Illinois Archery Season 2022 - Tex Grebner Outdoors
Спорт
Welcome to the high stakes game of whack a mole, the visceral mystery that is the sacred hunt. This video was a long time in the making, so I am grateful for your patience. Wiley Coyotee after all is my spirit animal. Traditional Bowhunting is a persistent commitment to the acceptance of failure. And I have a real hard time talking about my real life after all the I have had to deal with from the internet.
Of course my dreams are always bigger than my wallet. Enjoy this all-new primal episode of Tex Grebner Outdoors!

The man, the myth, the legend. Welcome back Tex
Good to see you Tex - Thanks for sharing your season with us again Cheers
It's great you're back Tex! I'm sorry to hear your Dad has cancer. Thank you for your honesty and candor.
Never quit dude. The world needs you more than you understand brother
I'm glad to see you making videos again. I know how things can be tough but you're a good dude & make good content
Tex is the main character of youtube
Good to see you back! Sorry for all you go through and the struggles with life and family.
I love the fact this man has no shame and wears his bizarreness on his sleeve like a badge of honor. He looks the part to, great stuff, pure gold as they say. The spear throwing at a clay pigeon had me rofl...in the most respectful way of course because y'all know you wanted to try it too lol. I just don't have the balls to let my neighbors see me larping like it's the bronze age in my back yard 😂. So please, don't give in to other's malice Tex! We need you to lead by example. F what other ppl think or say online about you. I still remember one of the early vids where you shot yourself. I'm sure you got a ton of backlash from that and other things you do but I promise there are ppl who admire you sharing that stuff and your sense of humor and intellect on that and other topics. Oh and lastly you perfectly articulated the sad lonely feeling I often have reflecting back on the days of the pre-sanitized internet. I'm almost 50 and I can never let these yungins know how it used to be, how much better and freer the Internet was. It used to be a web search would result in a cornucopia of undiscovered treasure put forth by ordinary talented or bizarre folk to stumble upon but now an internet search yields 10 corporate results and nobody has hit the next page button on a Google search in 20 years. It's sad. You get literally 10-20 websites repeated on a modern Google search, you can't find ppl's personal webpages thru a Google search anymore even if you skipped to page 1,389,746 of the results. Back then almost all the results were ppl's personal webpages and internet forums on any topic or hobby you could imagine. What's worse is chatgpt takes this even to a further extreme because in essence chatgpt is a Google search with 1 result we call the answer
We need more TGO videos.
Hey man , keep up the great work. Worked a lot of livestock throughout the decades . Thanks for the memories. Getting yelled at, and not getting anyone hurt is what I always considered a successful day 💯🤠🐎👍
Everything worth doing isn't always easy, and often the easy ways isn't the right way. That being said the right thing is always the right thing to do. The end result is often seen as the prize but most of the time actually fails in comparison to the hard work, planning, and efforts of the journey itself. What you do isn't easy or everyone would be doing it but your doing it right and honestly. Hold your head up. Not many can say the same these days. Keep up the great work.
Great episode Tex! The introspective nature of hunting was very well stated throughout the video. Lots of time to think in the deer stand. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks Tex, I was looking forward to this one and super pumped to see it today! Please keep it up my friend you still have loyal fans!!

