Actually i'm not pontian. My family was from Monastir/Bitola. They found refuge in Mother Greece, in 1913, in the liberated part of Macedonia alongside with another 120.000 real Macedonians(aka Greeks).

We should just reunite with Bulgaria...

FYROM and there so called macedonian language = was made up in 1945 by a 1 serbian- he changed bulgarian leathers but it still sound way too similar so he had a idia to add some serbian words too= today maceodinan language but you can see its still sound to similar even today bulgarians can talk with them and we can understand each other :D. and in bulgaria we like to joke= macedonian language was written by a serb on a serbian broken writing machine :D

This country is such a mess.

The descendants of people from FYROM, are Slavs-Bulgarians-Petsenegs and Kumans (last two were turkic tribes that settled in the area in medieval times), hence their second largest city is called Kumanovo (from their Kuman ancestors). Apparently they were not happy with their roots (not much to brag about) so they decided to make a fake identity stealing in the process chunks of Greek and Bulgarian history and twisting them in order to form their fictional national narrative. If the N.Macedonians want to identify them shelfs as Macedonians that's fine for me, but with one condition. Be real Macedonians. Speak Greek, as Alexander the Great was. The today N.Macedonian language founded 700ac. Alexander the Great born 300bc, 10 centuries earlier. Besides that, ALL evidence show Ancient Macedonians spoke Greek. From their royal names to their coins. Some may want to close their eyes, but the truth will be always there.

@@balkanmadnessmadeinaustria5837 I'm glad we agree to that. Yes is true, Greek language is hard to learn, at least perfectly. Sometimes even for Greeks is hard, especially grammar. However I should say the Albanian immigrants here in Greece, speak fluently greek, and I doubt are more intelligent than you. I should mention here that Bulgarians learn ancient Greek already at school. Common language for the people of both countries is essential to build a strong bond. Correct me if I'm wrong, slav language is difficult too. You have masculine and feminine verbs. Am I right?

Who Slavi and Pondi ? You call them greeks ??? :-) :-)! Except couple of oases in Halkidiki and prefecture of Imatia which is in real part of historical Thessaly, there is no any other autochtoneous Greeks in Macedonia. They are all settlers, especialy in bigest town of Salonica... After the Treaty of Lausanne, 1.5 millions of Greeks as refugees came to Greece from Turkey, from which majority is settled in regions of Macedonia and Thrace, from then that areas are in majority greek. Its not antient history its 20th century, easy to check together with population censuses before 1912 and after 1923 where the population change and also changeing of toponimes are clear proov of hellenization of area and ethnical ingeneering.

Read the agreement. There is no South Macedonia, there is Macedonia. The agreement also says that you have nothing to do with ancient Macedonia which belongs to Greek heritage. Hopefully you will develop from the 3rd world neofascist country that you are, and stop raping history

Serbians wanted albanians to leave Bulgaria, so they taught them that they have greek history, but Greeks were again, so now they have old Japanese flag in yellow.

@@e.v.5456 Historic Macedonia is more accurate. 95% of the lands of the ancient kingdom of Macedonia and the capital Pella is in Greek Macedonia.

Like in some cartoon,like kids fighting over some game,name still contains word Macedonia so what did they get by adding North?

Absolutely no gain, in fact both sides were disantvantaged with the name change: On one hand you have a whole new identity being created, because countries keep breaking the Prespa Agreement, where the nationality remains Macedonia and it's just the name, and the citizens in general are just citizens of N*rth Macedonia, but countries have labeled even the ethnic Macedonians as "Northern Macedonians" like the Bulgarians for example. On the other you have the North in the name leaving Greeks paranoid that their fears of us claiming their territory becoming true, because the "North" indicates that there are more parts of Macedonia than just one. It scares me how Europe isn't taking nationalities and these Balkan dispute seriously enough, and is only looking through surface level info and making compromises that please only the corrupt politicians and no one else. That's why many Macedonians have started to develop a feud against neo-liberals and democracy as a concept as many are in favor of a nationalist one party state that represents the people , after all the same government that changed our name is the same one that refuses to highlight war crimes committed by the NLA, an Albanian guerilla group inspired by the Fascist Balli Kombetar, and refuses to celebrate holidays yet put their foremost dedication to commemorating the queen's death and weakened the military for Ukraine, that sweet money and western popularity really had dug our grave :)

