. So there is no relation with any ancient language, especially that of Alexander the Great. By the way Alexander and his parents, have clearly Greek names: Alexander=Αλέξανδρος 'defender against man' Phillip=Φίλιππος 'friend of horses' Olympias=Ολυμπιάδα I guess no need to explain!

the bulgarians are speaking macedonian. read medievil history. try the entries on Byzantium as ancient greek history ends in 395 AD . 1 year before the greek city-states ceased to exist. Koine was macedonian simplified. St Cyril the macedonian took both the bible and koine(so they could read it.)

The real history of The Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) PART TWO 📒🏫 The beginning... Encyclopedia Britannica: The concept of a United Macedonia was used by the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) in the interbellum. Its leaders - including Todor Alexandrov, Aleksandar Protogerov, and Ivan Mihailov (all Bulgarians by origin) - promoted independence of the Macedonian territory split between Serbia and Greece for the whole population, regardless of religion and ethnicity. The Bulgarian government of Alexander Malinov in 1918 offered to give Pirin Macedonia for that purpose after World War I, but the Great Powers did not adopt this idea because Serbia and Greece opposed it. In 1924, the Communist International suggested that all Balkan communist parties adopt a platform of a "United Macedonia" but the suggestion was rejected by the Bulgarian and Greek communists. IMRO followed by starting an insurgent war in Vardar Banovina, together with Macedonian Youth Secret Revolutionary Organization, which also conducted guerilla attacks against the Serbian administrative and army officials there. In 1923 in Stip, a paramilitary organisation called Association Against Bulgarian Bandits was formed by Serbian chetniks, IMRO renegades and Macedonian Federative Organization (MFO) members to oppose IMRO and MMTRO. According to Encyclopædia Britannica 1911 Edition, at the beginning of the 20th century the Slavs constituted the majority of the population in Macedonia region. Per Britannica itself the bulk of the Slavs there was regarded by almost all independent sources as "Bulgarians". Immediately after annexation of Vardar Macedonia to the Kingdom of Serbia, the Macedonian Slavs were faced with the policy of forced Serbianisation by the Serbian government, which included systematic repression of Bulgarian activists, altering family surnames, internal colonisation, forced labor, and intense propaganda. To aid the implementation of this policy, some 50,000 Serbian army and gendermerie were stationed in Macedonia. By 1940 about 280 Serbian colonies (comprising 4,200 families) were established as part of the government's internal colonisation program (initial plans envisaged 50,000 families settling in Macedonia). In 1929, the Kingdom was officially renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and divided into provinces called banovinas. Southern Serbia, including all of what is now the Republic of Macedonia, became known as the Vardar Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. My language is not a mixture of Bulgarian (spoken in Russia and Mongolia) and Albanian ... Alexander did not spread "Greek culture" but spread Hellenism which was a mixture of Macedonian, Hellenic and Persian culture. Why did the Hellenes rise? uprisings against Philip and Alexander if they were "Hellenes" ...... Thrace and Macedonia is Greek territories,the land is part of Greece,slavs living there was illegal refugees,they decided to leave so we did nothing wrong. This is nationalist rhetoric that is unsympathetic towards pragmatic politics. The Macedonian kingdom geographically was part of what is now called Greece as well as what was called FYROM. No one is stealing the name. Macedonia in Greece doesn't cease to exist. They are simply calling the region that was also geographically theirs as Northern Macedonia. Which is precisely what it is.

Listen to me! Until Alexander the Great, and Goce Delchev stand up from their graves and say they are something other then Macedonian, I will call my self a Macedonian! Say whatever you want!

Macedonia was divided in the Balkan war and Greece took 51% of the land of whole Macedonia. Initially the occupied territories Greece named Northern Greece then in 1998 Northern Greece was renamed to Macedonia for political reasons.

That's not true. Macedonian nationality existed but obviously Macedonia was occupied under the Ottoman Empire. To find herself occupied by Greece, Bulgaria Serbia and Albania. Ancient Macedonia conqured the City States. How funny is the conqueror become the conqeuree. Think about that.

Yeah "Pela"... The roots of Alexander the Great.. Yet Greece are good liars by not telling the world that "Pela",was once Macedonian territory. In the times when "Greeks",did not exist at all..And when Great Macedonia fall apart divide and thorn apart between today's Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia, of course the Root of Alexander city of "Pela",geographicly become part of today's Greece. Which doesn't not give them any right to change the history or even say that hi was Greek by origin. When every book in Vashington DC, Historical Museum says that Greeks are completely different from Macedonians.
