The He 219 Uhu was considered the best German night fighter in World War II, but only a few were built. There was a reason for this in politics: Heinkel had further developed and built the type at his own risk, although he had instructions not to do so. Well, 7 years. That game is Il-2 1946 from 2006 and the Great Battles series started with Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad in 2013. If you mean graphics in general, then it would be 14 years from the time of your comment

Nice to see this thing fully modelled. Last time I played it in Il-2, it was a frankenplane. I'll have to catch back up with mods I think!

The aircraft is a “night fighter.” Shouldn’t it be hunting and attacking aircraft, in the night?

I love this plane but really, a night fighter with radar in daytime combat with a twin engined allied fighter? The Owl was one of the best night fighters and quite successful in shooting down allied bombers.

Near the end of the war nightfighters where used against usaaf bombers formations , because of a shortage of day fighters.

Hello Steven; It's me again, just to thank you for the help you have provided for me in trying to make my 1946 to look and work better...!! In fact, I installed the 4.12.4 version and was immediately blown away by the amount of effects contained in that version, and not counting the all the additional planes and maps, and....Wao..!! I really appreciate your support. I'm also reviewing the link you provided here: ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKl-wa-SktXLgKQ.html ) I'm still enjoying my new update as it is, until I understand a little more facts about 'mods', then I would try to jump to the next step...so far I'm having a blast with my new 1946, I actually replicated your M-163 Komet mission and I was amazed..it looks the same..! (with exception of some hard hitting sounds, that are included in your video, but are not shown in mine..) You are a great guy....!! Thanks again...!!

Well, in this case it´s a game where you can choose, but in ww II, there were many occasions when the luftwaffe attacked allied bombers with night fighters, so what´s so strange?.

This plane actually more suited for the night Bomber hunter, not dog fighting specially mighty Lightning P-38 tear this plane so easly

Yeah, a 38 pilot could drop combat flaps and whip around on the Uhu's tail in no time. But it's still cool to see what it looks like in game and I love the night fighters and really appreciate this video for that reason.

The P-38 would easily eat this thing fir lunch. Many of these sim's AI are lacking in realism, and this is one reason I quit playing them.

Dictor Clef I agree, and that's evident when you're flying against people online. I was referring to the AI only, and the earlier versions at that. I haven't been involved in flight sims in years- no time these days😕

German night fighters flew at the end of the war on day missions when there was a shortage of day fighters, as well a ferry flights from the factory.and for picking up mail and some parts, you more likely to get back to base in a 219 or a 110 than a ju-52,RAF tempest have record kills of the 110 and 219 on day missions, not many.

The He219 shot down a total of 10 Mosquitoes. All in 1944. In return, the Mosquito shot down 18 He219s. from late 1943 to early 1945.
