Iggy and the Stooges | Open Up And Bleed | Live in Sydney

Музыка

Iggy And The Stooges performing Open Up And Bleed, live at The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on 2 April 2013, filmed exclusively by Moshcam.
"Why don't you come up here on stage and dance with the fucking Stooges!" Iggy Pop declared early on tonight. At his request, fans vaulted over barricades to join the Godfather and his merry men, The Stooges, on stage for the rowdy classic 'Fun House'. This old-school punk party has truly begun.
Engulfed by the crowd and chaos, the band brought the fun and the fury, setting the tone for an electrifying night out at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion. Along with cuts from latest album 'Ready To Die', the punk powerhouse tore through their coveted back catalogue including defining moments like 'No Fun', 'I Want To Be Your Dog' and 'Search and Destroy'.

    I live in Detroit. Iggy is Legend here. The MC5 too. There's some great MC5 stuff on here. They destroy Let it Rock and some others. The best concert is from 68 at a College Football Stadium downtown. The Stooges and the were massive energy bands. I recorded with Scott Asheton in 2001 with The Farleys. He wasn't doing anything,so they paid him $1000 to come up from Florida. They cut 10 originals and 10 Stooges songs. I went in and did I overdubs on guitar. That was 2 years before the Stooges reunited. It's not on here because of copyrights.

    **About 66 y.o here - but yes, still amazingly lively & more in shape than most other blokes his age… yoga & whatever else [managing to get off all the gear he was using, whilst still young enough for his body to bounce back fully & adopt healthy sober lifestyle].. saw him about 5 years later, gonna guess 2018(?), at Sydney Opera House, and still hadn’t slowed down! ..May have needed an extra couple of arms to help drag him back onto stage and had enough elasticity in his skin you could probably bend, stretch, fold up ‘n tie up to make a bunch of animal balloon-like shapes like a clown at a kid’s party, hah, BUT still crazy-good energy for a then-man in his early 70s!! 😮 If you get a chance to see Iggy and the Stooges (or Iggy Pop, Stooge-less) be sure you get tix.. as ya more than likely won’t get another chance to! Not they he needs the promo haha & always puts 💯 into his shows, unlike other older musos around his age who are just collecting the $$ ‘n put in no effort at all/look like they’d wanna be anywhere else but on stage/or even aware of there surroundings 😂 [eg. Bob dylan]

    One of the best rock songs of all time. We'll, the artists have of course something to do with it, it is not just the song itself. Have to say that a lot of songs by Iggy, or Iggy & the Stooges, the Stooges, or Iggy Pop & James Williamson ranks among the best I have ever heard: "Open up and Bleed", "Search & Destroy", Gimme danger", "Penetration", "TV-eye", "The Passenger", "I wanna be yer dog" - raw emotional rock'n roll.

    He's after financial security and so he should. He has (always) had broad cultural interests like David Bowie (I think that's why they bonded) and wants to explore new musical territories. He moved away from hard/ "noise" / metal rock very soon, because he felt that that period was closed. That's what he said in one video interview.

    @@honkinonbobo8773 You have a very idealistic outlook on life. When I think that Van Gogh most certainly killed himself because he did not want to bear financially on his brother Theo who gave him the money to buy his paint, but was going through a difficult period and was expecting a child from his wife...When I think of the life of hardship that Modigliani and his wife Jeanne went through, and that after his death of consumption she killed herself because she could not feed their child...I am all too happy that Iggy is well off financially in his old age. Whatever it takes. Still the best performer, anyway! As for Rimbaud, didn't he end up as an arm dealer? 🙄 He didn't lead a very "poetic" life, did he?

  • @honkinonbobo8773

    @honkinonbobo8773

    @@lilise3965 Rimbaud n'a jamais eu l'envie de mener une vie "poétique"; il a essayé de "changer la vie" avec sa poésie en essayant d'arriver à l'inconnu en goûtant à tous les poisons, mais il avoua à la fin avoir échoué et changea radicalement de vie. Rimbaud était un adolescent surdoué, et il alla beaucoup plus loin que ces mecs de la pop comme Bowie ou Iggy. Bob Dylan est un excellent lyricist mais il reste à des millions d'années lumière de Rimbaud. Ses paroles sont excellentes pour une chanson rock mais Rimbaud doit rigoler dans sa tombe car il ferait beaucoup mieux et facilement. Rimbaud était génial mais il travailla dur alors que les mecs du rock torchent rapidement leurs textes sans beaucoup de connaissances de la prosodie et de la rime (il y a bien-sûr quelques exceptions comme Gainsbourg et quelques autres.) Mais pour en revenir à Iggy, il était à l'abri financièrement après sa tournée triomphale de retour avec les Stooges dans les années 2000 et avec Internet il finissait sur le tard à vendre ses albums cultes. Il a galéré très longtemps, obligé de tourner sans arrêt pour pouvoir vivre de ses chansons. Il n'était pas obligé de reprendre Joe Dassin ou de se mettre à poil pour des étudiants en dessin. Il est allé trop loin. Dylan (que j'adore tout autant qu'Iggy, mais pour des raisons différentes) n'était pas obligé de faire quelques pubs pour se renflouer financièrement) A la fin ces mecs craquent et se prostituent. En fait, chaque homme est en contradiction devant Dieu. La grâce, le génie ne sont pas accordé indéfiniment. Il faut sans cesse chercher Dieu pour rester dans le bon chemin et conserver la grâce dans son art. Van Gogh, Antonin Artaud et d'autres ne se sont jamais prostitués. Ils sont restés incorruptibles. Pensant à leur Art et non à l'argent. Iggy chantant Joe Dassin ou Jacques Prévert (Yves Montand) est allé trop loin; il n'apporta rien de plus aux chansons; il voulut montrer qu'il pouvait placer sa voix comme un crooner; il n'avait pas besoin de faire cela; on savait qu'il savait chanter très bien. On peut toujours se faire plaisir en reprenant une chanson populaire, bien-sûr. Mais en général on essaie de la jouer différemment, c'est l'intérêt. C'est ce qu'a su faire Bowie en reprenant magistralement le "Let's spend the night together" des Stones.

    He was famous for wearing long silver gloves and red underwear under his trousers, that he eventually dropped during the concert. In his biography, one of the Ramones who was at one of his early concerts tells some hilarious facts about that exhibition. Apparently he was pissed off because backage he hadn't managed to find the vein to shoot heroin. So he walked on stage in his underwear, sprayed some silver spray all over the stage then rolled in it; threw up, licked up the vomit, and did some other incredible antics.
