Hi all! A few people have commented drawing the parallels between this video and ASTARTES, by Syama Pedersen. HOXXES is intentionally a parody shot-for-shot remake of Astartes in Deep Rock Galactic; further information can be found in the description. The details of the holes punched through the glyphids, the drill heating up as it digs, even larger things like the barrels floating around are such a good tribute to both DRG and the Astartes scenes. This is excellent thus far.

well thats exactly how GW works, they see niche fun thing and make it theirs. Nids started as starship troopers, genestealers as alien, necron-terminator, empire-dune...etc... with drg its even more fun becouse they started as fun callout to squats and their end (eaten by nids), and then GW stole them back with all the creativity they couldnt muster in 20years since they squated squats

I can neither confirm nor deny who I'm having as the twins - I might even pop it out to a community vote because I'm really undecided atm. Also, very well spotted, and correctly called out :D I absolutely picked the glacial strata for the lighting matches, even though it meant going back and re-doing the glyphid skins I'd already done in substance painter.

Cheers! I might give them a second pass for the super-cut, I think I could probably add a bit of bass and heft to some of the sounds without breaking people's speakers (like I did with the intro to the first episode....)

The amount that has ended up not being used because it didn't quite hit the quality line (which isn't a crazy high bar anyway) is unreal - I was thinking of doing it through a Patreon with a condensed version on youtube - but I don't know how well that would go down. I'm really open to suggestions about it, let me know what you think! Thanks again!

A classic maneuver

It’s such an overwhelming thing. Like, it’s still impressive in on itself, but the layer of “Astartes” references gives this somewhat nostalgic feeling. Also , the soundtrack reminiscent of Astartes , but so exceptionally DRG is awesome. And I like the fact that driller is one with the pistol because of the flamethrower range

Ok, I gotta say that I LOVE the balance between seriousness and sillynes in this videos. The whole sequence of the drilling and the dwarf opening fire were ameazing, but details like the barrels and all dwarf throwing flares at the same time made chuckle. Ameazing how you can do both without leaning hard in one of the two.

With this level of quality I have not problem waiting a couple of months for the next part to arrive. Although, while it cant beat the original, it is must certainly a worthy spiritual successor!

Fantastic. The mimicry of astartes is right on, but also the fit of deep rock galactic. The barrels in space are an amazing touch, and fits almost too well. Poor little bosco drones suffering for the dwarves littering.

- Who are these astartes at all? - Astartes are ones who hadn't been accepted to Deep rock galactic.

This crew has the greatest driller of all time. Not only did he spare his allies by not using the CRISPR immediately in close quarters, but he used the subata in his off hand to give the rest a chance to make some kills.
