I Bought A BMW X5 With A QUARTER MILLION MILES On It *Selling For $1*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Click Here harrys.com/watchjrgo to get your Starter Set from Harry's for $3!
The BMW X5 is a car I've wanted since I was a little kid. That signature BMW powerplant, all wheel drive, and easy to work on is. a pretty compelling package. When I got the chance to pick one up for $1,500 I jumped at it. This one has been well taken care of and at 253,000 miles it doesn't smoke, minimal lifter tick, and only small deferred maintenance issues. I'm going to breath a bit more life into this car, then sell it for $1 for Christmas (I can't legally do a giveaway so it's a very good sale price).

Yep. I pity the fool who pays $1 for this vehicle. It will be an everlasting nightmare. It is why JR talks about how nice it drives as it does - the durability is sorely lacking. Why so many receipts. I owned a 2006 Saab 9-3 for 12 years, 191,000 miles and tracked what I did to fix it. Next to nothing. Spent a total of $350 on repairs the rest was maintenance which includes the front and valve cover rubber engine seals as those are maintenance items (if you don't count that as maintenance parts cost me another $200).

We got a 07' RAV4 for my work, (back in 2007, maybe 20 miles on odometer) they drove it tell about 270k, then the engine started consuming oil like mad, and the catalytic converts were shot. Seems on the Toyota engines of that era 07-09', the piston rings wear out from the passages getting clogged. It was a design fault, most would fail around the 100k mark if they were going to fail, so getting to 270k on a business vehicle that does minimum of 100 miles a day was not too bad. Rather unfortunate, because the rest of the vehicle was still in remarkably good shape. No rust, (NM car) transmission seemed perfectly fine, A/C still blowing cold. Just a lot of miles as a company vehicle.

You can reset it by following these steps: 1 ) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine) 2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec. 3) then hit start button once to turn off power. 4) then remove foot from accelerator. 5) then waite for 2 minutes.

It has headlight washers so it's probably got Xenon headlights. The radiator expansion tank is notorious for splitting, plus there is an additional thermostat in the same region. I sold heaps as a BMW dealer parts interpreter. There was also an exhaust retrofit kit, which could alter the appearance to make the car look like a V8.

A 253K mile BMW, that's impressive! And that stack of service records looks about right for a car of that mileage, assuming it was well maintained. This looks like an interesting project, you're going to have to pour some money into parts for this one, though.

That sound with the cooling system I bet is just a worn out expansion tank cap seal and these are easy and cheap to replace, since the expansion tank doesn't have a split down the right side I'd say thats been replaced before and its possibly still got life left in it, but if working on the cooling system its best to replace it.

I would expect a BMW with that many miles to be in terrible condition but it seems like someone took it to the dealership and looked after it except the exterior as it seems it hadn't been washed in a while. I think if it has very little problems with that many miles it deserves to be saved. I also love the tailgate/trunk.

Clean possible corrosion out of the bulb sockets that's throwing high resistance at the LCM... measure out o-ring dimensions from the coolant hose fittings and buy new ones for a couple bucks... How's the thrust arm bushings look with that front tire wear? I can't believe the pixels on the dash and radio/climate all work! BTW what model Autel is that, really considering replacing all my bmw/vag/etc specific scan tools with a single model.

Sorta doubt it was the first, but the Lexus LS400 had a power tilting and optional power telescoping steering wheel in... 1990. Of course most of them don't work anymore because those early Lexus were electrical nightmares (or are now because of failing capacitors in literally every circuit board on every module on the car). Somewhat different in implementation, but the 70s S-Class had a power reclining and heated rear seat, while the front seats were fully manual lol.

I've got a 2006 version of this. Great car but some issues. For one, it does not like city driving. Can have issues with condensation build up in the intake which can freeze and detonate the engine....mine did...hence ..new engine and catch can system to help avoid this. Door carriers break because people pull out on handles and not up. Airbag seat occupancy pads go bad...may be under a recall. Mine was not but got a $36 override box from eBay and solved it, Common issue. Steering angle sensors go bad, yaw sensors go bad. Random weird electrical gremlins that come and go. Overall, though, a good car. Cant find anything close in comfort and style for the money. My son drives it and loves it.
