Here is a short video from Rob's Iceman's 4th day of construction. Today the final sanding was completed with a combination of some 1000 grit sandpaper and a 3000 grit sanding sponge. That was followed up with a course compound and a firm pad. I was using my Bosch sander, with a foam pad, while this works okay, it does not have the higher RPMs that a polisher has. I did notice the converted sander was not wanting to turn the pads very effectively, due to the increased friction caused by the compound-loaded foam pad.
I also was having problems with the age of the compounds, while the first two compounds worked well, the third was acting like it was contaminated. So I tossed out all of the compounds and polishes and will replace them with some higher quality 3M products. I also am going to shop around for a high-quality polisher, as you can never have enough tools!!
Up next I will finish off the polishing stage and top that all off with an automotive wax, and get the bridge and ground wire installed,
