    I paid 30k for a mint, rust free G500 in January. It's hard to overstate how much you don't "get it" until you spend some time in one. They are among the coolest, most worthwhile cars money can buy. I just HATE that they're 'status symbols' now which has vastly inflated the value. Everyone should get a chance at owning even a 20 year old base G; because they're just so freaking cool and capable.

    "cool" is very subjective. While I have liked the look of the G Waggons in videos by themselves, when you see them in reality with their obscene size and box shape next to normie cars, you realize, you must have the mind and possibly the "size" of a 5 year old boy to think you look cool in them. It basically just tells everyone, hey, I dont give a fuck about any of you. And sure, that's something you could want to tell people, but then what does that tell about yourself. And I am specifically referring to the luxury g waggons, not the old school ones people actually used for that they were intended to, i.e actual work in remote places without paved roads.

    I'm with you here. Dealers and resellers heated up the market so bad that we still see people want unbelievable prices for their used cars. I'm glad that 2020 G-Wagens finally went down. No sorry to those who paid $250K+ for it. Also the fact Mercedes is updating the current G means earlier 2018+ models should depreciate even more. I'm curious to see what happens when EQG comes out. Funny thing these old 2005-2011 G55 are still holding it's value and they can't simply sink below $30K regardless of its condition. Even rusty ones are sold for over $30K. I'd just wait. Eventually many of these old M113K G-wagens will have even more problems because lots of folks buy them to resell a year later while spending only on oil change.

  • @plektosgaming

    @plektosgaming

    6 ай бұрын

    The thing is... it will. Because there is enough housing to fill demand. Wait, what? I can hear you say. The real estate and rental corporations own as much as 20-40% of most cities and those homes are kept off the market to keep prices high OR rented out. This will only last so long before the houses are wrecked due to no maintenance (the companies don't even pay to keep the lawns green or pools from sliming over they are so cheap/slumlords) or people simply can't afford the insane rent. Add in looming bank collapses and an inability to eventually-re-rent places that are falling down and they will be forced to flee the rental market. But this will take about 5-10 more years. So.. pay as little as you can for rent and save your money. When it does hit the fan, it will be worse than the last housing collapse. Edit - In my city, Las Vegas, 40% (!!!) of homes are rentals now. Actual families that want to own a home are having to buy in new subdivisions (soon to be upside down on their loans ) or nothing as everything that is for sale is gobbled up by multi-billion dollar corporations/cash sales in minutes after being listed. Every channel has ads for "we'll pay cash for you home!" running every hour. And all of that eventually does have to equalize. The trick is to survive and hold onto your money until then.

    @@lucaspm98 In most cities, yes. But here in Las Vegas, we were down to 30% vacancies or abandoned properties after 2008 and then they opened up two huge sections of government land for future expansion as well. So there was always enough space and in fact many apartments are 15-20% vacant. The issue is that 90% of the apartments are owned by out of state corporations that all colluded to use the same software. So prices change based on who is looking at it and on an hourly basis. All run by AI. And in the last two years, rents have nearly doubled. Where I am was $800 a month, now $1400 as once a property adjusts by $2 upwards, the rest instantly follow it. Leading to artificial speculation and a increases. No haggling, either, and it's a miracle if you can even find who the owner is, let alone contact the manager who has no power to do anything anyways. The issue is.. this now has moved to the real estate market with new families being forced to buy into new housing divisions (which are still being built weekly) as anything older is immediately bought out by AI bots. Even to the point where Zillow and others were also buying properties to make money off of the market. So in the last year prices have doubled despite the population growth remaining about the same, jobs about the same, and taxes about the same. 100% based on banks, realtors, and corporations speculating with real estate like it's the stock market. Eventually it will come crashing down, though. Seen it before in the early 2000s - huge growth and then everyone flees once the next recession hits.

    Hoovie the dealer business model changed (new and then used) with semiconductor shortages and further supply chain management issues during COVID. Dealers moved from volume at MSRP to MSRP+++ on much lower units out the door. The buyer bought into the gouging with the addiction to must have the latest new ... The market is going through a correction and the current dealer model (new and subsequently used) is being threatened by some OEMs. This is how I see what is and did take place.

    For more normal vehicles (like the Bronco) the avg mileage has gone up a lot, explaining a lot of the depreciation. Luxury vehicles though have depreciated much more rapidly than normal vehicles for a long time. The period from 2020 to earlier this year was just an artificially inflated market caused by shortages surrounding covid-19.
