This is a long video and hopefully I didn't make any errors during it. If you have any questions or need clarification feel free to leave a comment and I will gladly answer! Also, I mentioned a Radiohead song that plays a minor chord with its b6 on top. That is a live version of a tune called "True Love Waits", where he plays an E minor with a C on top.

Love your content dude. It's so rare to find KZreadrs that are just as interested in talking about music as they are just showing off. Not to mention the melody was of the quality every single guitarist covets.

Incredible... such awesome and valuable instruction. My only comment would be to speak a tad slower for people like me who need a few more seconds to comprehend. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to helping others.

Inspiring! Working my way through your patreon learning play-list. Question on your setup… You seem to be switching through the chord progression at whatever pace you want… is it done with a daw and a midi controller?

Great question! When I'm doing a slow demonstration of the parts of the solo, I simply play the parts at whatever tempo I feel and then go back in and program the synth to match the timing of the parts. Long story short, the chords in the background are done in post!

Probably my least favorite of all Prince's popular songs ... LoG is saying that the song is very simple and no one knows what the lyrics mean.. but they parrot it none tha less ! 😂

Good solo...too many notes. The solo needs to let some notes hang on a lot longer, like you're singing. Some rests would be great too. I don't find this kind of solo'ing to be enjoyable, even though I really like your playing.

Wish I could play leads like this, I've been stuck in the same type of playing for years now when it comes to leads, my understanding of chords aren't good at all, I tend to just stay in the main key of the track, but your playing emphasises the track so much nicer.

What I might do if I were you is to write a solo note for note start to finish, and force yourself to land on chord tones of each chord as they happen. If you're not sure what the chord tones are, just simply play the standard bar chords of the progression and just look at the notes inside of those bar chords as landing spots. In the beginning, strategically land on these notes the moment the chord changes, that will lock you into that chord the moment it happens and give you that "shifting" feel. The more you do this and think about it, you'll train your ears to hear the notes of each chord, and it will be easier to navigate. You can even just use the normal scale of the key for the in between stuff that you play, but make sure that you choose and land on the specific notes of each chord the moment they change. If you are not used to this, do not try improvising. It will be difficult and confusing, and you will get frustrated which may prevent you from practicing this. This is why I specifically say write a solo start to finish, as you have control over every note that you play and you can choose those notes way in advance and not have to worry about them popping up in your mind immediately. The more you do this, improvising will start to get easier and easier.
