Good for OP for getting a divorce. His wife obviously never loved him, but, more importantly, obviously had no respect for him either. His only mistake was to even consider staying with her under any circumstances. He should have indeed moved on...to filing for divorce.

This, 100% this. She knows she is completely and utterly wrong and she knows that the counselor would tell her that. She just doesn't want to hear it, because she is incapable of accepting fault, incapable of admitting that she is wrong, and unwilling to change. She's trash.

Change the name. The son is young, he will get over it. She is wrong on all levels. Very wicked thing to do.

The kid is 5 years old, and changing their name at this point is nothing. Lol, idk wtf is the "identity" thing there. We have changed the names of 10-year-old kids here for less. (like based upon astrology lol). I am glad he got divorced. When the wife says she "loved her Ex but not in the way she loved her husband," She was actually saying - "I just settled for you and never truly loved you," & that she loved the security and stability of a marriage but not her husband.

The nerve of that woman even saying she still loves her ex just in a different way and naming her child after him. I would not stick around , glad he figured that out himself as well.

Divorce is an oddly satisfying outcome. The problem with the name is that it shows your wife's lack of consideration for you. If she's not your wife anymore, its not a problem anymore.

When a woman tells you anything along the lines of "just get over it", she doesn't respect you and only way to deal with that is to get rid of her. Also wouldn't be surprised if she has messed up her ability to bond with a man really, if she has had a wild past. Having to think of another man that your wife openly admits to still loving, every time you say your son’s name. Even worse than that though, is knowing that a child you thought you created with your soulmate with all the love you could muster and she names it after her deadbeat abusive cheating ex boyfriend. And who even knows if that’s true, for all we know the ex boyfriend could have been a swell dude. You can’t trust a word that woman says after something that heinous.

Speaking as a woman…with the way some women are these days…that is not only fair but understandable too.

I would change my son's name.

The most offensive thing to me in this story is when he asked how she would like it if he named their daughter after his first girlfriend and her attitude was basically, “It’s different because I can disassociate myself from the name of my first boyfriend. But you’re too immature to do that. So it would only be disrespectful if you did it, but not if I do it.”
