So many people bashing on Motor Trend for making the right choice. Geez. Maybe they didn't see that this also won World Car of the Year which is voted on by 82 auto journalists from around the world. I guess they are all wrong and all the keyboard warriors who have barely even seen the car in person nevermind drive it are right.

I often take my parents Ioniq 5 II have a 2019 BMW M340i) one thing I noticed is the constant beeping of the car, especially the overeager lane assist. But luckily you can turn it off by pressing the lane assist button for around 2 seconds on the steering wheel. What my BMW also does better is the semi autonomous driving. With the BMW I'm driving 50 km/h right at the sign and it notices signs very accurately. The Ioniq takes it's time and unfortunately I live in a country where the fines for speeding are pretty high. But other than that I love cruising in the Ioniq 5!

I owned one for 5 months, and I agree with you that it is a great compact SUV. The interior space is higher than much larger ICE SUVs, or EV SUVs built on an ICE architecture. It’s a lot nicer than most people would imagine both driving wise, and interior quality wise. But it is incredibly difficult to find in anything but the base spec without major markups. Numerous Genesis dealers don’t do markups. So once the GV60 Advanced becomes more available, I’d recommend that over the Limited AWD Ioniq. It has a much more luxurious interior, and more buttons for things that you have to use the screen for in the Ioniq, such as the seat heater/ventilation. At $60k, it’s only $4k more than the MSRP of the Ioniq Limited AWD pre markup.

@@akennedystocks Kinda. I'm a recovering Tesla fanboy. I'd still consider a Tesla too. But the fact is the quality for Tesla's just isn't there yet and it should have been. They are an established car manufacturer now and they still pump out quality of a start up. This EGMP system has faster charging than a Tesla too. Tesla has better autonomous systems and a superior charging infrastructure, but at this point it's the only thing saving them. And at the end of the day a Hyundai might just be the best choice if you find that Musk has become a real jerk and don't want to give him a dime.
This review is very pleasant to watch. Well done!
So crazy y’all filmed this at Otay lake! Right where I used to walk every single night! Awesome!
The IONIQ is a good looking vehicle inside and out. I agree with the reviewer it does have retro styling cues mixed with a modern flair that are appealing. As small to mid-sized electric vehicles are concerned, its a complete opposite direction in the styling department from the category leader Toyota Prius. Albeit the 2023 arrow-head-like redesign of the Prius is quite a looker. But non-the-less, both are appealing in their own way. It's just a matter if you want a 'car' or 'SUV'.

Interesting video. Thanks for the information. But you're wrong about the price. You gave suggested prices, but the dealers (EVERY ONE) is tacking on anywhere from $12 to $20 thousands (YES THOUSAND) more because of the demand. On top of that, NOBODY has one they will let you test drive. You have to put a deposit down, put your name on a waiting list, and you are offered whatever comes in (several months down the road). No customization, no choices really. It's a joke. No matter how good, pretty, cost-saving, etc it is, the dealerships have made it impossible to recommend one until they dispense with this nonsense.

Talking about 80s is funny because those were horrible years for anything, what does fast charging have to do with an SUV? 2300lbs of towing and you have a bike? Motor trend you should be ashamed.
Don't buy over priced EVs. The question to be asked is do you go on long road trips often, if yes go with ones with higher charging speed, if not just buy BOLT EUV, it is around $22K after tax rebate. It is the cheapest EV you can buy with 247 miles of range and road noise is less than Tesla at higher speeds.
Cash money that guy does not bike.
Electric cars will not be viable until you can exchange your battery to a bigger capacity without issue. You can keep your 20 year old pickup truck because you only need to add fuel. Stretch each stop to 20 minutes and you get 200 miles of charge. 50+ years ago, there weren't gas stations at every exit on the highway either.
