I think most of the "deals" this year are what the actual R.R.P's were last year
I've come to realise that Black Friday is just a way for retailers to get rid of stock that hasn't sold i.e. all the crap. Especially when it comes to things like TV's/laptops etc. I don't partake in any of it. January sales though can be quite good.
I watch a lot of goods from retailer and you see the prices go up a month before then Black Fri comes along then the prices go back to what they were.
I have to tell you that the ad right after this video was Harbor Freight Black Friday Deals. 😂 Ironic.

EVERY single retailer, regardless of the product, is guilty of this. I've even seen where the price on Black Friday, Boxing Day, whatever, is MORE than the previously advertised price?! You have to be an informed consumer, simple as that.
I sent corally in the eu an email telling them I didn't like there non black friday deals. Bait and switch on there prices. I own a kronos. I told them I will only buy parts for my kronos now. Nothing more. Corally had no deals in the United States. They inflated there prices and used the regular price as a sale price. I'm sure it hurt there return business. If I was the owner, the person who set there black friday deals would of been fired. I bought a fireteam online for $399.99. With tax and 3 to 5 day fed ex shipping I paid $433.00 traxxas can jump in the lake. Losi was a disappointment. I feel your pain

Always feel like UK gets shafted on product prices. US companies seem to not know how currency conversion works and just take the dollar amount and stick a £ in front of it.

US prices are without any taxes applied which have to be applied when purchased so they wil always appear cheaper. From talking to a friend in the US they explained taxes are applied at state and some other (federal?) level depending where you live depends on those taxes applied. What you see listed isn't hte take it home price. UK prices have VAT included. Thats why it seems 1:1 (which is pretty much the exchange rate anyway now, so it would actualy be even more expensive than 1:1 atm).
Prices on RC’s are rediculous period, but I’m addicted lol

Ridiculously over prized indeed. Especially since the one thing that is arguably the most expensive to manufacture about these rigs isn't even included: the bloody batteries. I'd love to know what the actual manufacturing costs of something like, let's say, an XMaxx are. I reckon it couldn't be more than a couple hundred bucks.

I'm fully with you. Here in Germany the situation is the same. It is so stupid and we playing their game. Looking for the Losi King Sling and do you know what ? Horizon Importeur Germany didn't even know about the car. Could order at Amain but shipping 129$ and 215$ tax. As you said, all because of the shitty politics in Europe.
Greed is a global problem. Black Friday here in the US usually means deep discounts on finished goods like toys, tvs, video games, computer parts, etc. Most deals were around 20% this year. If that. They are usually 50 to 70 percent. Corporate greed just can't get enough this time around. They have all made record profits throughout the Pandemic. It's just never enough. Now they can't even throw a bone to the loathly consumer. smh
The limitless body can’t be sold in Europe because of copyright. The holders wouldn’t give the rights for Europe.
Absolutely spot on, so bloody frustrating!!! As a protest I’m not buying any new rc stuff. Obviously that’s 🐂💩
Vs410 pheonix straight axle GB price £540 from modeltune, or £317 if your in the US, import one and you save £100...
My local hobby shop here in Madrid Spain explained why the latest horizon arrma vehicles can't come to Europe area Brexit or not . Apparently the radio transmitters and receivers are not conforming to the laws by a matter of a few hertz or something. So even if they have arrived in containers , they can not be unloaded, delivered and sold...

