    Yup. While it is possible for the legit Paypal to have phone numbers on file for customer's accounts and to have an auto pop feature that would pull the account up, they would have to verify the customer first before giving any info at all. Just the way she handled the call was a red flag that he wasn't dealing with the real Paypal.

    At PayPal, they don't need your name or account number. They don't even need or care to know if you _have_ an account at PayPal. They're a very magical company that already knows everything about you, whether you tell them or not.

    @@randomstuff-qu7sh I had one SMS saying I owe some money. I check the number, it was bank. I called it, guy picked up and I asked what it is about. He asked me what is my name, on which I said, he should know that if they write me. And he did, except instead of me it was name of my friend who gave my number as a contact, so I told them her contact and that was it. So they do know, but the name is probably all they have. Banks don't show data to random operators and if they want to go further, they need to enter your birth date or some code.

    Ya those are fairly new, and as a tech person myself it scared me for just a moment when I first saw the hacker ones, but there are tells when an email is nonesense. Even if it isnt obvious and you dont know how to look at the mailer source, just wait. That's always the best course of action for something claiming to be a big deal that makes you afraid (like, oh we're the fbi and you broke the law, or I'm a hacker and I know what you did or I have your info). If it's real they'd contact you again in some way that isnt so vague or if it was the government they'd show up at your house. If a "hacker" really cares about you (I just want to be clear right here- unless you're some kind of public figure no hacker cares about extorting you personally) and leaking what you do online they'd make it pretty obvious to you that they mean you and it won't be so vague because they know how computers work and they would know they can do that very easily. These emails are always vague and using scary words to make people overreact to them. So, the best course of action is to take a breath, remain calm, and just move on. Completely ignore it. Nothing important in those ways randomly pops up in your email with vague details. It just doesnt happen.

    I was looking for a puppy and ended up on a website where the prices seemed to be good to be true. I did a reverse image search on some of the photos and found out the photos of the pups came from old ads, some were 2 - 7 years old. I actually messaged them knowing it was a scam just to see how they'd proceed, he sent me more fake photos which I also found online and some fake info. They wanted the shipping up front, so I asked where they were located, they said London, I told them I'm like 15 mins away from you I can pick up the dog and give you the money then, surprisingly he said okay. I messaged him when I 'got' there, he said he'd be there in 15 mins, then came the list of problems, I won't bore you with the rest but if you are looking for a dog do a reverse image search to find out of the dog has ever been listed before. That's where they steal the photos from.

    Also worth noting no reputable breeder will ship a dog. If you're seriously interested in buying a dog, insist on meeting the puppy first. If it's a scam, they won't show, if it's a breeder they'll usually make you sign something or pay half to put a hold on the puppy (if they're not yet 8 weeks). I was scared of being scammed so we drove 2.5 hours just to meet our puppy before committing to buying. Worries immediately washed away upon meeting them

    xDarkTrinityx Also worth noting (even tho it has nothing to do with being scammed) Is that it’s good idea to always ask to meet the puppies parents. Just to make sure they have a pleasant temperament, and that they are well taken care of. make sure they are not some poor scabby puppy mill dogs. If the people selling the puppy are reluctant to show you the parents it’s a red flag. DONT buy animals from sketchy people. 🙌

  • @tamikajade7989

    @tamikajade7989

    @@xDarkTrinityx I don't disagree with the rest of your comment, but it's not entirely true that reputable breeders won't ship dogs. My mum was a registered breeder for around 12 years and she sent quite a few puppies interstate due to there being a high demand for west highland white terriers (the breed that we had) and very few breeders in the country. Having a dog shipped over doesn't make a breeder any less reputable, but if you're planning to buy from someone who'll need to ship the dog make sure that you have plenty of proofs prior to paying them anything.

    @@scifigrl23 I don't know about the states, but in the UK, girls of ages 15-20 have been allowed in the scouts since 1976 (46 years ago), and girls 6 and up have been allowed for around 30 years... That's hardly modern "sjw" stuff. In 1908, before the Girl Guides were founded, Lord Baden Powell actually wrote a letter to a girl who said she was starting her own scouts patrol that it was a good idea. He said, "You can work on just the same lines as the boys, and so need not do much more dusting and sewing than they, although a little of both are often necessary for a scout." A manual put out the very next year actually included an optional scouts uniform for girls, though the formation of the Girl Guides meant that no girls ever joined and their early inclusion was forgotten for many years. As for why a girl would choose to join the scouts rather than the guides... It's not about getting one over the boys. It's not even a matter of principle really. It's mainly a LOT easier if all the kids in a family are part of the same scouting association. Similar meeting times, can reuse uniforms, the older kids can directly be role models... It's a great family activity! I think a lot of the outrage I've seen is based in overpoliticised American culture and the political opinions of the people who currently run the Boy Scouts of America. There are also a lot of people who misunderstand the scouting movement as being about making "boys into men", when it's actually about the universal values of Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief, and Co-operation. It's fine to have single sex troops or patrols - In some places, it really makes sense to. But scouting as a whole is for everyone who wants to be part of it. Letting girls into the boy scouts doesn't change its operation, core values or purpose. The only changes is how others will judge it... But as scouts, we're taught to not give a shit about that anyway. 😄

So 2 days later and hours on the phone with apple and we found out that the serial number was a cloned one and they were fakes. We tried to contact Mercari but they said because the transaction was complete and he did a test video he sent to them before he knew they were fakes they said that they would not give him a refund so now we are stuck with the sellers home address, $120 down the drain, and a pair of fake AirPod pros.

    @@tirsden wow...so its common practice to ship live animals? And legal? I thought it was just like a rare thing if necessary..or when ppl try to smuggle exotic animals in. Not just like an everyday kind of thing? Thats just crazy. Im in Australia so I think I got the "orange" reference ..but not sure?! Lol Sad to for the dead animals.

    Someday I would love to see Kitboga take on some of the weird invitations you get on FB. You know the ones where a person talks about how much their life changed because of some indian doctor that can only be contacted through Whatsapp. Or the ones that ask every woman to add them as friends because they "loved their posts so much" and want to talk to them.
