Interesting. I’ve finally tried minecraft for the first time last week. I downloaded the switch version and am enamoured by it. I love it. Also, like many others, I was heavily addicted to mqb demo as well. I couldn’t afford $70 for dqb, so I tried minecraft and love it. Tomorrow I am considering buying bayonetta. Never played any of them, though 60 FPS in an action game that to me- am reminded of ninja Gaiden on OG Xbox as well as dark souls- is seeming like a no brainer. Frankly, if I had the funds, there would be no discussion about any of these titles. I’d have DQB, Bayonetta 1&2 as well as Minecraft all downloaded on my Switch. It’s having to decide between one or the other that makes constant watching of KZread gameplay something I feel the need to do. Are you enjoying bayonetta? Would you compare it to other action games like ninja gaiden black (if you remember those games) or like dark souls? I’ve never played dark souls either. I’m looking forward to May, however Bayonetta looks similar enough to scratch that part that enjoys fast action games. Do you recommend bayonetta? What do you think now you’ve owned it for a while? Thanks!!

Combining minecraft with the village management of The Sims and the expansive and gigantic fantasy world of Dragon Quest is genius. It kind of reminds me of how no one thought Disney and Final Fantasy would go together until Kingdom Hearts came out. Sometimes the most creative ideas are the wacky ones.

Thanks to you, I've been playing the demo non stop for 7 hours! I really do love this game so far. I almost completely passed this game up, but I'm enjoying it so much! Thank you for making a video on this one!

Jason dp you can always go back to the old worlds if you want to improve them but you cant take the bases with you to the next chapter cos its supposed to be a fresh start

Checking this review out after I've been playing the game nonstop for the last few days (thanks to this vid). It's really funny to see someone else's base. We went in completely different directions. You went for practical I think while my base has a lot of different shapes, 2nd floors, towers, stairs. (Even a rooftop garden ). I loveee just spending hours building new ideas. You recommended this to me, you owe me a life, mate 😭❤

Yes! I’m not the only one!!! The game is so amazing! The story is so captivating, the building is really smooth and most importantly... you can moonwalk! But seriously, it’s a game which masters creativity and deserves to be called one of the best dragon quest games

I’ve been playing the Demo of this game on the switch and recently bought the full game. The thing I think I enjoy most about it is it’s a relaxing game you can pour yourself a drink 🥃 kickback and just build things.

Dragon Quest Builders is such a jolly game. You have nothing but smiles while playing it.

Your description at the beginning was like listen to myself talking. I also ignored this game because of those things, but now i will consider to try it sometime.

THIS IS THE GAME I PREORDERED FOR THE SWITCH AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I have never been so disappointed when a demo ended as this one, and immediately had to go buy it.

Your channel is great. Not sure why I'm just now coming across but please don't stop.

I've been addicted to it too. I noticed you mentioned the lady villager isnt sleeping in her room. It looked like it still said "write" when you passed by her room sign. You have to click that and assign it to her name. Maybe you already figured this out by now. I ended up making private rooms for all my villagers, gives you more points but I already maxed out my town by that point.

I'm so glad that I bought a switch. If I hadn't, then I wouldn't have stumbled on your channel again. Your videos are awesome man. Your energy and enthusiasm have got me pumped to play games again.

Yeah I picked this up and lost a full holiday weekend in chapter 1. I almost got hung up on the reset in to chapter two but you have a point in that building is the driving force in this game. In chapter 1 glass windows were easily made and I threw in a couple beach side window walled cave build outs.

I have been super addicted to DQB here lately as well. I’ve only beaten the first 2 chapters, and I can’t wait to accomplish even more! It’s so fun, and I never feel like “ugh I HAVE to do that?” I’m always ready for what’s thrown my way, although there are plot twists in chapter 2! Love it.

Praise the Lord. Someone made a video about this! I played the demo and enjoyed it but did not know if I should buy it or not. Thank you for helping me make up my mind😍

I bought a switch recently and was probably the only person who didn't buy zelda with it. I chose Dragon Quest Builders and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Got so invested in DQB that I haven't even opened Xenoblade.