This is true 😅
The availability of products in the UK (and other countries) is nothing to do with governments and entirely down to the manufacturers protecting their distributors. If you have to buy in the UK then it makes sure the money goes to the UK distributors, if you have to initially buy it from a shop it makes sure the shops get some money from each sale. The manufacturers are supporting everyone involved in selling their products, which also makes sure the manufacturers have more outlets to shift their products. The alternative is that everyone buys from a handful of big shops, all the others close and we make it much harder for any newcomers to get into the hobby. If we all buy form Amain instead of UK shops, eventually we will have no UK shops and you will end up having to order from Amain when you just need a pack of body clips.
in EU there is "deals" on traxxas cars for a while now but the prices dont seem to be low enough to be worth buying
I got my felony for 400ish dollars before holloween
"Sales" where they either were always offered at the price their humping now as a discount. OR they announce a sale price and they show a "regular" price that is now 50-60 dollars higher than it was two days ago and the sale price will actually be ten dollars higher than you could have had it two days ago. Christmas is near and then new year. This post holiday time competitive pricing could be found in the past. Not holding my breath for 23. Actually would not surprise me if you see DISCONTINUED products get price increases because the day after the last one is sold they will be VINTAGE. I really thought people would laugh at me for saying manufacturers and distributors were inflating the prices and charging the same if not a bit higher as the discount. And in closing, intercourse Traxxas.
About time a high caliber RC channel calls out the bull💩! Phil congratulations on being the first to point out this scam of a deal. Great rant we need to see more of this in the hobby rather than getting our bellies tickled.

The fireteam for 399$ is a great deal here in the USA! That is bullshit that you guys can't get that deal!
I get my rc's from the USA, shipped to Canada. Cheaper then buying in Canada. I feel ya man! Crappy deals on cyber Monday too
I got my Fireteam , on Black Friday sale and a discount . Shipped to me from Winnipeg , 2000 KM away . Over the weekend . Ordered Friday . It arrived Monday , Unbelieve vehicle , price , service and shipping . Merry Christmas
The American companies are the same across a few of my hobbies on georestricting shipping. Specialized and Trek don't allow cross-border sales for example. The Black Friday thing is also a complete waste of time over here as it has no meaning hence why it goes on for a month. Oh and the RRP/Sale price thing: UK consumer law states that for a discount to be genuine and legal the item has to be offered for sale for 28 days prior to your reduction at the higher price and that reduction can only be shown for 6 weeks, if the reduced price continues it then becomes the new standard price. This leads to retailers having 1 item for sale for a month at well above RRP (usually in a few stores but not promoted) then they can advertise it at the lower price over key periods. Having spent a few years working in retail in my past I now know to ignore anything saying 'Reduced' or 'Clearance' etc, just look at the price and whether it's worth that to you.
You missed one minor issue for Americans. *RESELLERS* Whenever there is a sale or limited edition collectors item, they're immediately bought out and then listed online at a crazy markup, often double the price or more. A couple lucky people might be able to get ahold of them, the rest of us have to pay double+ or go without. I tend to go without. Lol
I was also disappointed to see my favorite fpv stores offer only 8-10% off,gee thnks alot
Here in belgium we can order a Xrt for 1199€ in a hobby shop in the Netherlands
It's payback for all the cool real cars you get that we don't! Cheers from Detroit!
400 for a Firestorm is a hell of a deal
Here in Jersey, Channel Island's, we don't have any hobby shops! We have too order stuff in, which can be a massive pain in the ****. Best part about it, is we don't pay VAT, But we have too pay a tax on goods over £150.
Tried to buy a Mashigan the day they came out. Won't ship to Canada, and that's just as or more frustrating cause we are literally land connected to the US and are treated like a separate planet. You can put it in a mail truck and drive it across... No boats or planes required. "Free shipping in US" but once it crosses a border it's now $60 shipping magically, so the thanks for buying from us only lasts within a small area, thanks for buying from us, here's some help on shipping disappears if you're 500 metres past a line on a map. AND YET! AliExpress can ship things to me from China in 2-3 weeks no sweat, free or almost no shipping. Waaaahhh!! Why do people buy from China... Well... There's your answer.
I might stop 🛑 you Americans getting some! Like California Gold! #stayepic
Maybe "someone" needs to set up a "Drop shipping" operation to get stuff from America to the uk...... 😉🤔
😂 love a good rant, esp on a monday 👍 black friday sales in my eyes are worthless, just a way of getting rid of all the outdated non selling stock 😁
I feel like this Christmas the "deals" arent really deals stores have raised prices and put a sale sign on it
I live in America. Arizona to be exact. It's 2 hours to the post office. This place is massive. Sorry different rant.
Honestly, as an American, we didn't really get much either. Horizon did put a couple of cars on a decent discount (The Fireteam and Typhon, that's about it), and Traxxas just hiked their prices and then listed their MSRP as their discount which should be downright illegal. Big brands seem to think they have the community by the balls at this point. Sadly, people still buy into it even after that.

