Much to my disgrace I married a bottom feeder who forbade me to go to any concert because according to him "I was a whor3 who would f*ck anyone with metal gear". He would s*xually and mentally abuse me almost every day. When Emperor came to Brazil I wasn't allowed to go and missed the chance to see my hero. I cried for days. I was r@ped repeatedly, threatened with a knife ( yeah, I almost had an Euronymous ending) I was humiliated and he broke me, but he never broke my spirit, Because this gentleman over there created a masterpiece called Arktis: Whenever I listened to Ihsahn one little voice would tell me: "stay strong, you'll be free again" Long story short, that man offed himself by hanging. I lost many things but I didn't lose myself and I'm alive and getting stronger. When I listened to this cover from my favorite A-ha song I understood Ihsahn is not in my life in vain. YOU SIR, SAVED MY LIFE and made me want to live again. I love you I thank you, if by any chance you come to Brazil again I WILL be there. Don't need to meet you and greet you. I see you, Ihsahn. I know intoxication forest, i know mundane city-life reality. I see the struggle, the shift between the two. Newborn alcoholic here, i see the symbolism in my birth, but i know my admittance to my birth has to mean something. The witch is so tempting, and always there regardless of the forest or city. Always beckoning. I want her. She wants me. It would appear a perfect match on paper. Of the three videos, one being sober falling into the forest, this one being actual intoxication, the third leaving a question mark at the end. I also grasp "out of place," quite relatable. Thank you my friend. And while i know youre under contract to write exclusively about my life and its turmoils and obligations, youve more than upheld your end of the contract we swore. In a world of indifference and neglect, I will give time to anyone with a serious, thought out point of view, especially married to such brilliant and deep music. I compare Ihsahn to Gary Numan, or Matt Johnson, in thier respective genres, as originators, innovators, and enduring refiners.

I was wondering if he becomes a Deer or the Wendigo. If the witch enchants this man with her magik and make him one with the forest and the wild animal. I can´t stop thinking about the Danza del Venado or the STAGMAN OF Hannibal series. The photographs and videos of deers make this album so GREAT, and once again we find out those norwegian forests "surrounded by majestic mountains" in the musical background of IHSAHN ("Beyond the great vast forest" Into the nightside eclipse album) Only this time is not about wolves but deers, witches and modern man. I love this track its one of my favorite. Deers and forests so powerful!

It's more of a metaphor, symbolism. Watch Pilgrimage to Oblivion and this one back to back. It's a journey, a concept. The main character IS the deer - always "out of place." Alcoholism is the escape. The forest is the high, the buzz, freedom, the city is forced real life. The witch, or wendigo as you mentioned is the alcohol, the magic. This video actually has cutscenes back and forth of his hand grasping a branch, fading to cityscape barred fence. The symbolism is pristine and flawless As so.eone struggling with alcohol, this series resonates with me. The true question in this mystery, is who is actual Ihsahn to this man, just a normal neighbor? Is Ihsahn the sober version of the mans wendigo? Just thoughts, that's how I perceived it anyway. But seriously Pilgrimage to Oblivion is literally part 1, this is part 2, I just crave a part 3 to finalize. Unless of course, the dying deer on a man made street, out of place, away from it's home, or never feeling at home IS the ending. If that's the conclusion to these conceptual videos I can accept that, bc that's basically what it is. What life is.

I had this guy in Highschool that i had always hated… he was a real jerk. Or so i thought… i myself had a lot of growing up to do… i was just jealous of how he had such a natural energy about him and such a great taste in music. I looked him up the other day.
