Can we see the samples through a thermal imager to see them rapidly heat up when crushed?

Friendly suggestion: “Do not attempt at home what you see in this video”. Or, “Do not repeat at home what you see in this video.” Drop the “then” entirely. It doesn’t belong. If the message appeared at the end of the video then “Do not repeat at home what you saw in this video” would be acceptable. 🙂

Will you be able to melt the neodymium fragments in a kiln and recast them into a solid again? Interesting video and a total waste of perfectly good magnets... cheers.

what is the liquid being forced out of the tin?
@R50_J0

Don’t know. But my guess is water. A big piece of pure tin like that may have been part of a used electroplating anode that was machined to size on a metal lathe to make it uniform in size and aesthetically pleasing in appearance. Casting or corrosion porosity in the metal may have held a small amount of water-based plating solution that was squeezed out when the metal cylinder was compressed and the porosity spaces eliminated.

So, neodimium magnets are brittle 😂 Bet the team spent the next week clearing surrounding machinery of the shards... 😅

When you say “iron” do you mean “steel”? The use of the term iron in this situation suggests pure elemental iron. I think you meant to say steel or “mild steel”. Both of those terms typically imply a steel with a low carbon content.

Brass and bronze are two very different alloys. Both contain copper but one is alloyed with tin and the other zinc. Different physical and chemical properties also.

@@R50_J0 indeed. And the metal in the video, which is titled "bronze", is almost certainly brass. Easy to determine by checking the densities they show.
