I love my 2010 X5M, stage 3 tune e30 mix with around 700hp, XHP stage 3 transmission tune, akrapovic exhaust, puts this around 3.4 second 0 to 60. Only things I had to replace was coolant hoses, PCV hoses. Oil changes with 5W40 Liqui Moly every 3000 miles. Never had any major issues with mine at 163k on the odometer. I sold my Porsche Cayenne Turbo and bought the X5M since I mainly drive and own several BMWs and it's what I know best.

@michaelherrera3088
Жыл бұрын
@@gidd best advice I can give you is do your research on this entirely. Look into one with alot of good service records. Low oil change intervals. Who the previous owners were. If they took care of it or if it was a guy who didn't maintain it properly. It originally was around 100k MSRP. So parts will still cost that and labor for that kind of car. I had my coolant hoses rupture due to being to cold and then heating up quickly. That alone was around 4k to fix all of those including labor. It will be reliable if you take care of it and baby it. It's like having a hooker with a coke problem. Gas doesn't last.

But another reason I like Hoovie is because he has access to reputable mechanics who can actually FIX these disasters and almost always he does finish them and either keeps them for a while or sells them. I liked (and still do) like the X6M outer styling... It's the underpinnings that BMW got totally wrong. Like most of the car manufactures in this league (when new), they throw everything at / in the car, the owners get gooey over them initially, then after a few thousand miles understand where they went wrong as a purchaser and lost money in their investment! Interesting to see if Hoovie can make this a workable car again?

@@gidd best advice I can give you is do your research on this entirely. Look into one with alot of good service records. Low oil change intervals. Who the previous owners were. If they took care of it or if it was a guy who didn't maintain it properly. It originally was around 100k MSRP. So parts will still cost that and labor for that kind of car. I had my coolant hoses rupture due to being to cold and then heating up quickly. That alone was around 4k to fix all of those including labor. It will be reliable if you take care of it and baby it. Thanks Tyler for making this video. Why you probably ask. I had one x6m like that, only in white. But the white colour didn't make it a better car. It spent more time with the dealer than with me. The engine blew just after the warranty was out. Error messages popping up daily. Luckily we had two reliable Cayenne's so we didn't miss it too much. All thus shit had faded from my mind and I was thinking buying another x6m, that was until I watched this video. Tyler you saved me from a lot of grief. I will rather keep my two reliable vehicles, my Range Rover and my Alda Roneo than deal with a BMW again. 😂

Probably mentioned by someone else in the comments but the hatch should open much higher. Check the tailgate setting in the iDrive Settings. I actually had one of these a few years ago in the 3.0D and it wasn’t a bad car. Drive nicely and still looked quite new on the road. The whole car is plastic though which isn’t ideal! Can’t believe people paid over $100k for these when new in Australia 😅

I seriously wonder how you can wreck a car like this within 10 years and 71000 miles. I mean, it's not a cheap car just for the purpose, it was the top of the line X6 in its day!

Hi! I have a problem with my BMW X6M 2010 4.4 555 hp 175.000 km. The car is misfiring. At first it was on cylinder 1. I put new spark plugs and coils. When I clear the fault the car runs good but after 5 min the check engine is back. And the misfire changes every time. For ex now it is on cylinder 1, I delete it and after is on cylinder 5. It changes between cylinder 1,5,6 and 7. What could it be?
I remember searching my local BMW dealer’s lot when these were new and sorting by ascending MSRP. These hideous things were always sitting (and staying) right at the top of the list!

The hatch opens up further. I love my X4M40i. I dno longer have little tax credits so that room isn't needed. It's also really easy to grab a 'worst case' used car and disparage an entire model for it....
Tbh as a German I can confirm that BMWs are actually reliable and great vehicles. Sure there are some engines that are not performing well but however…I would consider the X6 with a Diesel as solid. Please keep in mind how easy it is to maintain those E-Series cars. Most parts are used on 6er, 5er or even 7er cars and most parts and repairs are the same. You can even look them up on the net.
You can adjust how high up the hatch goes when it's open in the onboard Infotainment. It's set pretty low in your video. Used to own an X6 50i. Got a bunch of videos on it on my channel. This example was INTENSELY neglected. That or, the odometer was digitally rolled back at some point. I had 65K miles on my X6 when I sold it and it was cherry.

Always looked good to me. Thid video proved its a timeless classic.

Just sold mine, only had 20k miles to it, was basically new. Tbh wasn’t as bad as you put it though...I love the Acrapovic Exhaust combined with that V8 noise. The interior was typical of BMW at that era. The outside in my opinion looked very cool ( I like its shape). HOWEVER...hahaha, from a perspective of having a strange looking v8 bmw suv it served its purpose in looking the part. BUT from a practicality point of view (as you sad) what C.R.A.P. Yet again I liked its aggressive look. So yeah, mixed opinions on it, still felt good driving it.

I remember seeing this on the market when I was shopping for my E70. Glad I didn’t pick that one up and attempt to fix it
The infamous s63 I dreaded working on those The early S63 and N63 were just bad, from rod bearings failing and then throwing a rod throw the block to, timing guide breaking as plastic get brittle, to valve stem seals leaking and smoke out of exhaust, to all kinds of issues. I use to just pull motor as easily to work on, that how hard it is to work on due to backwards design. Thankfully they fixed most the issues with the later TU versions but a way better design.
I like the styling of the X6 - Lift it and put offroad tires on it and it becomes a Rallye-FIghter-ish daily driver.
