These last two videos were awesome. The fishijgnand then the breakdown. I've had one of these for a while and never thrown it. That'll change this spring!

Out here in Az some of our lakes have a ton of brush, mesquite trees etc. this bait come thru that stuff amazingly well for a treble hook bait. Those that know, know! I putting a “crank” in places no one else would even dare.

I throw them all the time on 20lb. Had one of the full size ones bill pull out on the first day fishing it. Thought my line snapped reeled in and had the bill. Went and picked the bait up and super glued it back. Crazy

Great video for those who have yet to experience the Hybrid Hunter. I had asked a bit ago if you were thinking of coming out with a silent version. the more I thought about it after I asked, I don't know if it would be as effective as the original due to one of the aspects of those hard strikes to me is the sound. I think it just pisses off the fish into knocking the snot out of it. But maybe testing a 2 tap or one knocker? I only think that because there are times when the original red eye or sexy dawg is the bait but then they change over and want the 2 tap or one knocker respectively.

Good video. I have several and have caught some fish on them. I do not have confidence in them yet. I’m sure it’s just me . Got to fish them more. I have same problem with chatterbaits

I bought 4 of the juniors and two of the regular ones about two years ago. Lost a regular one on a bowfin lol. But the chartreuse and black one in the junior size, the first day I threw it was around an old falling tree in a pond, I wrecked them! Four or five 1-2lb bass off that tree. Only lost one fish. Was using a Berkley cherry wood 6.6’ medium fast with a 6.5.1 black max. Worked like a dream. No grass in sight lol. Love that bait!! So how cold does water have to get for it to stop catching fish is my only question lol.

Could you use 20lb mono instead of floro,or would u have to switch rods to,great video love this bait

Started fishing the hybrid hunter about a year ago not much success but dammit I one tied on now ready to go.

You need to make a signature series if you ever make new colors.

Thanks for the video and information, great stuff. I got sucked into the HH a few months ago and snagged an assortment of them to try. Unfortunately I haven’t had much success and additionally had issues with the bill breaking. This has happened each time I’ve fished with them. I’m fishing mostly around wood and wondered if this is was a common issue with the design of the bill? 7’2 MH Fast, 14# line is what I’m using.

Never broke a bill in 15 years, I like 20# and 7’2 is a bit short but it should be fine.

I was at a lake and I decided to try the hybrid hunter jr on the grass edges and wrecked them.

Todd I wanted to ask do you throw the bigger bait most of the time?

Have you thought about making a minnow style lure with the same shapped bill on it just wondering?

I like the Jr version. I pond or lake fish from the bank. Last week. The 3rd week of April. The males were on the nest. But the big females full of egg's were in 4 to 5 feet of water. The males were 2 pd's. The females 4 pd's and over. Caught 3 females and about 10 males. The red craw color was kicking ass! The hooks aren't the best. Switched them out. Same size hooks. Not the effect the floating of the jr Hybird Hunter. Fishermen. Do your self a favor. Todd is telling the truth. Not since the Red eyed shad lipless came out. The Hybird hunter jr is really good. Rapala came out with a down turned bill. Its a awesome bait too. Shawn😎

What I'd like to know Todd is more info about the grass we fish this bait in..so I only have 1 lake locally to me that has hydrilla and right now it's brown so what I'd like to know is it still good? If it’s hydrilla doesn’t matter the color there are fish in it somewhere. I can’t help you on what grass to fish it in, I fish all of it and then determine the pattern.

They all float, but it’s not a wake bait and not a shallow crankbait. It runs in a depth of water that most bait don’t travel in. Plus most baits can’t be retrieved as fast as this one. It really unique

Yes, that might be the newer version, these are 2 year old reels.

So Rapala has had the shallow shad rap for years which has that same style lip what is the difference in the two ? I know that the shad rap is balsa and it dosent have a big rattle but other than that how do they differ ?

There is a huge difference they aren’t really in the same category. The lip is the least of concern

@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I have bought about a dozen about three of each I just haven’t had an opportunity to use them yet , I can’t wait, hopefully I am going smallie fishing sometime this month and we do really good with spinner baits so I hope to use the Hybrids and out fish my sons, I will be sure to let you know how I did. My son caught a 5-9 on Dec. 23 and I caught a 4-11 in Dec. a few years back .

I have some, but can't catch fish with them?

I was just going to ask the same question but I noticed he’s not using the split grip model he’s using the full handle. The full handle model only comes in fast action. In the split grip model they have the it available as both fast action and moderately fast.

What size are the hooks?

Can we get a few more of the original Bubba colors? Most of my old Bubbasiin those other good colors are beat to hell.
