Guys, I just wanted to let you know how moved I am by you two, not just by your enterprise, but more importantly by your bond, by the unity that made all this possible for you. I am pretty sure you know how lucky you are to have each other. That is what is building your home, spiritually and materially. May God bless you. I am not American. I am writing from Rome (Italy), but please know that what you have is the rarest kind of wealth on this planet. When I watch your videos I witness real love, two people walking towards the same horizon. Again, God bless you.

Have now watched this young couples project and am impressed at their enthusiasm, clear ambition to improve their own and their family's outlook on life. Perhaps if we had more of these wonderful young people in our society we wouldn't have all the problems we see in our countries with the unhappiness, vandalism, drugs and general discontentment which our young people seem to have. Here are a young couple who enjoy bringing their dream to life together in a lovely amazing way. May God give them strength to complete the task and I look forward to seeing the finished product in due course. Of course the new way of life will continue for the rest of their lives. Thanks for sharing this dream with us!!!

I just found your channel after SLR people we're talking during their latest live chat about the horrible storm you had and to go check out the video and they had said to come check out your channel after watching that video I cried and then I watched the two time lapse videos about the build and venture to 1 million followers I was immediately hooked now I have been watching every video from the beginning all day long from the very first video in the truck. It has been amazing to see how you both tackled this amazing project and how you have grown as KZread producers I've had a channel for 8 years and completely stopped cuz I wasn't doing it the way I should and restarted recently and only have one video.. You have an amazing family and an amazing story to tell I am so sorry to hear about everything that you guys are going through recently but I know God has amazing plans in store for you thank you for sharing your amazing story you are an inspiration. I give every video I can remember a thumbs up and I will I'm sure I will come in again towards the end!!!!!!

What's really fascinating? Y'all being so much in agreement on not wasting money! That's difficult for the best couples to accomplish! I've (finally) had a career for 10 years and married 7, and we've never paid for television. We are 100% debt-free as of one week ago (mortgage finished too). But there are still a lot of dumb expenses, like eating out, or cut, color, and style every six weeks. Our goal is to buy land and start contracting our house build in five years. Y'all being on the same page with ALL OF IT is the most powerful way to get there fast!

Perhaps, "we" should consider quotation marks to embrace this particular contextual use of the word, "minimalism" for their lives and way of life is so varied, full, and rich....I don't know...maybe , "selectivism" or discriminating The casting aside of some largely unnecessary or unfulfilling modern "conveniences" aka excess baggage or contrivances for a "simple life" lol hardly seems to qualify as minimalism . Now, if they were still taking dumps in the woods and living by fire light; up with the sun down at nightfall then I'd be more receptive to the notion that this family was truly leading or prepared to "embrace" the minimalism of which you appear to speak

Ian Stanley I was taught to use body parts as measurements when I was taking classes in landscape technology. Thumb to pinky finger 7”, arm span = my height etc. It’s funny to measure something in front of another adult and have them ask me what I’m doing and be surprised at how accurate I am. 😊

I've been talking to my wife about this for a couple of years now (we've been married for 2 years and are going to wait another 2 years to have kids.) My grandpa, 2 uncles, and cousin all built their own houses. Granted the land they did it on was already in the family. So I plan on doing it as well and your time-lapse video helped her realize that it isn't as difficult as she was imagining. My family are all carpenters and I'm actually a math teacher and my wife is elementary, but I grew up working with them. We are really excited about it and have been debt free for 6 months now. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful life by our making for both of you and your three children. To be able to run free, use their imagination, climb, tree, build tree houses, forts to fight off imaginary creatures. Play with their pets, work to keep the animal happy. Great life for your kids. Then there is the HOME you both built with guts, tears, laughter, mistakes, love, ..a family treasure to pass down to them and the kids they will have. Stand up take a standing ovation. Please keep up your story and shared with us. I’m seventy four, wishing I was young again and could be doing what you two are doing. Love love your story, thank you.

There are many ways to own a home without having to have a 30 year mortgage. The way you're going about it is a smart way. You have a rental on your property to offset the cost of the property. You also are building your own home rather than paying someone to do it all. Almost 2/3rds of the cost of a new home is labor. Doing it yourself saves a lot of money. My first single family home I took a ten year mortgage out on it. I accelerated the payments so that I would have it paid off in 5 years. Ended up zeroing out my 10 year loan in 4 years. One does not have to follow the example that so many follow. You two are building a home and a lifetime of memories building your own home. Thanks for sharing video on KZread, it's one of my favorite channels to watch.

I watched two of your videos and now I’m hooked. The one thing that amazed me was how Josh’s wife ( sorry but I dont know your first name even though you are a star!) was so physical doing the work. You must have big muscles the way you tackled the lifting and physical demands. Impressive.

wow, lol, your plan is very much like ours, sell or give away everything and live in an RV while the house is built. Like you said, small house, very small....English cottage small but not tiny house, that's too small. I am so grateful to you and all the other homesteaders and DIY'ers for all you give through your channels, knowledge, experience, motivation, passion and hope. Thank you!

May God bless you and your wonderful family. Erin and Josh, you both are a great match. I didn't grow up on cable, coffee (Starbucks) or any of the frills that are common in the 21st century. It is amazing that you Josh are an electrician and construction worker by trade. These are high earning skills that can help you save money and make money. I am so in awe with Erin for her being able to pick up the skillsets for construction and farming right alongside you. I am very proud of you. That is one long commute from West Virginia to Washington, D.C. - wow!

Great series of videos! I have built my own place and have an RV. I still like living in my RV with my dogs in NE Wyoming just because it is so simple. The debt free thing is a good idea for sure, but folks need to realize that there are two main types of debt. Secured and Unsecured and you need to learn about them as well as the Homestead Law in the state where you live. The entire monetary system in the United States is Debt Based and people need to learn about it. Very Important. At this time there would be little to no commerce to speak of in the US/World without debt/credit and the fractional reserve lending. Only a system reset will change this. The US is in very serious trouble. Impressed with your self reliant frame of mind, fortitude, and skill set to grow your own food. Having some clue of how to survive is critical in this day and age. Look forward to your future videos!
