To lions, hyenas *are* vermin and their eternal enemies. Even elephants aren't nearly as much of an obstacle when it comes to hunting and keeping territory. To us, hyenas are just as much as good hunters, if not better, than lions, but to the actual lions, they're constant crowds of stalkers. Hence, the narrator speaks from their perspective and describes the hyenas as such. From the perspective of the hyenas, lions are bullies and tyrants, picking on lone hyenas or small groups of hyenas but then backing off and being frightened when hyenas mob up in big parties to attack/retaliate, and feel the exact same hatred towards lions as the other way around.

A hyena can't grab or claw at prey to hold it for a neck bite, they can only bite and tear . It also can't say to it's prey 'excuse me this would be a lot easier if you'd let me bite your neck so i could kill you more quickly, thanks'. They'll be back when their cubs grow up. That way the male lion will have some back up, Hopefully he has around 3 or 4 strong sons. That'll show those hyenas who's boss!!
