I Tried Hiring "Dark Web" Hackers...

Комедия

There are all kinds of spam posts claiming that a "dark web hacker" solved all of their problems. I tried interviewing and hiring a few of them. Spoiler: they have no clue what they're talking about.

Storing passwords in plain text and in plain view is actually a very good idea. That way you can store your passwords anonymously on Google and Wayback and nobody has a clue how to find them, except you. It can be a good idea for things like long-term offline storage, where you're likely to forget your password.

@Ok Dude: No, I'm serious. You probably think that a password looks something like a%jK35AD, right? My passwords look like this: «When Stein met my mother, he told a joke that was so boring she ended up not liking him». No keylogger will ever catch that password and it is absolutely impossible to crack. Nobody will ever recognize it as a password, but I will instantly recognize it as such. I will never be able to forget it or what it is the password for. No other living human could understand it. Give me a reason why I shouldn't store something like that in a chatlog, mailing list archive or blog post? The technique is called steganography and has been used successfully for hundreds of years, but has never been more useful than now.

I just want to say, that I have stumbled across Kit during lockdown but this one in particular has really touched me. My husband committed suicide last year but he worked in IT support and he loved all things computers. I just know that he would have loved this channel so much. All he did in his spare time was research computers, programming and how to improve. With every question asked in this video I can just imagine his reaction to the answers and he would be howling laughing. So, thanks Kit for making me smile when I think of him and I know that Neil will be watching you and loving your work. Thanks :)

@@petersamps I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

These types of scams aren't common for call centers. They do this all day at strange hours because they take calls around the world. They don't get paid by the hour so they just want to get it done and over with. My favorite scams to call are the love scams. They almost always are freelance, so you can call them at the worst times and they'll still spend at least an hour trying to get money. Just change your voice and call every 4 hours to see how long it takes before the sleep deprivation gets to them.

What does LAN stand for? Local Area Network How do you instantiate an array in C++? int arr[2] = {1,2} What's your favorite distro for Linux? Ubuntu but Kali Linux has a lot of "hacker-esque" tools out of the box What's the difference between bubble sort and merge sort? I haven't had to do this stuff since college but bubble sort loops through a list and compares two adjacent values and arranges them in order. It'll continue to loop through this list until it finds it's in proper order. Merge divides a list in two, then divides those by two, and so on until the entire list is broken down into single item arrays. Then begins to compare the values and puts them in the proper order then combines them. It'll repeat this process until it results it's the original list in a sorted order. Say some languages that you know.. Java, JavaScript, NodeJs, Python, C, Perl and a I do a lot of bash scripting. The difference between UDP and TCP The main difference is TCP is lossless meaning data transferred over this protocol is validated to have been received before the next piece is sent (think when you download a file, every bit of information has to be transferred or else the file will not be complete and thus corrupt) This is the benefit of TCP, to guarantee that data is transferred in the correct order and to it's entirety. You use it when receiving every piece of data is CRUCIAL i.e. downloading files. UDP on the other hand doesn't care if data is transferred, it'll continue to send packets even if the last piece wasn't confirmed, this is why UDP is used for voice and video like on Skype or Zoom. You ever noticed someone cuts out when theres a bad connection but then it returns? This is because UDP continues to send data whether or not the last piece of data was received successfully. I'm using high level terms here to get the point across, this can all be very complicated if you dive into it. I'm a software developer of 7 years.

I used Linux in our company. We had at that time 3,000+ people logged in. I went to our Mail room (not my desk one) and logged in. I knew the system and words to use. Next to the terminal was "A Linux book for dummy's" (mail room dummy's), on page 3 was "Wall". I typed "Wall" then "test", the phone rang and our "System Controller" said my name "What did you do"? I said Page 3 said "Wall", so I tried it? 3,000 people just saw a "split screen and the word test on the right screen". Linda was pissed she didn't read the "Book for Dummy's" and said "I need to remove this command", likely she got a phone call too. I was laughing for weeks, so glad I only said "Test", no one called me in, HAHA. And before this all happened a 14 year old boy hacked our message board, leaving his comments after he read weeks of our postings. Linda was responsible for this too. Crazy Day's back then, but what fun it was. So what company was this? My avatar I use should give you the clue. Where did Linda find another job you ask? Well she worked for "Mythbusters" and is listed the in the credits - associate producer / coordinating producer / producer (193 episodes, 2004-2014) ────────────────────░███░ ───────────────────░█░░░█░ ──────────────────░█░░░░░█░ ─────────────────░█░░░░░█░ ──────────░░░───░█░░░░░░█░ ─────────░███░──░█░░░░░█░ ───────░██░░░██░█░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░█░░░░██░░░░░█░ ────░██░░█░░░░░░█░░░░█░ ───░█░░░█░░░░░░░██░░░█░ ──░█░░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──░█░░░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──░█░░█░░░█░░░░░░░░█░░█░ ─░█░░░█░░░░██░░░░░░█░░█░ ─░█░░░░█░░░░░██░░░█░░░█░ ─░█░█░░░█░░░░░░███░░░░█░ ░█░░░█░░░██░░░░░█░░░░░█░ ░█░░░░█░░░░█████░░░░░█░ ░█░░░░░█░░░░░░░█░░░░░█░ ░█░█░░░░██░░░░█░░░░░█░ ─░█░█░░░░░████░░░░██░ ─░█░░█░░░░░░░█░░██░█░ ──░█░░██░░░██░░█░░░█░ ───░██░░███░░██░█░░█░ ────░██░░░███░░░█░░░█░ ──────░███░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░█░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░░█░ ──────░█░░░░░░░░░░░░░█░

I remember being a freshman in high school 10 years ago, 2010-ish. I might be misremembering but, I feel like smartphones weren't that .. idk mainstream yet ? At the very least, not to be hacking into ? I had a Sidekick, the one that slid up the screen to show a keyboard beneath it but, still had a half-way decent touch screen. It wasn't a current day smartphone, that's for sure.
