This model is insane, and a slot for the camera card, right next to an actual HDMI port. I'm not going to do anything else on this except working in front of a class, so it will do for years.

Literally me too, I am getting the exact same model. Had a chromebook for a while, it's not bad it's pretty good but it really can't do the things that macbooks and windows can do.

I just picked one up myself. You did good. The 2015 also has better keyboard than the 2016 thru 2019 models. Love mine.

I own one from 2015 as well, 7 years and it still works great but you might want to upgrade the SSD for that to allow it to perform at it’s best in 2022 :)

This laptop is, to many, the best mac apple has ever made. Which is why i bought myself one as well 8 months ago. Great machine

In 2024, these 2015 MacBook Pros (13 and 15) are actually going up in price with 3rd party vendors! Of course it depends on cosmetic quality. But a very good or excellent one with 16GB ram and 256GB SSD is in the $500 range. So don't expect to get one for $300 or less, unless you're okay with rough, scratched and dented quality. I've also seen 3rd party vendors max them out with up to 4TB SSD for $1,000 bucks. That's an amazing deal if you need massive storage, and don't want to carry around an external storage drive. If you want portability, that's the way to go. If it's going to sit on a desk most of the time, then you may be better off with 256GB on board and a large external drive connected. Lots of legacy ports. USB-A to connect all the stuff you already own (printer, thumb drives, wired mouse you still love, etc.). For a few bucks, you can get an adapter to turn one port into USB-C. For most people who are not video editors, this will work just fine in 2024 and beyond. And yes, RETINA display! The silicon Macs are faster. (Do I really need to say this?) But what is your budget and usage need? $500 for a very clean and usable MacBook. That's a hell of a deal. Most people don't have $2,000 to $4,000+ to spend on a computer. Nor do they need it for streaming video services, writing Word documents, browsing on Amazon. This machine does all these tasks quickly!! It can also connect to THREE external monitors, if you really need the real estate. Two Thunderbolt Display ports and one HDMI port built in! No glitchy external hub, adapter or 0:02 dongle needed!! If you're a gamer, why are you here? Get a dedicated game console (Play Station). This is why the 2015 MacBook Pro 15 is still everything most people need. Just spend a bit more and get a clean one.

I got one of these too a few months ago and mine was incredibly affordable and looks brand new! But today I realized that the oldest supported MacBook Pro for Ventura is 2017! No wonder it was such a low-cost deal!

Still have mine running Monterey...Use it for Music production & Live performance...just put in a 1 tb ssd & change the battery that u can get easily on the internet & u good to go...best MBP ever!!!

still have mine from 2015. Has gone through 2 years of work, and 2 years with the wife and another 3 years of very light use. love the screen, keyboard, trackpad and ports. I now use this as a light browsing/dev training laptop and have made a few upgrades- replaced battery, thermal paste. Leave it on Catalina and you should be fine for 10 more years, maybe longer.

I have one, too, purchased refurbished in 2022. I wonder where the notion that "new equals better" came from? It is not even rational. I hope you're still enjoying this excellent device.

Can you imagine if they actually kept up with that year where thunderbolt 3 released and did the ideal and upgraded the thunderbolt 2 ports for 2015 to thunderbolt 3 would’ve been damn near perfect but without USB c I guess we just make do

i am the same i use to always have android then when the iphone 13 pro max come out i got that then i was hooked to the apple eco system and now i own a mac book, apple watch, apple tv and a ipad but i love it but go on your Mac click the apple top left then go to about this mac then click system report and go to where it says power on the left then look for Cycle Count the lower the number the better apple recommend a battery change once that his 1000 this is a cycle of how many times the battery has charged from 0-100% or 50-100% on my 2015 mac book pro its at 155 so it is very low for something that is 6.5yr old

My MacBook Pro 2015 works for more than 9hours and I’m not even joking

I got myself one as well. The only concern I have is that after I turn op the laptop and put my password, when it starts that loading bar to fill, it flickers the black screen 1 or 2 times. When is in desktop it doesn't have any issues. Is that a normal thing or is just mine?

It could be a handful of issues but the two it could be that I know of off hand is bad connection to logic board or onboard graphics card is dying.

The best Apple laptop ever, still in 2022. You did pay a bit too much. These can be had for 300 bucks max in awesome condition with less than 500 battery cycles.

@@chimkasii Cleanest design, best trackpad, not the oversized new one, better ports (USB A, magsafe, HDMI, thunderbolt), it runs Windows too if you like, you can run many versions of OSX: 10.10,10.11,10.12,10.13,10.14,10.15,11,12. No notch, no touch bar. As for battery performance: how many cycles has your battery? Check it under about this mac, and then system info. What OS do you run? I think this one performs best on Mojave (fast and easy on the battery).

@@lovemadeinjapan i'm using MacOS Monterey v12.4. My battery cycle counts is 211 so i guess its not so bad?. I agree with it being great because of the ports, can't believe a lot of the newer macbooks barely have any [useful] ports. I see what they're trying to do with migrating to the USB-C but its not widely used enough and its honestly just annoying. Not sure how i can change the OS from Monterey to Mojave but i'll look into it.

@@chimkasii That is great. I think Monterey messes up. Or your brightness is sky high. With 211 cycles you can do 10 hours of browsing on Mojave.

Best laptop Apple ever made. Still have this. I think u paid too much for it. Goes for around £300 on eBay. Mine was second hand with 210 cycles. This laptop has everything. Ports. Portable. Superb screen. Stylish. Ssd upgradeable. I have put a new 1tb ssd in. Battery lasts for about 6 hrs. Keep it on Catalina.

This is the best Intel based Macbook ever made. Fantastic screen and user replaceable parts. Its durable and supports up to Monterrey. Don't worry folks a hack may come for Ventura. That said don't pay more then $400 for these units. Not when you can buy a superior M1 used for $600 If limited battery life is a problem replace the battery. However you still won't get what the M1 gets. Those who tire of MacOS can use Linux on these laptops.

The only legitimate reasons a person would say Windows laptops r better is if you're an engineer (most softwares r only on windows) or a gamer. These days we've got entry windows laptops that are way more expensive than entry Mac's.

No it is not, the 13 inch is better. It has a more modern processor, a 14nm one, not the heat generating one of the 15, with its prone-to-die-on-you GPU. A 13 inch does 10 hours on a battery even after 7 years. With the 15 inch, think more like 5 hours max. Also the fan is really quiet on the 13, the 15 inch takes off on every difficult task.
