Yeah, backstage passes, too! He's actually pretty cool. I met him at BB King's during an Emperor reunion tour. A dude had a frickin seizure in the pit there next to me when I saw them! He's great live, BTW if anyone's considering seeing him perform. Just think he's doing vox while hammering out the guitar stuff!💯

Ihsahn has always been so effective in creating tension with his mix of metal & orchestral arrangements. That opening is palpable dread.

I see you, Ihsahn. I know intoxication forest, i know mundane city-life reality. I see the struggle, the shift between the two. Newborn alcoholic here, i see the symbolism in my birth, but i know my admittance to my birth has to mean something. The witch is so tempting, and always there regardless of the forest or city. Always beckoning. I want her. She wants me. It would appear a perfect match on paper. Of the three videos, one being sober falling into the forest, this one being actual intoxication, the third leaving a question mark at the end. I also grasp "out of place," quite relatable. Thank you my friend. And while i know youre under contract to write exclusively about my life and its turmoils and obligations, youve more than upheld your end of the contract we swore. Happy birthday to me, this monday. Ill try and stay sober. Its been hard.

Said it well over a decade ago before, but imo Ishan is one of the greatest musical composers of the last 30 some years, regardless of any musical genre. ...Well, the genre if there was one to be attached it is Avant Garde. And that "genre" has elements from all corners of the earth or moment in time, and in any style, top tier sht.

I haven't heard his solo stuff in years and this is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good. I like the pitch variation in the brutal vocals a lot. Hope he still sings though. His clean voice rocks pretty hard.

Amazing! Feels like Ihsahn is taking the listener on a mysterious musical journey, it already feels very conceptual and I'm sure there will be a lot of stuff to dig deep into and this is just awesome!!!

This is insanely good!! Really great use of the orchestral parts to make it sound even more evil and heavy. Most symphonic black metal sounds too nice and happy but this is genuinely icy and twisted sounding.

I'm sure there's something profound one could say about how one of my first experiences with Ihsahn was watching the music video for The Loss and Curse of Reverence where he was doing stuff in a forest and, here I am, like, a quarter-century later, watching an Ihsahn video with yet another guy doing stuff in a forest. It may be the same forest, even. But I am no poet nor tree... science... guy...? I'm not smart or creative enough to figure out what that is. That's my point. I think.

i have an unusual request: having Closed Captions, AKA subtitles for the lyrics of the songs to be put in the videos, be it Celine Dion or Cannibal Corps i never hear the lyrics. (spoken dyslexia?) since this is story driven, it would be a perfect addition. also i still wonder what you are saying in the background from 4:54 to 5:14 of the song "The Loss and Curse of Reverence"... i can only make out "From an Other World" at 5:11... i guess the only one who knows is you but anyhow... that new stuff is scratching an itch that was nearing decades!

I feel like it fits the vibe of the song, and gives it almost like a march feeling, which grounds the dissonance of the other instruments. since these videos are connected, I'll wait for the full album to pass final judgment on how well it fits into the album/story and if it plays its role well edit: this might be one of the tracks with his son on drums, in which case, it's impressive to be ripping this one out at his age
