I'm at 50hours and haven't even finished act 1 of 3. It's amazing and I usually hate JRPG's. Would have never thought I'd love it so much, and the fact that it's not open world is the only reason I'm still playing. Love the semi open/linear world design, it's already big enough.

I never played dragon quest before this game...and I will say it’s amazing! The adventure is so long and well thought out. Worth! There’s also a 10 hour demo available if you’re sitting.

I got 3 1 in Sept 2017 2 in Jan 2018 3 in April 2019 However they're all the original one not v2 or Lite, planning to get the v2 mybe next year

First dragon quest game I've played. One of the best RPGs I have ever played. Enjoying the story, the battle system, characters and the soundtrack. I mean the soundtrack is incredible I cannot even give it justice trying to explain how good the orchestration is. I love the switch so much right now. Thank you for the review dude 🙏😁

Pro Zach I played the 3DS version and only thing I wish it did have to improve it further would be some voice acting since it's still all text like the original though I could imagine each of the charicters voices in my head Like Kiefer I think should sound like Joseph Joestar, Maribel sounds sounds like Mia from Xenoblade 2 and Ruff is basically Luffy from One Piece if he talked like Tarzan XD

When they said definitive edition they meant it. There's about 80 new features and adjustments over the original release!

It really is an awesome Zelda sweater and shirt! I had never played dragon quest either but the demo sucked me in and I had to buy the game. The story, especially in the beginning, actually reminded me of Prince of Egypt/ Moses. Thanks for the video Wood!!

I'm so glad you're getting into the Dragon Quest series. It's such a great franchise, but doesn't get much love outside of Japan. I also imported that Dragon Quest Edition Nintendo Switch and it's so beautiful! So glad it has decals on the actual system and not just a plain system with special Joycons. P.S. Play *Dragon Quest IX: Sentinel of the Starry Skies* for Ninendo DS. It's my favorite by far!

in japan it is a zucchini in America it is a cucumber. so i think a pickle is acceptable to call it too. basically any name of a green pointy vegetable works 🥒 i also call it a pickle

It revolted against it's human masters. It took the toothpick that kept it on top of the sandwich and used it too attack us. Thus perverting the way nature intended.

I'm a big dq fan I put 200 hours into ps4 version of dq xi and double dipped and put in another 150 hours into definitive edition. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

Same for me. This is the first Dragon Quest i ever played. Been wanting to play the Series, just never got round to it. I want to get one of those Slime Controllers.

I got all that stuff too. In fact I got TWO of the DQ Edition Switches (each with a 1TB micro SD, one for digital only of all the best games, the other for physical + digital only games), the Slime controller, and the game digitally and physically.

Both DQ and Zelda really are similar to eachother in the sense that both franchises really like to sell the adventure in a fairly tale medieval setting. The main difference being that one is an action adventure game while the other is a turn base RPG.

the AI on the automatic combat is actually pretty good and there multiple settings so you can have them act how you want them to it's actually a godsend for grinding.

I love this game so much. The music is also crazy good.

Dragon Quest 11 is my number one favourite RPG it has taken the spot this year. The voice acting the music a battle systems the story the graphics especially if you played this on PC in 4K it’s gorgeous and I’m loving it on switch as well.

I grew up with Dragon Quest, back when it was called ‘Dragon Warrior’ on the NES. Dragon Warrior 4 was one of the best games I ever played an the NES. Fantastic and huge. I’m really excited to catch up with the franchise, since that’s the last Dragon Quest game I played.

Hey Brother, I watch you for the background behind all of that hair. I would be happy with Majora's mask alone.

I absolutely LOVED Dragon Quest XI on PS4! It was just so well done on every level and the game was HUGE! Even if you don't do most of the side-quests you could spend 100 hours+ on the game! There was just so much content! The story was great! So much quality voice acting! Visuals were beautiful! I don't know what the actual sales were in North America but whatever they were, it wasn't nearly enough! Underrated I'm sure! Best JRPG game, Best RPG game in general in a long long while!

The reason Dragon Quest is like all those things is because Dragon Quest came up with these tropes and other series copied them because of its popularity in Japan. Not a bad thing though since Dragon Quest is so good.

As i dive 50 hours into this game and still not finishing act2 , the more i regret starting this fantastic game on the PS4, the addition of the functions on the Switch makes this 10/10 game a solid 11/10 plus that extra Syl storyline, the special switch console ANDZ JAPNESE dub? Great video

Today I finished Dragon Quest XI S DEMO on switch, it took me 6 hours, after that I ordered the full game, I never played any Dragon Quest before, and it's one of the best game on switch (after DK) .

Trials of Mana remake when it is released is probably gonna be a good rpg. A remake of a snes game that went under another name in Japan that didn't get released until it came in a secret of mana bundle on switch. It's good. But I'd say wait for the remake. I can't imagine how cool it will be remade.

It's nice to see that Wood is a fan of The Good Place.

The dragon quest series is basically the genesis of JRPGs

@@I_was_a_Bullfrog i tried the demo and didnt really like the washed out colors compared to pc version. If they skim on the graphics to make it run then at least make the game look more vibrant. Vibrant colors doesnt really affect performance. Mortal combat 11 also looks garbage because of the colors lol

The composer for dragon quest is one of the greatest of all time, but they always repeat the same melodies when they add it to the games until they get annoying, and even though there are great orchestral recordings of his work, they recreated the same old songs in poor quality synthy-sounding samples. The one that pisses me off is actually the happy main theme that they use for all the trailers and main menus of the games, because Koichi Sugiyama has written so much better stuff than that, but the devs have to stick to the "icons" of dragon quest I guess. They didn't add any new melodies to fit the new game specifically either. Zelda, in contrast, has almost no voice acting budget, but they spend more on the music, even though the new melodies aren't coming from the original composer anymore.

Thats bc in the ps4 version you have to do midis and the music in dq11 isnt as good as prev titles, however on the swich you can change that to orchestral music and also play the dq8 music which is widely known as the best dq music, so im not sure as to your point

Luckily the Switch version has orchestrated music and you can change the over world theme to the one used in DQ8 for a change of pace

Jai Ko I mean I like Zelda it's my favorite franchise but BOTW has alot of flaws people overlook -_- that makes it less repayable to me than older games. DQ 11 is so dam good I want remakes of every DQ game to be more like it because it's so good its hard to go back and play the others even though I want to. Also it has a sky wale as your air ship so basically you have the wind fish for your ride in this game XD

Just played the demo on Tuesday, brought the game on Wednesday and can't stop playing on Thursday 😆 it's so good omg

That seems like the perfect controller to give to your friend when playing smash or mario kart together

He does not have a Dragon Quest addiction. That was a bullshit rumor based on ONE picture of him playing in his room.

Dude I love this game

Last time I played a DQ game was on Nintendo DS. DQ IX was awesome! I like the customizable character feature!

Ah, a true human of culture

I need this now. I started playing Dragon Quest Builders so its cool seeing all those monsters in a different game.

Nice review Wood. I really love the game. I played it first on the PS4 but i needed it on the switch as well. I like the extra content on the switch so much and the best ist the extra story for all the characters which you hadn‘t on the PS4 and which felt a little like you have missed something.