The trick is not to look for deals from companies, rather than looking at the selling portals like Amazon and eBay. Agreed. I'm also in the U.S. and this past Black Friday was pretty much trash for a lot of things. Not only do I generally pick up a few hobby items on BF, but I usually do some Christmas shopping for the family. This is the first year I can remember not buying anything on BF as the "deals" weren't deals at all for what I was in the market for.
Most people know what rigs cost. You have it shipped to a friend in the states then they ship it to you.
" World Wide " would have to a the biggest load bullsh!t .
We get better deals on home appliances than RC toys on black Friday deals....
Yep we get shafted again no deals like the guys over the water. A FireTeam would have been nice at the price they got it for
That sucks. I got the Fireteam for $350 off in Canada.
1. beard suits you! 2. Similar situation in Oz. I've been trying to buy the newest FMS, Traxxas and Axial models but still waiting! My orders are in for several new models but it's crickets here in Oz at this point. Wake me up in February when they're finally arsed to deliver here! I could have used mail forwarding services in USA to get them to Aus here but decided not to bother, and focus instead on current projects. It's a first world problem after all :)
Black Friday sucked ass here in the states too. There were deals, sure, but no deals on any shit I wanted or any I thought were worthy of this big hype machine "huge sale" day... that stuff really just made me sad as hell. where was my SCX10.3 RTR deal? Hell no. Sod off, mate. I'm sad. I paid full effin price ON CYBER MONDAY too... what the hell, man? The one thing I wanted and there just wasn't a single deal to be found. :( I went to work that day too... and I work at a pretty busy glass shop (figure it out) and there just was nothing. Streets empty. Stores empty. Inside I was happy capitalism wasn't winning, but also I was a tad worried for economics... and because there's no damn deals on anything I wanted. Why was I even excited? Why be excited for Christmas sales? It's just going to be this again.
Pretty much exactly the same here in Australia thanks for ranting for me as well haha
I hear your pain... It's the same in Australia, it was quicker and cheeper for me to get the TRX 4 sport in tan shipped to my US mailbox and sent to me before LHS had it in stock. PS horizon won't ship nor take an Australian credit card payment...
As a person who works for Horizon Hobby, we lost our international shipping at the beginning of covid. And our international stuff was under question with Brexit i believe. We just haven't been able recover our international shipping as we had hoped
Traxxas didn't have black Friday deals at all
Think of this as payback for all the badass cars y'all got that we didn't. I'm looking at you Cosworth.
Honestly Horizon have been a pretty big factor in why I'm getting out of RC as for the most part the majority of rc products are I get or rather got were under them and it's becoming quite clear they really couldn't care less about their UK customers. While I'm not a big Traxxas fan I'm honestly convinced Horizon are worse at the moment. Oh and some of the "Black Friday" we get for RC is a joke "cough" Modelsport "cough"
Same over here 🤨😑👌👍👋,do we need to say more ???yes always
🤣😂 you tell um Phil 👍 we want better deals 😊🙋♂️

Show us the bad Black Friday deal!
Fully agree with you there on that one about the prices, Well known place i order from had items in the black Friday sale and i noticed the price was the same as what it's always been, Just feels like we are being ripped off.
Ftx for example can't ship to Germany. I can't get the right spareparts. Even talked to a dealer here and they agreed ftx is a problem now. I mean ftx blames German customs and I got a refund... But yea can't get parts and Hobbyking "applause" didn't have them for years and maybe never will. Now I think of 3d printing a spurgear but I didn't think this will last nearly as long as my first plastic one. And a new slipperclutch I can't print. Traxxas is BS anyways. Parts are expensive and hard to get even in the US
The TRX4M release was just plain stupid. I live in the US and can't get one , where I live only 1 Traxxas dealer and they didn't even get their pre orders. As for sales nothing here that isn't normal price or lower only because it's a discontinued model.
