    I think some of the guitar synths allow you to install a pickup on any guitar and control the synth unit

    I love all these treasures you find in the Closets of lost gold! I have a Porta Studio MKIV 4-track that uses cassettes from at least 20 years ago. Analog with digital controls! The best of both worlds.

    That Maestro foot switch you have there was a footswitch controller for the Maestro PS1-A phase shifter. It permitted the user to control the three speeds of the phase shifter for fast, medium and slow. When switching from fast to slow the speed of the effect slowed down gradually which sounded a little bit like a Leslie speaker being slowed down. The PS1-A was a very popular effects devise back in the day. The PS1 phase shifter is still available on the used market today and is fairly common but ridiculously over-priced at around $500 IMO. That footswitch that you have is pretty rare though. It was specifically made for the PS1-A. You don't see very many of those around.

    Roland works with roland guitars or any guitar with a roland GK-2 or GK-3 pickup mounted on it, which is what most people do. Actually probably wouldnt work with an old roland guitar synth guitar, since those were a whole different type of analog voltage control triggering. But in the 90s fender and roland partnered on a GK equipped strat. The first synth to use that system iirc was the rack mount gr-50 followed by the big GR-1 floorboard synth, which I had, then they came out with the cheaper GR-09. The GR-30 was later

    @@terryenglish7132 no they won't. It will only pass through the guitar signal to the guitar outputs, you cannot trigger any of the synth sounds without a GK hex pickup

  • @k.h.1587

    @k.h.1587

    9 ай бұрын

    @@terryenglish7132 yes they are just 6 magnetic pickups but they are not processed as audio, they are for pitch detection which is what triggers the internal synth sounds. They use a funky 13 or thereabouts pin cable that also sends the guitar pickups along with them to be routed to your amp via guitar out jacks, you need a separate amp or PA input for the synth sounds. This was middle school (old school being the old analog guitar synths). New school technology can trigger simply from a normal guitar. I don't know what you have, but if it does not have that multi pin cable input for a GK system, it is just a new school synth, not the old GR series guitar synthesizer

    The Roland guitar synthesizer unit pairs with a Fender Strat that has a built in Roland pickup and corresponding plug jack. I would be interested in it because I had one of these Strats and gave it to my nephew who is getting quite good. PS I’m on Reverb etc. cheers!

    I’d rather have that old Japanese flat top than just about any beginner or mid to lower level guitars. I’d just about guarantee that it would make you throw rocks at anything new under 1000 dollars. Seriously it’s a cool old guitar. Crazy when I started playing back in the 90s you couldn’t give them old Ibanez pedals away unless it was a tube screamer. Also I wonder if that tech21 OD is just the pre amp of the DI it could be cool in the loop or the front end. I’ve got a beringer clone of the tech21 sans amp and it’s like it has cab sims on it and I can’t get a sound out of it in the loop or into the power amp. It would be cool to be able to have fender cleans and Marshall lead tone in a pedal like that. I’m sure there’s other pedals that do that now but something is cool about that old Tech21 stuff.
