I Had To Abandon My Son In The Middle Of The Alaskan Wilderness | Fight To Survive | Retold

Father-son adventurers trek deep into the adventurous Alaska wilds following the rugged trail of the white-coated Dall sheep. Before the hunt is over one man witnesses his son windmilling helplessly through the air from a cliff. That man will learn the outer limits of strength, endurance and commitment.
Fight to Survive tells the inspiring true stories of outdoorsmen who have faced down death in the wilderness and lived to tell their story. Adventurer, author and survivor Craig DeMartino kicks off the series with his own story.

I so feel this one, Dad. And I'm thankful all is well with your boy. And that our ordeal was closer to home ground and help. I had to hike up and drive out to meet Search & Rescue and the Sheriff to get them back to our location when my 11 year old was hiking with his brother and cousin, and was pitched off a 35 foot cliff when the ground shifted. All the boys were within arms reach of each other, back from the edge admiring the river view, and only one went over the edge (thank God). The boys dug him out of the rocks, and we had to bring him 3/4 of a mile uphill to transport him, as the cliff face was too unstable for the percussion of a helicopter extraction. And the drop off to the bottom and possible RR track access was all double dog dare you incline. After he was stabilized and being prepped to move, I had to take off 45 mins ahead of the carriers and emt team, to be able to be in the ambulance when they left. They don't wait. I'd been down to, up from, and down to him again already. The last 'up' was brutal on a skinny arse, autoimmune Mom. Whew. I hugged bushes, I crawled, I butt scooted up, I was so glad no one could see much of that seemingly pitiful uphill effort when my boy was going through so much, but I finally made it. Blessed minutes ahead of them. Long, long, stressful day on a Mom, too. *I don't remember reading any of this kinda stuff on the Mom/Dad sign up sheet..L♡L.

i agree on the hunting, it seems morally wrong to go around shooting helpless rams, and I really wish people would stop doing it. as far as the terrain, they didn't have any ropes or harness or nothing, why climb onto a cliff ledge if your not even roped in? I do in turn feel bad for the kid tho, and he probably did learn from it and doesn't do that shit anymore.
