have you ever considered putting on gear wrench at the same time as the nut, if you already have one? might be easier than lining up the wrench every half turn, or it may just be unessasary complexity.

Those 660's are a bit more "mature", they have been updating and upgrading those. I would start with a g660, the blue monster and work from there if a work saw is the goal. The g372 next for an around the house or farm saw. Same with the kits, the 660 is better developed than the rest. THe 372 based kit is pretty good as well.

Big Heavy Powerful 100plus cc saws from the 80's. Several configurations with the last being the 298xp.

Hi have seen quite a few of your videos and it seems you have alot of experience with those Chinese saws which would you recommend from experience 372xt or 372xp I can't decide between the two.

A tossup. If you want to modify one the XT is probably the better choice. If you want to just run it as delivered, I would not recommend either, but would point you to the g372 offering. It was closer to being ready....cheap fuel lines and stuff like that need to be replaced PDQ but that all of them.

@@afleetcommand Thanks for the response I ended up ordering the xt and will see where it goes, Im hoping to build a cheap cord wood saw to get my old Homelite SXL 925'S a break on the bigger stuff there fun but ,some parts getting harder to get.

Maybe I'll drag mine out again and tweak it as I do the OEM X-Torq's. Gutting the intake and such. Muffler mod.

Not towards the 372. Husqvarna 55 when pulling the crank into one side of the case witch side do I put it in first. The clutch side then to the flywheel side and put together or vise versa or does it matter with the 50,51,55 series cases

Doesn't really matter I guess. I do the PTO side first on the 372/390's as it captures the connecting rod so I don't have to monkey with that on the final pull. But it doesn't matter. I need to get you to just look at stuff like that and use common sense, kind of like "Luke" in the Star Wars Movies..Use the force, Try chit and make mistakes try again ...:)

I didnt think it did but the helpful tip of the crankshaft was what I was looking for. Could not remember if it mattered or not. I'd rather ask then not ask. I do know how the mistakes are and do it again took me 6 new poulan 2175 cylinders before I got each process of assembly correct. Sometimes it's best to do a lot and get certain processes wrong so you can teach yourself not all have good teachers some teach themselves. I've self taught most everything on 2 strokes when I first started with the basic homeowner saw to learn the basics. Everything else after the first saw I got running with no info on what to do and what not to do. I was learning from a damn good saw builder named Walter if I remember correctly! The reason I got into using bigger saws and hopefully someday having a food 372xp or Xtorq. Anyways buddy hope you've had a good 2020 so far and keep up the good videos love watching them.

I appreciate that and why I would like to get you to the "next level" as you do show true interest. Guess where I am going with this is trying to get folks like your self to "visualize" the process. Pick the thing up and see what flops around , if anything; then visualize how those part interact as they are assembled. Sounds cliche? Maybe, but what happens over time is that "model" built through experience say from disassembling / assembling saw such as those 660's can be applied to many other saws. And you will "see" those type of issues long before you actually run into them the hard way. At least know the types of things to be on the look out for. Might do a video on that someday, almost like the sports concept...:)

You are very welcome I've definitely learned a lot in the past 3 years of watching your videos. I can say I have and probably will keep doing so but I have watched specific videos multiple of times just for exactly what you're talking about. I have noticed that most saw concepts are the same not saying each saw is the same but how things are done with them if that makes sense. Just learning a basic clam shell is about the best way I know to get someone to learn a saw get use to one but bot so use to it they hurt themself.
