Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Vivienne, the bathroom is lovely. I really like the mirrors on the door, very clever. Simon, the paneling was genius and it looks wonderful. All of the trim work looks professionally done.👷♂️ I had completely forgotten about the up-cycled tub. Another clever DIY project. The flooring looks great on camera and very authentic. Your journey with these rooms starting out in their stripped down skeleton-status to where you catapult them into the final glorious end for each one of them, gives and brings hope to us at home trying to do some renovations as well. Put me in for the top floor room (One of them!) Dreams do come true. But...(. I am so pushy lol) ...Looks lovely though! My husband totally agrees about the floor and how it is being done. Such a great idea and 'safe' which is most important! Absolutely do love the wall paper design used in bathroom! The bath tub truly is worth admiring! Luxurious bathing too, am sure! Simon and you, Vivienne, are doing the finest job working on this Chateau. Can see you really are putting your love into it, just like you did with your other one as well! No one could ever love staying in any room any more than those knowing you have put your heart into every single part of it! Can truly see how the wallpapering would have been very hard, and then think you were alone, making it harder, with the slopes of ceilings etc.

Love it!! ❤❤The only thing I don’t like is the toilet seat cover. The color is off in my opinion 😊
What a huge job!!! It’s gorgeous!! That bathroom is delightful. A few suggestions: hook for robes on the frame of the door? Shorten the curtain. Maybe even add a ruffle or replace with lace, very Art Nouveau. You’d only need a tiny piece. Paint the long shelf the same color as the background wallpaper. You can add a strip of molding along the shelf to add a decorative element and make it more impressive. You’ve done a brilliant job!!

I thought the big reveal was going to feature you and Simon taking a bubble bath in that glorious tub! The bathroom is simply marvelous, and that tub is perfection. By the way, every morning I awake to St. Joan next to by bed (I put her in an antique frame with ancient glass), and when I get up I can view Chatelain de Jour, and Chatelain de Nuit in my bathroom while I, well, when I'm preparing to face the day.
