My uncle was fleet air arm and he said he was much more worried about deck landings than enemy action . I see Eric 'Winkle' Brown was right about Spitfires being very tricky due to the long nose . Well flown sir !

Carrier landings tough enough then you got to deal with damage. Takes skill!

Great video. That Corsair that catches the cable and stops cold, then crashes to the deck breaking the gear! Hilarious! But at least the pilot survives!

Thank you. I did not really need to practice, it was more like a trial and error process. I made this by simply setting up some AAA and letting myself getting shot up. If I got shot down or failed the landing, I retried.

Do you have a mod correcting the flight model of the TBF? I've tried to fly the Avenger included in SAS Ultrapack but it's enormously difficult to control on account of the seemingly excessive engine torque which I'm constantly having to correct for with trim. Landing on the boat is nigh impossible with 100% prop pitch, as I'm changing throttle constantly when lining up on final. Am I flying the airplane incorrectly? What has your experience been with the Avenger?

Our experience with it is the same as yours. Seems to be a badly modded wonky flight model.

We are talking about a game enigne that originally came out in 2001 and its latest expansion "1946" in 2006. Fixing this issue would require to include multiple damaged propeller models for every aircraft. You would have to include a model for every option that can happen: One, two, three, four or even five blades bent. We can be glad that this kind of damage model is in the game at all! Remember, they had big performance and disk space limitations to consider back in '06. That stuff originally had to fit on a few CDs or at least one DVD. There was just no way to do something like that. Also, btw, that's like point 5738 on the list of things to fix in '46.

Question: What was damaged on the corsair for you to commit in almost completely normal landing?

Applied some effects in Sony Vegas. Increased contrast and saturation.

Well I've never used instruments besides night flight normally Only to check altitude for waypoints, fuel and engine temp

Losing certain instruments make life harder than others. If your airspeed indicator breaks, it's annoying, but even in IFR conditions it's only minor. Cross-referencing engine RPM, trim and artificial horizon should give a decent idea. If your compass breaks... well, you're kinda fucked if you don't have clear vision on landmarks to get home with. Generally instruments will break in the order of "dumbest first"; pitot tubes break regularly, AoA fins are more resilient.

Man this game is the best fighting ww2 sim made back then in 2006 But the best part for myself is whenever u choose a plane u can change its faction to The United States,Soviet Union,United Kingdom,Japanese Empire,Italy and many more other countries I think? And u can change the course of the war making Uk vs Japan or USA vs Germany and Italy It’s all up to u where ever it goes will stay

There is no such thing as a better modpack. One always does better then the other in some aspect. You'll have to figure that out on your own.

Crabby actually got VR to run with this game. He used it in our recent Blenheim and SM.79 videos.

Is it just me, or do the British have some of the worst flight deck designs I've ever seen ? That semi double-decker with a bump between the two looks like a death trap...

Meant for the age of biplanes... Courageous & Glorious never quite made it into the monoplane FAA age...

Carrier landings in the real world make no sense at all to me. How does the landing gear not get entangled in the cables that catch the plane?! Don't tell me some deck crew guy is just like "Aw don't worry about dat Mack, we set collision between those to 'False'!"

you lift up the front of the aircraft so the gear does not touch the deck, your wire catcher hits a wire, when your speed finally lowers your gear touch the deck
