He was one of the lucky ones who survived and, cleanup their acts. I’ve enjoyed his music. I’m also a Trekkie. He guest starred on Ds9, the Magnificent Ferengi.

I’m lucky I got to see the stooges when I was a teen on their weirdness tour in 2006. Iggy had just turned sixty and was still as wild as I had hoped. RIP Ron Ashton

American wild on live thru the eyes of !

Saw Iggy on PBS in 1973 rubbing himself with peanut butter and cabbages cut in half. Blew my mind. Rediscovered him when I heard Soldier in 1979. All genius. Thank you Iggy. Wish you so much happiness.

Candy with Kate from the B-52’s was a song I’d play for my kids when they were toddlers. Who doesn’t like candy?!😂❤

I bought the 1st Stooges album after it soon came out after I had heard "I Wanna Be Your Dog". The beginning of that song is one of the greatest ever, if not the greatest. It began with a wild kickass Guitar feedback riff reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix, and then the Christmas bells kick in perfectly causing me to go into an implausible music-induced stupor. Iggy then kicks in with the reality "I'm so messed up, I want you here" which is exactly what I was. That song knocked me off my feet. I was a big fan, saw him once in New York at the Filmore when he was touring with Bowie. It's a shame if that show wasn't recorded. He did things I've never seen on any of the concerts available on free KZread. It may be available to KZread subscribers? At the Filmore in New York City (1) He somehow contorted his body to fit inside a normal size wooden kitchen chair; (2) He then sat backward on the chair while singing 'China Girl' wearing a German-style helmet, sans any swastika or any other kind of Nazi regalia. (3) After Iggy sang the line "I'll give you men who want to rule the world," he then danced around the stage with the chair swinging it around wildly and violently before smashing it to pieces over his helmeted head. (4) Iggy then proceeded to climb up the scaffolding on the side of the stage and when he was about 80 feet over the middle of the stage proceed to hang by his knees upside down. It was scary. I've been on a 'Search and Immerse' Iggy Pop videos mission on free KZread. One constant is Iggy Pop's politeness and consistent honesty about every subject that's inevitably discussed in every interview. He only strayed from that only once that I've seen when discussing his influences. Most surprisingly, on a show called the 'CBS VAULT' Iggy Pop goes on a diatribe manifesting great sincerity about his hated of Punk Rock enumerating a list of revolting criticisms, and finishing it by telling the interviewer "I don't want to hear it come out of anybody's mouth." Iggy finishes by saying to the show's host, "Sir, do you understand what I'm saying? " The host responds by saying, "You don't have to call me Sir." Iggy smiles and says, "No I don't but I forgot your name." You could tell he was up in the ozone layer. It's hysterical.

Iggy, Bowie, Lou Reed and Patti Smith for me is the beginning of an era. Still listen to their music.

I saw Iggy Pop in London a few years ago. He played about 3 songs off his solumn, introspective jazz album and went 'who wants to hear some stuff from the 70s' took off his shirt and went into nightcrawler. Cool as fuck.

I saw him as part of the Psychedelic Stooges in 1968 at 'Mothers' in Romeo, Michigan. Great show, and one I'll never forget. Iggy (James Osterberg) spent the night in jail following the show. BTW, I still live within 5 miles of the location of that show.

He played a Vorta on Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

He also performed backroom stage at Max's Kansas City in NYC where his real fame was made.

I saw Iggy in 1981 at the Pontiac Silverdome during the Tattoo You Tour, when he opened for the Rolling Stones. Of course he was from Michigan so this was his hometown crowd. He was wearing a tight black sweater-dress. After he danced around for about 3-4 songs, the dress worked it's way up higher and he wasn't wearing anything underneath, so you could see his "JUNK". As he was dancing and "swinging IT around" like a helicopter ("IT" was very large), and the acoustics there always sounded like crap, the crowd began to boo loudly and throw things at him. We stood on main floor (field level general admission) which had no seats, and we were pretty close to the stage. He played on for several more songs throughout the boos, dodging the items people were throwing and it was very getting scary, but he wouldn't stop playing for what seemed like a long time. I mean, people were throwing a lot of things, like a shower, and he was getting hit. Finally it got too scary and he gave up, left the stage. After a while they announced all of the stuff they collected from the stage that was thrown, which was a lot. Coins, batteries, lighters, perfume/cologne bottles, you name it. Then Santana came out next and blew everyone away, before the Stones played, when I was almost trampled!