I watched this 2 weeks ago. One of the first few videos from you that I watched. I have to say that I really love this game. I just finished it today and will be playing the sequel soon. Looking forward to more DQB2 videos from you Wood. Cheers. :)

After much debate last week, I picked this up and I'm in the same boat. I love the simplicity of the crafting, the quests, the humor and charm, and the artwork. The camera can get annoying sometimes, but I like that I can play the game at my own pace. You can spend 15 minutes in it and feel like you accomplished something, which is awesome on a portable console.

So funny, I just downloaded the demo and fell in love with it! Very slow and hand holdy when you first start but after that it’s amazing!

Terraria is my favorite sandbox. Simple building, fun fights, and a decent amount of challenge

This was actually the same for me. I generally dislike crafting and Minecraft games, but this game, I tried the demo and bought it the next day. It is so good.

Love this game too. Searching for wheat in part 1 atm, base at lv 4. Also found it odd Pippa never sleeps in her room.

I have zero relationship to the dragon quest series and generally don't tend to get into RPGs. So for me, when I looked at this game, it was actually the Minecraft part that drew me in. I completely acknowledge that Minecraft can get dull after a while since you have to be the driving force behind everything you do since there isn't much overall objective in the game. What drew me in here was that there would be much more structure to the experience, actual objectives and quests to do. Doesn't hurt that the game is visually very nice as well. The crafting is very simplified, no plotting resources down into a grid to make things, you just pick what you want to craft and if you have the resources the game lets you do it. I'm seriously in love with this game, and very happy I got it. I look forward to playing the other chapters and to play the sequel when it comes out!

Actually it was the creative monsters part what did this series for me back in 2010 and by playing this, I'm beginning to get interested in Minecraft and probably Terraria too!

I am enjoying portal knights, which has online play. But no one seems to play it online on the switch. Which is world building but mainly focuses on the rpg aspects.

You can make a roof. Just make it four blocks tall for more camera space. I made a four story building with a winding staircase. With creativity you can make them qualify as rooms.

I watched half of this review and I for one do not like Minecraft but when you said it was addictive I was like really man?? because I saw this on e shop n thought it looked dumb and confusing like Minecraft... so I decided to download the demo.... and oh my freakn god!! this game is addicting and fun! I can't stop building my base!! I haven't even played the quest yet I have just straight been building and it's freakn amazing! everyone should get this game .. n this is coming from a guy that strictly plays resident evil , doom , wrestling games, and stuff like that.. this is the 1st time I've ever played a building type game like this and it's wayyy AWESOME!

Yeah, I think the game could have a ton of potential for the 2nd one coming out this year. I wish they would give more tools for players to create what they want. With the dialogue and everything involved in the game, people could create full stories for others to play. Imagine starting out and then getting to visit someones city they made and having to go through an entire storyline. Not sure how feasible that is as western developers are much less likely to provide those types of tools to players in my experience.

This is based around Dragon Quest I (1986). Builders 2 will be based on Dragon Quest II (1987). People who experienced it for the first time talked about how huge it was compared to the first one (1st one was actually really short but DQII had a world fourth times its size) and was also the first to have party members. It COULD be (and I'd love) if that was the case too, and you could visit some unique storylines in places like Dirkandor or Burrowell! Still, I wouldn't bet on it and just hope they fix up some things in this one like having a different button for the menu and being able to rotate furniture.

I bought this game for my Playstation Vita and I'm in love with it too. It's great for portable systems.

Me too, I can't stop playing Dragon Quest Builders. Also, I have Minecraft but I get bored of it every time I try to play. Also, there is a mode in Dragon Quest Builders called Terra Incognita that opens up after you finish the first chapter where you can freely build and share your creations with other players. The Sabrecub is so fun to run around with and jump on enemies heads in that mode.

Same exact opinion I have. I think why I love DQ Builders but not Minecraft is that there is an actual PURPOSE and a story to drive you forward... Its also why I liked Zelda BotW more than Skyrim. Freedom doesn't automatically equal a good game.
