It's really sad that someone would keep that much JUNK! Then leave it up to someone else to finally toss most of it away! I spent like 6 weeks and traveled for Texas to Tennessee to deal with my uncle's estate and do what he was unwilling to do, take 95 percent of his shit to Goodwill and the dump! Crazy what people collect in their lives they can't let go of!

@@bigjohnson7415I’m in the same boat. Dealing with my moms health as her PoA, doctors, lawyers, trying to sell the house. Finally got out to her house this last summer and 99% of it had to go to the dump, plus she was a heavy smoker so everything reeked. I used to do estate sales, amassed quite a collection of 60’s-90’s t shirts but have been selling them off. Cleaning out someone else’s crap will turn you into a minimalist

A very good friend of mine in Croatia, who passed away from a heart attack back in 2007, had a room full of equipment: A Mesa Boogie MKIII, Fender Twin Reverb Amp, Marshall and Vox's, loads of effects and guitars, hundrets of records which datet back to his youth when he was 15 and other good stuff and memorabilia. All this went for a incredibly low price - I think 2.000 Euros. His mother sold the stuff to a lucky guy who took the opportunity. She had no clue what she was selling. I asked her for his favourite guitar, a Fender Strat, kind of the Eric Clapton "Blackie". He used to play that guitar all day long and I would have bought it to keep it in his memory but it was gone with the hole package. It's sad when everything you hold dear goes away for dirt cheap because you can't take it with you.

I had a similar thing with a very good friend who passed away about 20 years ago. His widow sold the Gibson Les Paul that he used to play regularly in his band and also taught me with. I would've paid a decent price, not only because it was of sentimental value to me, but they had 4 young children to support when he died. :(

Hey, Zimm, I used to HAVE one of those old Doctor Q envelope followers! This was back in the days before people started mounting their pedals on boards. Back then, pedals tended to be kinda "flavor of the week" to me. Nowadays, I'm strictly digital, so I usually have one available if I want one -- and sometimes they work better anyway -- but seeing that old thing brought it back for me. Thanks.

  • @tisbonus

Yo Zimm, that was Johnny Otis' son Shuggie on that album cover you didn't recognize. Half Greek and half black. Signed a deal with Epic at the age of 16 and wrote Strawberry Letter 23 only to have it stolen by Quincy Jones. The Brothers Johnson built a career off that song. Nice to see the original album after all these years.

I moved to a different city a few yrs ago. And found a guitar shop in town. Part of his displays was old rock records on the wall, some for sale. I needed some guitar work so I went to bargain. Couldn't afford it yet so time went on. At a job I got I found some records and grabbed them up. Went to the guitar store and now I had tradebait. Got all my repairs done and made a lifetime friend with those FREE records to me. Never know !

Easy with the records man. Jeeze! And don’t lay them flat. It compresses the grooves and you lose high end. I can remember knowing what song was about to play on the radio by the sound of the pop n hiss right before the music started. And I must have moved the needle back to replay Van Halen riffs 100’s of times trying to figure them out. When I learned about dropped tunings I was kind of pissed.

First video of yours that I have watched - I'm a jock who can hit a golf ball pretty well with good timing but could even hit the beat on the 'triangle' at school aged 7 amd was told to find another class. Sorry, quick FYI as to why I was unlikely to watch one of your posts. Anyway, I digress as the point of my message was ro say that you come across as the most deserved and ideal person to have purchased these storage units. I would go so far as to say the owner is most likely smiling down on you and chuffed his accumulation of all things music is in your modest hands. Good on you. Tom

GR-01 i think it is. Lots of tools and camping stuff. I feel bad about leaving my family to deal with it all. Perhaps i’ll just sell a bunch of it as i no longer have space for it and have enough gear to play with on hand.
