Good friend of mine loved listening to A-ha. Manhattan Skyline was his favorite song out of their playlist; unfortunately he left us a few years ago. Listening to this brings a tear to my eye - he would've loved this. I feel like he's right here with me right now... I can feel his warmth next to me. I miss you, my friend. Hope you're soaring, Benny.

this is a prime example how cringy it must be to record music videos in general. just imagine hiking on a mountain in suits then fooling around with a guitar connected to nothing trying to look badass while risking that other people might see you

@@demorez5 search for the video for Emperor - The Loss and Curse of Reverence and you will see Ihsahn being even more cringy in a forest, with plate armor, candles and other shit.
For 20yrs plus I kept saying „I listen to virtually everything between A-ha and Emperor“ [depending on mood]...now it all of a sudden seems pretty narrow-minded indeed... 😂😂😂

@@MrChefroadie first time I saw this, I sent it to a friend saying "hey, I didn't know you did an Aha cover with Gary Barlow" - he looks a bit like Ihsahn. I take it all back. Still a great song. Hope they do more crossovers

@@azrael666ethereal Steven is really good with some of his compositions, but can be a bit boring with others. It's hit or miss with him, at least to my taste. Maybe I am not very objective as I am still mad at Wilson for ignoring ABBA albums in his podcast about best albums of 1979.

Ihsahn is easily the most interesting musician to come out of Norway. I love that you never know what to expect anymore from his output, yet it's always high quality stuff.

I grew up an 80s kid and got into Black Metal in the 90s, this is awesome to me!! I've seen Emperor twice and like Ihsahns musical versatility with his solo works and Peccatum .

I am a metalhead BUT I love a-ha since the 80ies, cause I think they have together with abba the best melodies ever. This cover is absolut brilliant and together with "stay on these roads one of my favorite a-ha-songs ever!!! Horns up

Let's be honest - ABBA is waaaaay better, but A-ha is an excellent band. But the best Norwegian band of all time and in general one of the best in the world of all time is Leprous!

Same with me, I'm metalhead since 1986 but loves these band also: The Cure, Queen and A-ha, all are brilliant in my opinion!

Ihsahn and Einar, a masterpiece comes when family gather together
I've thought so many times Einar sounds like Morten Harket, so this A-Ha cover is so spot on!

Einar is such an exceptional singer. That guy can virtually sing anything and make it sound amazing!

Slept on A-Ha for years. Wrote them off as just another floppy-haired synth-pop boy band for girls with no musical acumen. Very, very glad to have been proven wrong about 5 years ago, working through their material slowly but surely.
I just love Morton Harket, this is a really difficult song. Beautiful.
Einar's voice was perfect for the cover, especially with the use of high notes that he has easily. I am impressed. Congratulations!🙌🇬🇧🇧🇷🎼🎙🙃

I don't remember if it was the KZread algorithm, but blessed was the moment when I heard this song for the first time, thanks to this I met Ihsahn and Leprous.
I am glad how carefully they treated the original. Thank you for having no excessive ad-libbing! Although it would be interesting to hear a little more vocal power of some parts, and maybe a little complication of the guitar solo.
What you guys did with this song shook me hard. This is marvelous. I was a fan of a-ha since the 80’s and I’m just astonished. Thank you for this.

I had this guy in Highschool that i had always hated… he was a real jerk. Or so i thought… i myself had a lot of growing up to do… i was just jealous of how he had such a natural energy about him and such a great taste in music. I looked him up the other day. Found out he had passed away a while back…. Benny, we may never had been friends but you were friendly enough that it was an influence on making me the better man i am today. BENNY HARVEY, R.I.P.