I’m really glad you did get yourself some RAZOR brand broadheads they are the best 🏹👊🏼🤙🏼
Keep up with the trad videos. Will always follow Bro.
:awesome
I have heard that some hunters (after a days hunt) will leave behind a sweaty t-shirt and their lightly used underwear in the stand so that passing deer are familiar with the scent and not alarmed by the scent of the hunter when the hunter returns for another hunt. I've never tried it but it seems to be a reasonable thing to try since deer react to any sound or smell that is different than what they are used to sensing. Good luck Tex!
huntin ain't like the pornos, hell yeah Tex. welcome back.
💪
Work in Circus 😂
This was a good video, I think the last few years have been hard on all of us. Has your gear changed much since the last one you did a few years ago? Where you are I am guessing only archery, shotgun and muzzleloader is all there is, guessing no rifle?
A few thoughts Tex. First of all, not seeing deer to shoot at is not failure. It's just called hunting. If we had opportunities every time we went, we would call it "shooting" or some such thing. Growing up, I hunted an area with very few deer. Just to see one was a thrill and getting any hard horned buck, which was the only thing legal, was considered a real accomplishment. You are blessed to have land to hunt on. I don't and haven't for many years. Here in Texas, deer hunting is a pay to play proposition only. And even if you have the money (and it's not cheap) that doesn't mean you can find a place. Deer leases tend to stay full and have waiting lists. My county has mostly only below average deer because of the range conditions, and it still costs probably $3000 to $5000 to lease a smaller acreage - per season. Again, that's if you can even find one for lease. Start going to the hill country or deep South Texas and the prices climb astronomically from there. So count your blessings if you have a place to hunt, double blessing if it's free. As for frequency, when you get older and work for a living, you hunt when you can. Ideal conditions, the right moon phase, weather and all that are just bonuses if they happen to fall in your favor. You just hunt when you can, not when the season or weather is good. Getting out in the woods is what it is all about and the more you can, the better your odds go up. But your time will always be limited by living life. I have hunted some really good places for many years and killed some deer many would envy. But I envy your situation right now. Enjoy what you have, count it all good and keep plugging brother. There are those of us who wish we could be where you are again.
Spoiler Alert: . . . . . . . So if I understand this correctly, the arrow hit in all likelyhood one of the hardest parts of the shoulder, the ball joint and the tip got destroyed in the process. Wow, what are the odds of that happening. I can only imagine the frustration, when you had a few more opportunities afterwards and also your self-control for not taking another shot. You must have the patience and attitude of a monk. :)
I have a question for you. If there is no such thing as sasquach, how do we know what they look like? So you see, they must exist.
Weapon envy has no place in the hunting world. We need to hang to together, or hang separately? Some folks make fun of people shooting at concrete blocks, etc., but that will show you where the weak points are in your arrow system. I shot a broadhead I was testing at a 2x4, then thru one side of a steel barrel, and finally, at a concrete block. The arrow system survived the first two impacts. The broadhead survived the concrete block, but I was using a thin walled arrow shaft, and the broadhead went backwards into the shaft splitting the front of the arrow like splitting a log. I was using a thin walled (lighter) shaft to achieve higher FOC for improved arrow flight, but if I want to up the intregity of the arrow system, I will need to go with a thicker walled arrow shaft, and a much heavier arrow point to maintain higher FOC. The trade off will be drastically reducing my arrow speed.
ya must have been doing alright for yourself , with that new hat and all
TEX!
May I suggest a 32 caliber muzzleloader for squirrel hunting. A blast even when you miss, a sporting challenge, and you can scout for deer while doing it.
You gotta stop overthinking and get a setup over some community scrapes or a big intersection with feed trees close to the beds or get right in the beds with them you are in a good situation with rut being so early in the season use that wind and go with ur first instinct if it be a tree selection or what spot you are gunna hunt that morning or evening i dont know much about you and your situation other than what ive seen in this vid so don't take this wrong or get offended.. I truly believe JESUS sends me my success yeah i grew up around the deer woods with men that was str8 killers and i know what they know but still i will run myself to death sometimes and then realize all you gotta do is ask the Lord to send you one and man i kid you not ill start hearing tromp tromp tromp in them leaves ima pray for you to get time and to make the right decisions and to be successful
john browning would tell you get a rifle....great video tex

You answered my question in the video. Didn’t watch long enough before I commented.
Tonight I’m at work. Randomly, Tex Grebner, of Tex Grebner Outdoors popped into my mind. I haven’t had one of your videos show up in years. KZread can be so disgusting, I’ll be catching up now.
