Illinois Archery Season 2023 - Tex Grebner Outdoors

Спорт

Welcome to the high stakes game of whack a mole, the visceral mystery that is the sacred hunt. This video was a long time in the making, so I am grateful for your patience. Wiley Coyotee after all is my spirit animal. Traditional Bowhunting is a persistent commitment to the acceptance of failure. And I have a real hard time talking about my real life after all the I have had to deal with from the internet.
Of course my dreams are always bigger than my wallet. Enjoy this all-new primal episode of Tex Grebner Outdoors!

Thank You for taking us hunting with you. You tell it like it is and you're on point! You bust your azz to film these hunts and you don't get enough thanks for it. Most complain about carrying a backpack to a stand let alone film equipment and setting it all up and down every hunt. I applaud you Tex.

Tex, long time subscriber here, great to see you again. I've said this before and I'll say it again, you are a very interesting person and a great story teller. I watched and enjoyed the whole video. You put it together very well and I enjoyed seeing where you work. I wish you well my friend and I will be watching when you break that curse.

You may not appreciate it so much, but your hunting videos are truly inspiring to me and many others. About 10 years ago a friend introduced me to guns and hunting, and you added to my interests. Your comment in a video about large bore rifles really hit me: "If you are using a scope, you are NOT hunting dangerous game." I'm 80 years old now. I've hunted elephant in Zimbabwe (unsuccessful), harvested a 7-foot black bear on Vancouver Island, hunted polar bear in Nunavut (also unsuccessful). This year I go back again to Nunavut in March and Zimbabwe in June to try again. Thanks for your inspiration, and wish me luck!

Every year, Tex puts out another Illinois Archery Season Video, and every year I comment that he needs to wear a face covering in the tree stands. I'm guessing the 2024 season will be a repeat. It's a bit of a tradition now.

Between the exposed face, the long hair, and the endless dip spitting, it's no surprise the deer can sense and avoid him.

Tex, great season! Your spot looks like it would work well with maybe a decoy, some scent, and a little calling! Where I hunt in MI, there are hardly ever spots with low, to no ground brush, to facilitate a visible decoy set up. We do a lot of rattling and grunting and scent.

Hey Tex, I have been watching your hunting seasons for the last few years. I would highly encourage you to practice, calling, rattling, making mock scrapes. I feel as though you are handicapping yourself by not utilizing these resources. I live in a state that does not permit feeding. So to see deer, especially during rut, it is crucial to be able to mimic an event that will bring a buck in for his potential breeding.

Aim low when the chance arrives. They can duck insanely fast even shooting that much poundage. Deer season ended here the middle of January in Kentucky. Huge acorn crop this year and harvest was down because deer bedded and fed in the same spot and did not have to travel to agricultural fields or corn piles. Thanks for sharing the journey.

get a hog cage trap and you can catch 50 per night. It has a internet camera and you get to push a button from laying in your bed and go back to sleep. Thats what I would do. And if you want to go fishing you can use the electric shock wires under the boat and they float to the surface by the hundreds. You're doing this all the hard way man.

Hey Tex, I have been with you for years. I have seen the best of you and the worst. When people mention your weight I don't believe it comes from a blatant need to hurt but from genuine concern. There is no doubt that you will attain the body you desire...... for we all have all watched you persevere in your hunting endeavors. We all know that nothing in life is free - nothing! Everything we desire has a price tag. Every one of us has had a life slip such as drugs, alcohol, food, bad spending habits or just plain old shit behavior towards others. Stay the course and focus on your desired outcome. As a suggestion, look into the carnivore diet. I have to say your shooting has improved tremendously. I wish you all the best in the future and look forward to your next video.

Hey Derek. I experienced a negligent discharge January 5th. It was with my old Ruger Blackhawk given to me by my grandfather. I wanted to ask you how you’re doing today? Mine happened to go through the back of my calf and out my shin. I’m having constant pain and am on gabapentin.

You need to change your outlook. You talk constantly about the art of traditional archery being "a persistent commitment to the acceptance of failure" and about how because of the choices you've made the hunt is harder and you've accepted how easy it is to fail and that's what makes it acceptable that you haven't had success. I call bullshit! Don't accept failure! Don't accept excuses and change your mindset. You are obviously dedicated to your pursuits and very well practiced with your equipment of choice so stop looking at it from the bottom of the hill and MANIFEST Destiny.
