I've tried explaining to my parents in so many ways that getting a job in this new information era is so different from what they experience. It makes me happy to hear from other people talking about this kind of stuff since I'm feeling down... thank you

I applied over 50 programming jobs and none of them came back. I even apply internship and none came back and I even talk to the recruiter during my college career fair and suppose to email me back before "May" and never got back. Seriously employer need to stop wasting time on applicants if they are not likely choose the person, if I am not gonna be one of the applicant then don't waste my time interviewing

The last point definitely helped. I’ve been struggling to find work ever since I graduated college a year ago. I’ve had several interviews, and learned that just because the job sounds good on paper, doesn’t mean I would enjoy doing it after the interview. Sometimes I feel like I’m applying for too many positions, which is why that point you made about going through burn out hit home.

Simple answer is basic economics, "supply chain is extensive" the demand is not. When the boomers die more jobs will open up etc. For now only the "best" or best connected get through. Notice how i didn't say "best qualified"... meritocracy is a myth as things stand. It's about soft skills and connections. Most people aiming for certain jobs are qualified. It's understanding their unique culture and what the particular centres seek. I finally got a job offer 4 months after my phd thesis hand in. This is after being rejected even before an interview for like 400 jobs and passing 2/5 interviews.

Here in Columbia SC I have my Masters Degree but still can’t find work in counseling or human services. I interviewed at DSS did the finger print background check we spoke about the salary and I just never heard from them. I am becoming frustrated and starting to feel like my college education was a scam. Maybe I should just become a retail manager

    1. Not getting seen by HR by big companies. Companies are also lazy they don't have the time to find the perfect candidates so it's twice as likely to get jobs by internal referrals 70 percent of jobs are not even posted online 2. Smaller jobs - resume is on point if an actual person will see it, linkdIn social media privacy settings 3. Applying to too many jobs. You only have so much energy, not helpful. Focusing on wrong things. It will backfire it'll start getting boring.

I needed this video! I am a law and LLM graduaute, and I am struggling to land a job. I have applied to countless firms, yet zero success. I am starting to doubt myself; am I good enough, and what is wrong with me. I started a small business during my search that is doing well, but this seems to be off-putting to recruiters. I was told after interviews that I was not select because of my business (they're worried that it'll occupy too much of my time). I am starting to feel hopeless, so this video was helpful.

"Companies don't want the perfect candidate but just a good enough candidate to do the job" Any hiring manager who does this will only be shooting themselves in the foot! I can guarantee you that! I don't know where you are getting these points from because that is completely untrue for competent managers!!

I applied to more than 8 thousand jobs I want to leave the US since both remote and location telling me srew you or ghosting and 9 times out of 10 they never pick anyone but re post it, again 3 years wasted coming out of college as graphic designer, yes oh why wasn't I a god ( nurse, cfo) am in my last stand and almost 30, it feels like I live in the Weimar Republic. again I tired I really try yes competition which yea that reason killed 4 of my friends this was in the span of 2021 to this year, am in my last leg and I know even if I had so many bells and whistles in degrees at that point I be screen out of due to my age, I know a guy 40 has a computer science BA but spend so much getting that job that his age made him where he was so unemployable that hes now homeless and is snuffing from depression thanks to this wonderful hiring progress

I feel like, I am getting rejected because of my grades. In my country companies are obsessed with excellent grades. My current college grades are somewhere at college C compared to US. I have tones of practical experiences. Former employer references are all very good and call me an excellent working student. Still I applied to 30 jobs since November 2020. And I only get rejections. Only got 1 interview where I passed the first and 2nd (technical interview). And I still got rejected. It's maximum frustrating.

I graduated with a 3.70 GPA and have been applying to jobs for 2 and a half years after graduation. Companies don't give a rat's ass about your grades. They just care that you passed your classes and graduated.

@@heyarnold2006 one reason u might get rejected even with high grades and lots of experience and an excellent CV is that the position that is above u is afraid u will replace him/her and so they would try to get u rejected so there is no possibility for them to be replaced until they get the retirement.

Well yes they want the optimal worker. Extensive studies have been performed to help corporations select the best worker. This doesn't of course equate to higher pay it actually equates to lower pay. See the optimal worker does the entry level position the best so that he will remain there while those who aren't optimal workers but have better networking and communication skills for management will move up the ladder.

I had a job interview not too long ago, that not only did I think I was an ideal fit for, and that I had the experience, the qualities and the skills to do the damn thing, but the overall vibe of the company, I felt excited by the prospect or working for. I went to the team interview, I answered certain questions, that some people didn't even have an answer for; ultimately, I felt positive of the result of my application and interview. I recently received the result that I didn't get it, because, according to them, I did not have such skills, experience or qualities in this role, bearing in mind that I had 5 years experience in retail, and an additional 5 in customer facing roles. So I can only come to the conclusion that I didn't qualify for the role for different reasons....

That might be true for the very big companies, I am talking about the trillion dollar companies like Google or amazon etc. The rest of the companies prefer internal applicant than online applicants sadly and this is extremely big in the middle East, if u want to get a job in a good company in the middle East as a national u need to know someone who can send Ur paperwork internally otherwise u will be spending months if not years to get the job u want, it's a sad reality but reality non the less
