***********ROCKY CREEK HOMESTEAD****************
After battling Psoriasis for years, I discovered the power of quality food and its positive impact on my skin condition. This sparked my desire to raise my own quality food. So come along with our Family as we transition from urban living to small self sustaining family farm. Learn from both our successes and failures in hopes it may inspire others to try new things. We entered into this journey with no prior experience and hope to provide many laughs and learning experiences. We learned most of how to do what were doing from watching others and hope to be able to provide a similar learning opportunity to anyone else who may benefit from this. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey and we hope it is enjoyable for you and your family.

She’s done well. Plays with her a lot and gives her lots of time out and about. Still learning that there’s more to taking care of it other than playing. Life lessons of responsibility

aww what a sweet little kitten! I hope she and Maddison become the best of friends. I have 2 male cats that I got as kittens about 10 years ago. They are my best buds

She’s been spending every minute with it. She’s taken it all over the property. I had to keep telling her to let it sleep some 😆. Hopefully things will work out and she becomes a good friendly homestead cat

Stan, you're definitely on the right track, but there are a few things to note for establishing a successful outdoor barn cat. Here are a few tips based on research and animal behavior: Kittens this small need a chicken heat lamp at least at night. I would suggest securing a kitten in your garage/barn in this setup. This will also keep them from being harmed by racoons, who can easily reach into this cage. - No milk replacer at this age. He has teeth, softened kitten food (kibble with water) should be fine. - pairs are far more successful than lone kittens. They look out for each other, and their bond helps them remain at the home base. - provide climbing/a shelf in this cage. It will help teach kitten to think in dimensional space so that if something is trying to get it, it will remember it can climb a tree to escape instead of running all the way home. Lastly, vaccines are important if you want this kitten to survive. I would do the first 3 sets of shots. That way, kitten keeps healthy and doesn't risk your kids' health with anything they might pick up. Good luck on the kitten journey!

Wow, didn't even think about the possibility of racoon assault, but it make perfect sense.

Stan, you may not be a cat person but obviously you're a great dad. Miss Madison will enjoy her and I'm sure you and Mrs. RC will appreciate Callie's ability to be a critter hunter around the homestead. There are definitely times I wish we had an outdoor cat for the same reasons but I haven't been able to win that battle. Keep up all the great work, buddy, and I look forward to seeing future updates on the garden. As always, stay safe.

Thanks! She’s a cute kitten and thus far it’s gone well. Madison has been taking that kitten everywhere on the property. Hopefully it turns out to be a good choice and she stays healthy.

I’m definitely more of a dog person, but some cats can be sweet. Hopefully this will work out and I won’t regret it. So far she’s pretty stinking cute

I now have 2 indoor cats. One I got from down the street. She was tiny like Callie. I just adopted an 8 month old cat from the shelter. She is deaf. They are tolerating each other. I hope they will become playmates. I would love a barn cat but my neighbors dogs are mean and would kill it when it crossed the fence. I don’t know any way to keep it in a hog panel fenced property.

That could prove to be difficult. Hope the 2 become buddies. This has been an interesting experience. Overall it’s been okay but the real test will be once we allow her to roam freely.
