I figured it out with the 2010 Prius, they are super finicky with spark plugs. Switch them out it and it should fix the issue with the death rattle at start up. I switched mine out and haven't had the issue since.

I miss the old school Datsun, Toyota, Ford ranger/ Mazda, chevy love / s10 pickups. Would totally restore one to use for car show cruising on weekends. Actually owned, a datsun pickup, a small sized toyota, and a s10. Loved driving all of them.Thx for sharing

Yeah, the B series is a Ford. We had it as the Ford Courier over here in South Africa.

VSC/Check Engine on Toyota is usually an O2 sensor.

My first vehicle was a 91 Mazda B2600i Cab Plus SE-5. My grandpa bought it in the mid 90's to flat-tow behind his RV and ended up gifting it to me. Then, my uncle got it in 1999 and still drives it. Think it has over 250k on it now. 121 hp, 149 lb ft. Probably pretty gutless with the autobox, but they're pretty peppy with a 5 speed. The sound of it cranking over brings back some memories. These were so simple and easy to work on. They did seem to like to leak out of the valve cover. Mine had an ECU failure where it would drop 2 cylinders which was fun when it would randomly happen trying to go down the highway.

I think your right about the excursions .wow your going to let someone use you stuff that's awesome 👌very very generous.

I had friends that had those years Prius’s. It’s the water pump. When it’s done for, they do that. Friends told me it’s a $600-$800 fix. $500 if you’re handy. That Prius is a quick fix.

The Toyota and the Mazda would be great for someone. We sold a highlander at the auction with 395k on the clock. It ran perfectly and had just one tiny blemish on the armrest.

I had a Mazda B2200 and loved it. The fuel injected B2600i was my dream back then. Sorry for your loss. Hope your shoulder heals. Seriously consider seeing a chiropractor.

The Highlanders are known for transmission problems. The trans cooler is built into the radiator and when it fails, it leaks coolant into the transmission. The bands are held together with water soluble glue and they start to separate.

That's a good little Mazda truck my uncle had one it lasted a long time .and yes you can fit in back seat I did as a teenager

Back in the late 90’s I was parting out Mazda B2000’s. I had so many ads in The Trading Times that salvage yards were calling me for parts. The gas tanks eventually leaked from rust and the head gasket failing between 150,000 and 180,000 were common. They ran horribly if you fed them any ethanol gasoline. The 1986 models had the brake line going back to one of rear wheel cylinders then across the axle to the other wheel cylinder. I had persistent problems with the rear brakes doing nothing even after going through all of the brakes and replacing the proportioning valve. Mazda changed the rear brakes to the line going to a T in 1987. But the engines were darn good. My first was was an SE-5 sky blue metallic 1986 and it actually turned heads in the first few years I had it.

And those B2000’s had non replaceable u-joints in the drive shafts. It was common for people to cut off the end of the drive shafts and installing ends with replaceable u-joints. I got lots of calls for drive shafts.

Great trucks. I use to have 25 ish of them sitting i was parting out for years in the mid 2000s I got out of it around 2010 but I have a couple buddies they still have some in the back yard they use for parts and they buy junk ones when they pop up

Those Mazda trucks are still being used all over the town I am in, in Mexico.

My Prius used to have the same raddling noise car had 192k miles

Thats so funny, I have a 1987 Mazda B2000 thats the cab plus like that one except mine is red.....The Ironic thing is, I also have a Chevy Monte Carlo thats the same color as the one sitting beside the truck. 21:40 that's just the EGR. The path to the plenum gets clogged in a few cylinders and it will fire unevenly. It stops when you give the throttle because it makes the EGR close. No parts needed for this one... Just a few tools and patience

He made a valuable point he said if you work in his shop you cannot sue him for nothing and I would definitely record the person in my shop because people steal stuff every day or day. So you can’t come after him for nothing

A technician I used to work with had one of these come in making that noise (customer thought it was an exhaust rattle). It was a bad head gasket.

To delete that vsc, brake and check engine is a common problem for the Toyota small suv's. If you change the charcoal cannister and clear the codes it should clear those lights on the dash. It happened to my daughter's Rav 4.

The EGR ON THE Toyota Prius are bad about getting stopped up thats what is most likely what's causing that noise.

There's a roller bearing out in the hamster wheel . Causing a slight pitch variation therefore the rattling noise ,🤔
