I spotted GAY graves, CELEBRITY graves and some VERY SAD graves on my cemetery walk today!

Today, I got my steps in by walking around Desert Memorial Park cemetery in Cathedral City, CA. On my walk, I answered some viewer and subscriber questions and I also spotted some new CELEBRITY graves and GAY graves that I wanted to share with you.

    You showed the grave of MARVYN ROY, and asked who he might be. I knew Marvyn. He was a fellow magician, and very famous and respected in the magic world. He and his wife Carol, were the opening act for Liberace for many years in Vegas, and on tour. Marvyn owned a magic theater nightclub in Palm Springs.

    That was really a beautiful and well-kept cemetery! I really love this video with the q&a as you were walking. I am very pleased that you are very aware of your surroundings when you are out and about. We all need to be aware and I know sometimes I'm so lost and what I'm doing that I forget to pay attention to what's going on around me. Not a good idea! I don't know how many steps you got in today, but you certainly shared a lot of information with us. Your videos are always like I am there enjoying a nice walk with a good friend! I was a Star Girl Scout until 18 (equivalent of Eagle Scout). We would keep up the forgotten paupers cemetery. It was a cemetery for homeless, or people without families. Very sad & I was wondering where the nearest cemetery is by your town. The county finally took over around 1987 & cleaned the place up.

    Hi Steve, I always enjoy your walks and talk videos. And I love how you get distracted while doing so. When I am on the phone in my house, I walk around a lot and I find myself getting easily distracted also! It's nice to know that I am not alone in this! Lol! :) Maybe if you wrote the questions down on paper, it would be easier than stopping your video to read them on your phone? And perhaps less editing for you? I'm not knowledgeable about editing and all that goes with it. I agree with you about the live streams while on your walks. It's just too much, it doesn't seem like it would be enjoyable for you! The only upside that I see to that is no editing! Lol! You can turn off the comments while streaming, then when the video posts, have the comments on like a regular video. You do have to have an account to comment on videos. Like you, I've always enjoyed walking around cemeteries. To me, they are peaceful, quiet and beautiful. Where my parents are buried, there are many fountains and beautiful sculptures around. I'm sure you know that back in the day, families would make a day of it and pack picnics to take to the cemeteries to visit their loved ones. I couldn't see myself doing that. Could you? I don't blame you about putting out your personal life and information. You do have to have boundaries when it comes to that. And people should respect that. Some people feel that just because you are a creator, they are entitled somehow to know everything about you. What do they call that today, spilling the tea or something like that. Have a wonderful weekend guys! Peace...

    Hi Stacy, i’m glad you can relate lol! 😄 thanks for the suggestions. I hadn’t thought about turning off the comments while I was doing the live stream. I thought that was the whole point of doing a live stream so you could talk and interact with people live, but maybe not. It would definitely make it a lot easier to edit. Since there wouldn’t be any editing lol! 😆 well, never say never. Maybe I will try one of these days. As we’re having picnics in the cemetery, yes I would love that. Especially if it was a family reunion, that would be so awesome. Unfortunately in California most of the large kind of cemeteries don’t allow picnics or gatherings or loitering. 😩 many of the California cemeteries are very very unfriendly to visitors. 🙁 thanks as always for sharing and have a great weekend. 😎👍

    Bernie Styles was the extras casting director you went to anytime you were filming in NYC. He started with Howard W. Koch on the original Manchurian Candidate in 1962 and completed his career with Hawk Koch in 1993 on Sliver. In between he worked with everyone including Arthur Hiller, Woody Allen, Bobby Greenhut, Norman Lear, Francis Coppola, Billy Friedkin, and on and on. Tyler Rafael Hoffman, 24, of Cathedral City was pronounced dead at the scene. Hoffman was riding a 2014 Suzuki DRZ400 westbound on Las Montanas Road when he "failed to slow for the curve at El Viento Road and continued in a westerly direction" before crashing into a commercial building, according to the CHP.

    Thanks so much for answering my question and in such detail. I can understand the fear of the coyotes. That would have been scary. (By the way, the TRH initials were for his name - Tyler Rafael Hoffman) Thanks again...do I get another question now? Do you have a particularly or memorably eerie thing that has happened in a graveyard. I can give you one...I visited an old graveyard many years ago and my then wife and I spent some time at a grave of two sisters who died on the same day and the stone referenced a flood in the area. I mentioned to my wife, jokingly, that if we aren't careful they might hitch a ride in our car with us. Later as we were getting into the car to leave I referenced the girls again and the flood. Just before putting the car in gear after starting it I asked, "Are you coming with us, girls?" At that second the windshield wipers cycled once on their own and stopped. I tried the button and they worked normally, but I never touched it before they worked on their own. We both looked at each other and both said in unison..."flood?" Thanks again for the great answer and shout out. I hope I am one of your top ten best fans and friends!

    Hi there, Considering that Steve and Jim have been together for over 30 years, they must feel pretty good about being opposite, wouldn't you think? Perhaps because I am an old gal now, I know many couples who have been together for decades are in love and do not have much in common or who are almost complete opposites. That's where the "opposites attract" saying comes from. :)

    Julian Price Stiff, was a pretty interesting guy. He was an extra in several westerns. What I found most interesting was the fact he worked with Howard Hughes. Julian was the lumber buyer for the Spruce Goose. He was also part owner of Chi Chi’s, in Palm Springs, which expanded to include a 500 seat venue for Las Vegas type shows. It featured such legends as Frank Sinatra, and Nat King Cole. Crazy random grave, proves you just never know who you’re visiting in a graveyard.

In my recent video about riding in the Tour de Palm Springs, I talked all about the Chi Chi club in Palm Springs and how my grandparents used to go there all the time. I looked for a find a grave memorial page for Julian Stiff but could not find one! How weird is that, that I accidentally found his grave and didn't even know it and that you would send me this comment? That seems like way more than just a coincidence. I will have to create a find a grave memorial for him and go back and do a video about his grave at some point. I'll give you a shout out when I do. Thanks! :-)

    Hi Steve, great stroll. Question: when you are in a Jewish cemetery or Jewish section of a cemetery and find a grave you are looking for, do you ever follow the custom of leaving a pebble or small stone on that grave site?

  • @steveinpalmspringsca

    @steveinpalmspringsca

    Ай бұрын

    Hi MrButch, if it’s a standing head stone I do, but if it’s a flat head stone like these I don’t. The lawnmowers in the cemeteries are huge and they go over all of the graves and if there are stones on them the stones can go flying and could kill somebody. So it’s just too dangerous to do that in these types of cemeteries.

I know a lot of people like livestreams and the interaction, but there’s no guarantee anyone will respond to your comment or question. I generally don’t even watch the “rerun”. Sometimes I will watch a cooking livestream. I often would go to the cemetery where my parents are buried and take my dogs. Often I was the only one there. It’s quite lovely and my dogs loved it. I also had an annual Zoo membership and that’s another good place to walk. I don’t do either now because I have severe arthritis. I don’t remember a rascal named Farina though there was one.
