Two things: 1. The logical fallacy we employ in how we give rejection vs receive rejection - indeed there is an asymmetry in how we reject people and things vs how we perceive ourselves when being rejected. We, usually, do not mean a total rejection of somebody -- who they are, what they represent, and what they believe in -- when we reject somebody for a date or something else. Yet, when we get rejected, we treat it as a total rejection of everything we stand for and believe in. A rejection of who we are as a person, as a human being, and when you perceive rejection that way, it feels soul crushing. I guess it is easy to fall into this trap when you really want something for yourself, and you play it in your mind how great it would to have that thing, despite whether or not it is truly actually good for you. You made a very good point about all of this. That's a logical fallacy, but sometimes I've seen myself do precisely this. This illusion of rejection, and even acceptance, keeps many people in fear. 2. In a culture that values success, at a superficial level, meaning one that is only concerned with whether or not you got the "desirable result", and not necessarily how you grew or what you learned, there is sometimes a pressure to seem like you always have it altogether -- to act as if you're perfect or that everything is going perfectly. It takes a level of courage, or just simply being comfortable with yourself, to just lay it all out there (to strangers) that you're a human being that gets rejected from many things too -- that it's okay, and part of the human existence. I appreciate whatever it is that allows you to be so sincere and transparent. Another great video, and lol sorry about the lengthy comment! Have a good one, Nikhil!
