I worked for a rental car agency and one of our new cars...literally out for its first rental had an engine failure and had to be towed back to the rental agency.

I bought an '11 Chev Traverse with 126k on the clock. BUT!!! I spent the time to crawl over and under it, checking everything I could. It had the timing chain tensioners done already. Car was clean, straight, drove and stopped well. After about 6 months, steering rack started to leak. Pulled it and had it rebuilt, put it back in and was good to go. My point is, I knew I was buying used so I knew I was taking a chance. But this car was LOVED by the previous owner and it showed!! THAT is what I look for in a car, did the other guy love this car?? That tells me a bunch about how it was cared for. I still have it, had to do a few other things to it but what a strong, nice driving vehicle!! Got almost 149k on it now, needs nothing. Point is, ALWAYS look for the love!!

Had some minor issues like you have had, I hated letting people down, I would tell people its a piece on machinery put together with parts from hundreds of suppliers, and its driven up and down the road, things are going to wear out. After a few years I started buying off lease trucks and SUV's with factory bumper to bumper warranties. Life was so much better after that, if there was ever a problem (very rare) the customer just took it into the dealer for the warranty work. life was great!!

That’s why I prefer new over used. I totally know that you’re a honest person and want to make people happy with a used car sale. Even though you have done your best to make everything work on the vehicles. But buying a used vehicle is just that. It’s used and something can and quite possibly will go wrong. I wanted to buy a vehicle from you but I prefer new cars. Plus you didn’t have what I was looking for. Heck, the Cadillac dealerships didn’t have any in stock. So I bought the only used one they had. Month later, I’m in/out of the service center for weeks getting an engine light fixed and still getting a shuttering fixed in the transmission. Am I mad at the dealership…no. I bought it fuller knowing that something might come up. They are doing their best to fix the problem. You just keep doing what you are doing. You’re a good person and we need more people like you.

The A/C compressor sounded like it would explode at any moment... And again, dealer said it was normal. I did not have a good experience with GM & needless to say, I traded it for another Ford. Someone who has just bought a car will never believe it but sometimes used cars just mess up the first time right after the sell. I sold a buick one time. I had been usi g it as a peraonal car and put around 10k miles on it in the 6-9 months before i sold it. In fact, the guy was waiting for me at the lot to look at a different car when I drove up in it. It never had any mechanical issues in the time i drove it. However, the transmission went out a week after he bought it. I made it right but people are going to believe you knew it was bad when you sold it more often than not even though you had no idea.

Where I live the police in cooperation with the highway traffic safety board do road side spot checks for road worthiness. I can honestly say that Eqinox would be taken off the road if it was stopped at a spot check. You would be given an order to repair it within a specified time and it would have to be inspected to be insured again. My friend had a chevy truck with a very small amount of rust on the cab corner and he got a must repair notice. It's different regulations in different locations. I would never take another car like that on trade.

So my dad and I went to a Toyota dealership and we got a pre-owned certified 2017 Toyota Yaris IA. My dad wouldn’t get no vehicle unless it was under warranty. Also I got the vehicle at 35 thousand miles, 20 thousand miles later my car needed a new transmission. Thankfully we had the warranty because they replaced it and all I had to pay was $100 deductible.

As for body issues like rust I don't know what more Chevy Dude could have done. Not selling anything like that in the future would be wise. It tarnishes your reputation.

I would never buy a Chevy Equinox. Yes, I like the vehicle. I used to work at Disneyworld and Chevrolet is a sponsor. All our fleet vehicles were Chevrolet. Every year , the engines had to be replaced because we drove a lot. When travel, I prefer to drive cross country. I can't afford a new engine every year. I prefer the older trucks. Both Ford & Chevrolet. Back when vehicles were made to last, and one just replaced a part and the vehicle was good to go. 😊 😮

There was a massive recall on the 2012 models (I had that year) and maybe more, to fix a knowing issues with the possible of rust on the doors due to poor welds. I had mine fixed and no issues, my guess was the owners of the one you took on trade never had the recall work performed.

2020 & up Equinox's are in Mexico now & there even worse as poor quality control issues there. GM is in trouble now again & not looking good. UAW strike still going on with GM in US & Canada as plants still closed. Most of those SPAM calls are coming from India, Africa & Philippines -Cheers!

Why would you sell a rusted out car and for 4000 wow did you fake safety it

Bro your seasoned salesman. come on. Sales order car sold as is buyer hold seller harmeless for any mechanical, cosmetic or any issues as is. sign it. both. They complain show them what they signed. If you buy this car and it breaks in half you own both haves. Stop your bleeding. Get hard but fair. If you have the profit to make a small repair after the sale dont do it you just legally broe the as is agreement. Offer a service contract they turn it down tough. Just fair. if you want exchange the car they bought for another ok optons Seperate buying or a trade have your mechanic chack it out trans drive it.

All I can say is stay up market b/c if you move your business to the sub prime you'll get nonstop whining from helpless people that don't think they should make payments the first time its required that they open their wallet. That or they demand free service work for the life of the loan on the car. All my joy has been stolen from me. It's truly misery.

You are an honest person. Don't let these few people ruin your day. If I were going to buy a used car I would drive from Illinois to buy from you. You are one of the few honest car salesman around.

Because getting a new car franchise is very expensive; manufacturers set the requirements high, including capital (money), equipment, service/parts, etc. Mike needs to show a successful track record to GM to ever hope to get a dealership.
