There are many non native English speakers that can easily pick up what is happening here though, those that actually look at having proficient English communication. Unlike these clueless scammers.

208 GTi I don’t claim to know any scammers but I’m skeptical of that. Most of the scammers sound too dumb to work in real call centers. Also because the scammers have to work on the time zone of their victims, and legitimate ones also work on American, UK, etc. time, it’d be hard for them to do two jobs like that at the same time.

How to spot a scammer ... They use these dippy phrases : "Each and everyting" "You just do one ting" "Give a dot" "Secure server" "Any single penny" "Dubloo Dubloo Dubloo" Their pronunciation: W's are said as V's, and vice versa. For example "Wait" becomes "Vait" and yet the same person would say "Virus" as "Wirus". Th is said as T. For example "Thing" becomes "Ting". Words ending with T's are spoken more like D's. "Dot" often sounds more like "Dod". Common practices: They load the command prompt and type "tree" and tell you it's a scan. It's not. They make your screen go black, and or zoom the website out, if you're daft enough to show them your bank account. They threaten to block your computer or bank account. Their accent: South Asian (Indian, Pakistani) Their name: Absolutely never a name from India or Pakistan .... despite the incredibly obvious accent. Their morals: Degenerate thieving scum.

He ended up quitting as when people heard his accent they would ask for someone else or tell him he was a scammer even though they called the number on their bill!

That moment when you literally spell it out for them, and they still don't get it

I think my S.O.'s been influenced by you, Kit. He works for a company who assist those who are hard of hearing, usually being the elderly. What he does is basically sit in and listen to a call between his client and the other person, and manually type up everything said in the call so his client can read it on their end, instead of struggling to actually hear it. He said gets an awful lot of these scammers calling his elderly clients, but whenever he does, he doesn't type up the actual convo, he just puts in: [Intelligible Speaking]. The scammers hang up after the second or third "WHAT" from the client, and then the number gets reported. Win-win. It's kinda sad though that if my S.O. wasn't kind of a "middle man" of sorts, a lot of his clients would probably get scammed.
