DEALING WITH REJECTION (from dream job opportunity)
We're all familiar with the classic job rejection email. It's bound to happen to all of us. But how you respond after the rejection can change everything. Losing isn't the end.

Love how you took something "bad" and turned it into something good.
I got rejected from my dream job like 8 years ago. I am in LOVE with cars and the position was Marketing Manager of BMW. It was just me and another guy and they chose him. I was devastated for a month, cause they didn't even have the courtesy to call me or email me with the rejection. Little did I know, this was a blessing in disguise. The other guy left the company in like 3 months cause the company was not treating him well and I was already on my way of a much much better job and I am so much happier to where that job got me at that time. Every bad thing is actually a good thing in a poor man's clothes. Never look back, great things are happening.

I always get rejection by jobs. I’m 25 and only have 3 years of work experience. It makes me want to end my life because I don’t think I have a purpose…I barely am given a chance.
Rejection OWNED!! Reaching out to Tyler is the last thing Adobe or anyone would have expected...and is exactly the type of out-of-box thinking of a true creative! Wait! There's a box??

Right! Such a mature way of reacting to it.
You just summed up a lifetime of wisdom in 5 minutes. Ive had rejections and roadblocks that I thought I could never recover from but Im still here and Im happy about all I have learned from the good and the bad. I absolutely love the way you've handled this. From the videos of yours that Ive seen, you've proven that you follow your own path, you always push forward and you're no quitter. NEVER lose that attitude.
Everyone should have this outlook when facing a loss like this, glad you kept your head up high cause you gained so much more out of it than just sulking!
I’ll be honest, I’m a fan of both you and Tyler so I would have loved ANYTHING that combined you two, but this... next level! I loved the colors, the visuals, the vlog feel but what I really dug was the message. As someone who has never been very good at accepting failure (in fact, often times I don’t even put myself out there or start a project because I’m so terrified of failing), this video is a great reminder that it’s okay to fail as long as you learn from it, and move forward in spite of it! Thanks for this one!!!
I just love how you both spoke about the community effect and how we all benefit when each of us succeeds. Success of others creates opportunities for you too, so we should all lift each other up! 😍 rejection is just another opportunity to remember and practice that. Thank you.
Not how I expected this video to go (in a good way!). This had such a powerful message, it’s SO easy to get caught up in competition on KZread. This is easily my favorite video of yours.
Wow, I am blown away at the video quality..but more than that, I’m so moved by your perspective on rejection. Takes a lot of humility and security to view rejection as an opportunity. Thanks man!
That was a 10/10 class act. I can't stop saying "keep up the amazing work" becuase you do something more than amazing each time you post something. Definitley changing the game man. Much love.
Your wisdom speaks wonders. I love how you decided to reach out and see the good in your loss. Your work is amazing and inspires me so much.
Dude! My two favorite creators making a video. This is exactly what I needed today!!!!!
So true and so good! Spending the time creating that pitch is invaluable! Stoked you were able to make it work! And props to reaching out to Babin! Love and respect that!
Kudos to you for reaching out to TB and to them for being open to meeting. I've only watched a few of your videos and you have a good head on your shoulders. Much success.
You reached out to him! I didn’t quite expect the story to go down that way but that to me is very impressive! Glad you got to meet, connect, and collaborate with each other. Always love your attitude with what life throws at yah, Jake!
Amazing work again man. Inspired by the quality your putting out and the intention behind your short films. Excited to see whatcha make this year
I pray that my 6 old grows up with them values you just showed. Good on you young man I hope you reach all your dreams!!!
Very inspiring to not give up when faced with rejection and do what you did. Always have to keep your head high and keep going 🙌🏼
Such a good message and take away from one of the hardest parts of being in the creative industry. Congrats on taking your project to Race Face and making your own opportunities when one seemingly closed. Always impressed with your work, Jake.
Love this 🙌 If you learn from defeat, you never really lost.
Awesome video dude! I just moved to Colorado and getting that rejection email can be tough, but getting your foot in the door is the bigger thing! Glad to see you are still putting out awesome content, keep it up!
I was just rejected yesterday by a company I've been eyeing for years. The position was a cloud support position with many opportunities for upward mobility. I went on a final interview and they seemed to like me. A week later, I got a rejection notice. That hurt so bad because I can't take care of my elderly mother on my current salary and there is no room for upward growth in my current position.
Found you via Babin's podcast, really enjoyed listening to it and wanted to watch this. Your personal story rings so many bells, "you need to do xyz to grow up, it's how life goes" and yeah I'm in a job I hate and divorced but I find things like this motivational and as you'd said about take all the little steps, hell yeah, motivated!
I've been with you since you had 8k subscribers and the thing I like the most is your consistency. Like always, love the video.

Just as much opportunity in losing as there is in winning. That's fantastic.

To be completely honest, you deserved it. Tyler is an amazing creative but he really didn’t use the opportunity to the fullest. I support him also and was disappointed that many months he never even uploaded and lots of false promises. I can only imagine what you would of created with this opportunity considering you crushed 2019 even without it. Keep up the great work!

Two month later I got a job as a stringer following around a no one .. on the campaign trail.. that no one became president. To bad in life we don't get to see the entire picture.. Your work keeps getting stronger. My 2 cents. Focus your talent on the super car market. They need what you have to offer.

10 years ago I applied to be cabin crew for Singapore Airlines, I tried 5 times and I got rejected every single time. I thought I was useless and a loser. Come 2020, most airlines have cut their flights and I've friends who work for Singapore Airlines who only fly once a month or so. Sometimes in life, you just have to accept what life throws and at you and one day you'll understand why.
Great message, great video!!! Keep up the work man! Watching you videos inspire me when I am working on mine. Still shooting all of my stuff on a GoPro and my cell phone. I would love to see how you color grade things that is something I have started to learn how to do so I can improve how my GoPro footage looks.

I'm really feeling down right now because I got rejected for a job I like AGAIN but Jake's optimism helped me get out of my slump a little
Babin is super creative no doubt but he didn’t beat you, his experience and his background did. You both create “story” and that’s golden...Frew you’ll get it, if you want it, eventually...
Jake... You get it. Yes, rejection is tough, and you're making the best of it. Keep growing your dreams. I've said this before, and it's more true now than ever... you've got what it takes, and before you know it, the doors will open and you will far exceed your expectations. You're in the big league now. Fly!
this video ruled man. such a sick mindset.
An hour ago, The same shit happened with me right now and I came here to see if the same has happened to anyone else. It was my dream Job, the salary was beyond my expectations but today I got an email from them that Your profile has been rejected. I felt like my dream castle had been destroyed.
