Easy to Build Tube Amp

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

After my daughter and I made a custom kit guitar we needed an amp for her to use and my little battery powered practice amp wasn’t gonna cut it. Since I’ve always wanted to build a tube amp, but was worried I’d be getting in over my head, there was no better way to jump into that world than by making a 57’ Mini Tweed! It’s a pretty simple project and the amp sounds great!

If you're willing to buy the parts individually, you can source them yourself for a lot less (assuming you have or can build a cabinet for it and a metal housing suitable for the tubes and wiring), and then assemble them according to the plans available online.

Great Job Mike!! I just discovered your channel yesterday, while searching KZread for other instrument builders & restorers, besides the ones I've been watching for the last 5 years or so. 🙂 I must say that watching this particular video of yours, makes me want to jump right out and order one of those Telecaster Kits, and and Amp Kit as well!! Unfortunately; I personally, will have to wait awhile to order them, though;😮, as I am on Disability, and will have to wait until at least Oct. when one particular bill of mine will be paid off. Rest assured, I WILL eventually, get me both!! 😊 Seeing your Daughter's excitement, got me to fondly remembering some projects I did together with my step-son, while he was growing up! Who knows, maybe I'll end up doing some sort of projects with my one granddaughter, as she always wants to stick close to her "Pa-Pa!" 😊 Take Care & Thanks for the great videos! Am very glad to now be subscribed to your channel! Highest Regards! Ron Abilene, TX.

O.k, so, turret and eyelet boards aren't true "point-to-point" wiring. Point-to-point does away with any board and uses terminal strips such as you mounted for the power transformer at the start and/or components soldered direct to each other (e.g. resistors and caps soldered direct onto pots or tube sockets. It's pretty rare to see though and people have come to commonly mislabel the older style (but far more common) hand-wired eyelet/turret board builds ass "point-to-point"

  • @WoodshopMike

Interesting, thanks for that! I did a little research to double check terminology and saw exactly what you stated, that this method and turret boards are referred to at point-to-point.
