The only people who seem to love this car are Russians and that is probably because of the poor roads there that they have to opt for an SUV. When you have good roads like those in America/Canada, you will likely pick a different car.

9 years later i bought an x5m and on the 700 mile drive home from virginia I agree with everything. I wonder how much 1m's would cost today if someone totaled those 8 lined up lmao.

I recently purchased a x6 50i and I will never drive anything else. Looks amazing plus you know you're driving a true machine.

It's a matter of opinions. Most people think it's ugly. It's too big to be sporty. BMW made this for rich soccerplayer-wifes. I honestly think this car puts BMW to shame. X5? OK. But, X6 or X3? What's that for kind of crap? xD Just trying to fit in the market. Sadly.

GodlikeNL . I tried to race one of these in my heavily-modded e36 M3, on the highway...my GPS read 155mph, when the X6m passed me like I was sitting still and pulled about 1/8th of a mile lead and slowed down. At 155 he blew my doors off, I have no clue how fast he was going...probably had the same software tune I did, which would mean a top-end of about 180mph for the x6M

***** I believe it is very fast. I just think it would be better if it wasn't so big, OR if they made it properly offroad. A proper offroad vehicle looking like a x6 would be awesome. But sadly it's a road car with a large body, which doesn't seem to be brought up by the guys from the M division. This car was designed by meetings and that's why I don't like it.

thank you. The Raptor, unless you're talking about attempting to park it in a tiny garage, is actually MORE useful than a regular F150, at least for the things we use it for. It's wider, so it corners flatter when we're filming. It's got a smooth suspension, so the shots we get look better. It can haul just as many people, but with the 6.2L engine, it goes faster. And it's great off-road, and holds all our equipment just fine. The regular F150 only beats it in max payload, which we don't need.

Great production on this video. Especially considering its free. What did you guys use as the chase vehicle to get those low camera shots?

Yes a friend of my Sisters just got one last month (the diesel not the M! Still spent $100,000 on it though) to replace her 320D - so I finally had a good close look at one - horrific looking thing on the outside and so damn expensive too, but the interior was very nice - really doesn't seem very large on the inside considering it's not small on the outside though. I think the 320D was nicer - She loves it though.

Yes, the X5M and X6M come with Dunlop SP Sportmaxx SST RunFlat tires. In all fairness, we didn't take the X6M out on the street to test ride quality, but the tires did handle 50 laps around Spartanburg quite well. I'm doing the One Lap of America next week in the X5M, and we will be able to test the ride quality over 3,200 miles of driving. Check updates from our website!

I live in Spartanburg... and driving past this place every day on the way to work brings a smile on my face, especially since I am well acquainted with the man who runs the place.

This thing doesn't know what it wants to be...kind of like the people buying it don't know what they want in a vehicle. They want the speed of a sports car but like the ride height of an SUV and the AWD feature (that they never use for offroading in an SUV anyways). Get one or the other (Sports car or SUV). Crossovers are the stupidest fucking vehicle segment since you lose the cargo space appeal and the offroad capabilities of an SUV, and since this thing is such a barge you don't get the speed that you would had you went with the M3 or M5.

crephotos ever hear of different tastes? some people like one thing and some like the other, i would flat out say that e46 m3 is the best looking bmw ever built and then someone might come out and say that e36 or the newer e92 is. just a different perspective man. bmw suv's are too large, and x6 is smaller, so if someone wants a tiny suv this is perfect fit

I've driven all the M cars around that same track. Matt is right on about the way the X6M feels. It weighs 5500 + pounds with a couple of people in it, and driving it fast felt like you were defying the laws of physics. Towards the end we were doing just utterly stupid things in the thing just to see if we could make it crash, but short of actually deliberately steering the thing into a tree we couldn't. It's like owning a pet pterodactyl...useless, but unbelievably cool.

what car do you use to shoot? if it´s random, is there a pattern?

Your a dead wrong troll. Crossover is category when refereeing to sub compact SUVs. The handling and performance is at a median between cars and a full sized SUV. The truck looks amazing and is said to drive amazingly also. Tighten up the suspension, remove the limiter, add a sport exhaust and a body kit; now you've made the best better.

Jordan Reed The SOLE reason automakers use "crossover" is because they don't want to use "hatchback" or "wagon". Just because it rides higher than other cars doesn't make it something new. And a SUV that's smaller than most is still a SUV. Unless you have new category names for every car size, too. LOL

***** it rides higher than a wagon, handles better, is shorter, is wider, and is actually based off an SUV frame that's been modified to fit the automakers standard. it's nowhere close to being proportionally equal to a hatch or wagon. It's not only the size that defines it. the performance and usability. it's a small SUV that performs like a car, but can do more than one when needed. it's for those who need a hatch or wagon but also need a little more space, better ascetics, more versatility, and in a size that fits their individual and collective needs as buyers.

The longer your explanations, the vaguer the definition. Technically, every car is a "sports-utility vehicle" as they all have a degree of performance and usability. Categories help communicate information about a vehicle to others. Using nonspecific words does the opposite of that and only helps someone to obfuscate the facts about a product. Like an automaker trying to push out a vehicle as anything other than what really it is: a hatchback sedan. I hope this doesn't get you fired from which ever automaker's social networking division you work for.

We made this film back in October, and the new M5's weren't out yet. It was either the M3, which we'd already tested, the 1M, which we'd already tested, or the old M5, which was basically out of production at the time. The X6M was fun as hell on the track though .

I saw one at the dealership in Smithtown, NY and I really like it,I think it is a gorgeous vehicle and I hope I will get to own one one day.Especially after Matt Farah's review on the smoking tire as well as Motor Trend's review I see that it truly is in keeping eith BMW'S slogan "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Suv's have no right to be that fast and stable but BMW has defied convention. They even use the magnetic shocks that GM has licensed which are normally on the Corvette. Very smart decision, Kudos !

Truthfully I first thought this car was ugly too, but after dad got one, I realized it doesnt actually look bad, it looks half decent, when you are there and you got a full 3D context of the car, it looks great, and it isnt the M series to, but it has a Supersprint Exhaust and an ECU on it to make up for it, it produces near the same amount of power, give or take.