Macedonians were called “barbarians” by the Greeks. This is the real definition of barbarian The word barbarian was used originally by the Greeks to refer to any non-Greek: Egyptians, Persians, Indians, Celts, Germans, Phoenicians, Etruscans, Macedonians, Carthaginians, Vikings, Goths - all of these became known as barbarians. The ancient Greek word βάρβαρος (bárbaros) meant “babbler. not only no Greek, nor related to the Greeks, but not even a barbarian from any place that can be named with honors, but a pestilent knave from Macedonia, whence it was never yet possible to buy a decent slave" - Demosthenes, Third Philippic, 31. The famous words that this Greek orator from Athens used to describe the Macedonian king Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great, prior to Philip’s conquest of Greece. We know for a fact that the ancient Greeks stereotyped and called all non-Greeks barbarians. These included the Persians, the Thracians, Illyrians, Macedonians, Egyptians etc. The modern Greeks however, claim that Philip was Greek, and that Demosthenes called him "not only no Greek, nor related to the Greeks" and "barbarian", only in a "rhetorical context", which was aroused by the political anger that existed between Macedonia and the Greeks states on the south, although it is very clear from Demosthenes’s words that he regards the Macedonians and their king Philip II as non-Greeks. This modern Greek position is easily debunked, however, when we consider the following two points: a. If the Macedonians were Greeks but still called barbarians and nor related to the Greeks, why is then no other Greek tribe called barbarians and nor related to the Greeks in "rhetorical context"? There were many examples when that could have happened, it’s enough to point to the long Peloponesian War, or any of the many constant wars between the Greek states. Yet no Spartan, Athenian, Theban, Epirote, was ever called non-Greek or barbarian during any of these political and war conflicts! Not ONCE! b. We know for a fact that the ancient Greeks also called the Persians barbarians. Are we suppose to say now, based on the modern Greek "logic", that the Persians were also a Greek tribe, but they were called non-Greeks only in "rhetorical context"? The lesson is clear. The ancient Greeks called all non-Greeks barbarians, and the modern Greek argument can simply not be true, and is quite frankly ridiculous. It does however, prove to what extend the modern Greek writers would go to make the Macedonians forcefully Greek, steel the Macedonian history, and even rewrite the feelings of the ancient Greeks during that process.

We are from 1992, 😂 tito invented us 😂 😂 we’re a new country from Yugoslavia 😂 Our Macedonian parents and grandparents were born before Tito, some were born befriend Yugoslavia was created. Our grandparents were Macedonian because their parents, grandparents and great grandparents were Macedonians and so on..... all the way through the Ottoman Empire, Eastern Roman empire, when tsar Samuel ruled from Skopje Ohrid then Prespa (come and see his fortress in Ohrid) all the way back through the centuries when Macedonians and Greeks were mentioned as separate people and nations in the bible and in the Roman Empire when the Greeks joined the Romans to fight against the Macedonians. We’ve always been Macedonians, living in the same territory with the same name for 3000 years.

Both of them have been deprived and tormented - Roger David Casement 1864-1916, was an Irish revolutionary, humanitarian, campaigner and poet. William Gladstone 1897 “Macedonia! Land of legends, land of glory but never Greek.” “Why not Serbia for the Serbians, Bulgaria for the Bulgarians and Macedonia for the Macedonians”

John Chrysostom 380AD was the archbishop of Constantinople and when analysing verses 7-10 in chapter 1 in the book of first Thessalonians which refers to Macedonia makes the following comment; For this nation of the Macedonians, before the coming of Christ, was renowned, and celebrated everywhere more than the Romans. And the Romans were admired on this account, that they took them captive. For the actions of the Macedonian king exceeded all report, who, setting out from a little city indeed, yet subdued the world. Wherefore also the Prophet saw him, a winged leopard, showing his swiftness, his vehemence, his fiery nature, his suddenly in a manner flying over the whole world with the trophies of his victory. And they say, that hearing from a certain philosopher, that there were infinite worlds, he groaned bitterly, that when they were numberless, he had not conquered even one. So high-minded was he, and high-souled, and celebrated everywhere. And with the fame of the king the glory of the nation also kept pace. For he was called “Alexander, the Macedonian.” So that what took place there was also naturally much talked of. For nothing can be concealed that relates to the illustrious. The Macedonians then were not inferior to the Romans.
