Mecca is a city that I’ve always wanted to visit, but unfortunately, I’m not allowed to visit as a non-Muslim. Of course, I respect the rules and the Islamic religion, so instead of physically going to Mecca, I FaceTimed my friend, Abdullah, who went there and gave me a grand tour. And it’s absolutely amazing!!!!
Have you ever been to Mecca, Saudi Arabia? I’d love to hear from you! Comment below.

My wife & I converted to Islam in 1991 and performed our pilgrimage in 2018. There was such a mix of emotions. There was a feeling of being in a place of great history, the same place where 5 millennia earlier, Abraham had built the Ka'bah, that 15 centuries earlier, Muhammad had tried to guide people to the enlightened and straight path, land that you are following in both of their footsteps. There was a very strong sense of unity of purpose -- everybody was there for one purpose and one purpose alone: to serve their Creator. There was a feeling of belonging: this is where you were supposed to be. And you were grateful to be there.

As a revert myself, going to Makkah has been one of the most emotional experiences in my life. Being from Colombia I saw this place so distant. But when I arrived and saw the kaaba I just started crying (unexplainable)... like seeing something that seemed impossible to reach, being grateful and blessed, and also feeling so much in peace with myself and my surroundings. The feeling in this sacred place is like nothing elsewhere; for those who believe, feeling the presence of our creator🙏🏻

When Jesus died, the curtain in the temple tore from top to bottom. This signifies the barrier between God and man was gone. This means that you don’t need a priest inbetween. You can directly ask God for forgiveness. The priest cannot forgive sins for you. That’s something between you and God directly. Also, the bible says not to worship idols. In the Catholic Church, you pray to Mary etc. This idolises her and takes away from God. You should only pray to God, no one else. God bless

You don’t need to do any of that. Talk to God directly. Would you pray to a celebrity dead or alive? Absolutely not, because that is idolisation. Whatever path you choose, please make sure you ask God directly for forgiveness of your sins as when the time comes, you will be held accountable for your actions because you have not asked God to forgive you, you have instead asked a man (the priest) to forgive you.

Mashallah! I performed Umrah Hajj for the first time back in 2014. I was still a teenager then and my parents wanted all of us (my siblings and I) to experience an opportunity of a lifetime for our faith. I am not a religious person, until now I’m still not very pious. But visiting Makkah, Madinah and performing little hajj, changes your perspective. I am in my mid 20s now and Inn Shaa Allah, I wish to come back and maybe perform Hajj the next time. Thank you Drew for this. I grew up in a country where majority are Catholics (Philippines), so being respectful of religious beliefs is very much ingrained into our consciousness and it’s really heart warming to see someone doing this on such a huge platform and with a big following. ❤️ May Allah bless you always and keep you safe!

I don’t see the problem in constructing hotels and exhausting all means to make the experience of the guests of the house of Allah comfortable. I understand that not knowing what the face of old mecca looks like is a little sad it bothers me too, but the correct way of perserving this is to establish a museum that shows exact details of what the mosque looked like throughout the years along with the evolution of mecca.

And is having skyscrapers looming over the Kaaba itself as respectful as possible to the heritage and faith of the pilgrims? I don't think so. Still, I agree that a museum showing how Mecca and the Kaaba itself were transformed from their original edifices to the contemporary appearances would be a great boon. Perhaps it could be on the outside of the city limits so those of us who are not Muslim could also view their transformations.

Whether one may or may not want large numbers to gawk at them during that time would be a personal choice but having the skyscrapers there compels them to BE gawked at whether or not they may individually want that. In any case, I'm glad Mr. Binksy got to see this via the facetime and to share this with those of us who will never be able to venture within.

He's not gonna convert, give it a rest. He's perfectly fine without your cult..why is it that Muslims and Christians are obsessed with proselytizing? Do you think he's going to hell if he doesn't convert? The fact that Drew and billions of other people are good people without religion is proof positive that morality has nothing to do with religious instruction. It just baffles me how indoctrinated people are..it truly is astonishing. Notice how Drew didn't even address your comment and only thanked you. It's best to ignore missionary mentalities..

    2 жыл бұрын

@@passingpositivity2592 They likely won't understand though, the vast majority of humans are incapable of seeing how detrimental religious faith is (or turn a blind eye due to societal taboos). Why? Because demographically and statistically, people of faith (as a monolith regardless of their diversity) make up the vast majority of people on this planet. Christians & Muslims alone account for roughly 1-in-2 people in this world: 4 out of 7 billion humans on this planet. I for one cannot wait for the day we lift the taboo around criticizing and mocking faith without being seen as the antagonists. Whenever I ask people why they don't see antagonism in monotheistic convictions, then their hypocrisy starts to show and they resort to stating givens and appeals to straw mans such as "BuT EvEryOnE Is EnTiTlEd To ThEiR OwN BeLieFs". That's what happens when children are indoctrinated into religions, they grow up failing to reason, and as years go by, it gets more difficult to shake off religious beliefs because they become so ingrained in their psyche. Islam and Christianity are LITERALLY apocalyptic cults - they have every hallmark and trait to qualify. I bet someone as smart and experienced as Drew knows this, but he's too polite and peaceful to cause a stir. After all, the last thing a public figure would want is hostility and to lose followers. Hell, in Islam's case, it would go further and would warrant a concern for one's safety as it is not unheard of to threaten and hunt down heretics and blasphemers. I cannot and will not be a sycophant over deranged theological ideologies. Anyone who thinks Abrahamic religions present an overall rational, moral, progressive and scientific message is either indoctrinated, gullible or just downright idiotic.

The Sa'i (a little jog)between the hills of safa and marwa is to commemorate what Hajra did to find water for her baby(ismaeel). This is the same water which is called zamzam, which is served in mecca and bought home to our countries. Thanks for the video. Can't wait to go there again it's such a beautiful place.

    Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: To run along the valley between two green pillars of Safa and Marwa (mountains) was not Sunna, but the people in the pre-islamic period of ignorance used to run along it, and used to say: "We do not cross this rain stream except running strongly. Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 3847 In-book reference : Book 63, Hadith 72

Hey Drew, I just wanted to tell you that yesterday I met a family from Afghanistan, here in Wisconsin as I was ice fishing outside their house on the river. Meeting them made me think of you and your videos in Afghanistan. The father was in the Afghan Army, and fought along side the U.S. they were able to escape when the Taliban took over. They were so very nice, and I'm happy I got the opportunity to meet them, and show them what it's like to ice fish! Lol I know Afghanistan is one of your favorite countries. Anyways, I just wanted to share that with you! Not sure if you'll even see this.... lol