Iggy is the shit I am a big fanatical fan I want to play guitar without a shirt and be a misunderstanding misunderstood person. We will miss Iggy just like Bowie. Time is a weird thing, .but the music will still survive. It's eternal.

I remember seeing Iggy on Countdown, an Australian Music tv show, late 70's?. In an interview with Molly Meldrum ( an iconic & much loved music guru, here in Australia ❤️). Iggy was so off his head!!!! My god, it was bizzarre & chaotic!!😲 At the time, I was turned off by the display, being in early teens. Never really been a Iggy fan,just not my taste, tho glad to hear that he is clean, and still has his passion for music🤘👍.

Mayhem chaos & wildly entertaining lunacy ensued Molly Meldrum played a clip of Iggy galivant pose & go batshit wearing a shiny white suit looking suitably sh*tfaced smashed, 'I'm Bored' I think? Far from being turned off, my outrageously precocious enthusiasm for this brilliant madman was palpable, promptly went practically epileptic in my earnest attempts to imitate Iggy & his wildly entertaining gyrations & gurning visage. I loved Iggy then & have ever since, Ron Asheton too, The Stooges kick arse. But.. but but fair-dinkum gospel every syllable of this grotesque nostalgic rant is; What sent me completely octopus-sh*t friggin' berzerk as a kid was in '75, Molly puts the clip of 'Long Way to the Top' ! It was the crunching overdriven mind-blowing skull-crushing riffs & chords Malcolm Young dished up.. holy f*ck! wtf? it just blew my 6yo🤯brains out all over the joint like a mad womans' sh*t. Grew up in Michigan went to the grande every weekend, seen stooges and mc5, more time than I can remember, iggy was a wild motherfucker to say the least, but we loved it, I was lucky to grow up with all the great music grand funk seeger frost Alice cooper so many more, I'm old now but have great memories and stile ride a harley

I just saw him 2 hours ago.

I find myself liking more and more of his stuff especially the newer stuff. Just reminds me of Alice Cooper. A nice guy all in all. Lots of rockers became assholes like axl rose. Granted he's very talented too, but just fell from grace. I'd rather hang out with Tommy Lee of Motley Crue.

@@bacht4799 i totally love the movie, and the song. but it has nothing to do with saving any carrier. it was the end of his best part of carrier. then was a break, and then was second half of carrier, 1986-today. it is iggy stooge 67-74, iggy pop 77-83, and post pop depression 86- today. i myself was totally fortunate to see em lots of times during the reunion years with ashetons, and it was fantastic.

I love their story so much. The story of Iggy Pop is one of a ture artist- the reason for being a human being. He is the pivot of amazing artists in music and film. And then... not every song nor every album is amazing, but man, they have songs that sneak into dreams, and will always touch us. but his punkness and reklessness really make his unique and an inspiration. He deserves everything and I wish he has a long life and stick around.

Perhaps... If you take a good look at popular culture and who he has influenced beyond what is mentioned in the video, you'd see it. The man has also entered the cultural consciousness by appearing on Star Trek, in addition to John Waters and Jim Jarmusch films... But most significantly is the impact of his musical influence and personal relationship with David Bowie, and his albums "The Idiot" and "Lust for Life". Pop has earned respect by "playing the long game" in becoming an icon for generations since the 80's. Not only has he influenced music since then, but he's highly intelligent, down to earth, and a survivor.

Ray Manzarek meant to have him replace Jim Morrison. It all fell through because Iggy was as addicted as Jim and mad as a hatter.He thought he was an exceptional performer, the" Nijinsky of rock". You can find the interview on youtube.
