With only 4 weeks left to winter and the temperatures steadily getting colder we start pushing to close in the deck. Ideally we would like to get the stone on the foundation of our home and bottom of the deck before winter officially arrives. What started at a typical day abruptly takes a turn when Josh is injured and we end up in the Emergency Room.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

Experienced advice: ribs begin to knit together within 2 weeks. You'll feel much better about breathing, etc. & You'll forget. Then something as simple as stretching when getting out of bed or coughing will Crack them again & you're back to square 1. Nurse those ribs for at least 4 weeks & go very easy even after that. Full steam again after 3 Mos. 💕

Yes, after waking up in a helicopter and spending two weeks in the hospital with a collapsed lung, flail chest and almost 3 dozen fractures I can tell you the pain is definitely real. Yes, you will fracture them once or twice more if you aren't careful and it will take longer to heal. Take it easy for the four weeks referenced above.

Age 57, had a horseback riding accident resulting in 6 completely broken in half ribs (4-9) on the left side. 9 days in the hospital and surgery to bring broken ends together 2 months later. @Loretta Stiles I mean, bone pain is hard to get under control, once that's accomplished, keep taking the pain meds as prescribed. @@ember2874 I think a high concentration of vitamin c naturally (orange juice), plus lots of bone soups, Condroitan (spell?) Sulfate, MSM and whatever is prescribed for throughbread (spell 😂) horses these days is suggested. I think also sustaining inflammation reducing meds, but am not sure if fighting a body’s natural response is best. I agree for some, especially if initial healing is not allowed (because he is active 😂) it can be a longterm problem. Also, making sure vit c (healing nutritional) is actually absorbed is critical. I recommend yoghurt to cause absorption, but I have not researched this either. Hopefully, it was bruising, that Will relatively quickly go down that hindered his breathing and the “fractures” are minimal. On top of that, prayer is recommended! 😊

Fractured ribs is serious and insanely painful. Even if its 1 rib or 2 ribs and even more dangerous if 1 rib is broken two places on the bone as it can be fatal (flail as a result). This can happen in car accident when chest wall hits seat belt abruptly. Pneumonia is common afterwards and we all know by now that CoVid loves a person that can't fully be oxygenated. This is serious not JUST a rib fracture.

Have had rib fractures after a fall on ice - big sympathies for sure as it is incredibly painful. I well remember the trauma of a cough or sneeze - hellish! Hang in there Josh and heal up while taking care.

Sending lots of love, hugs and healing prayers. Fractured ribs are extremely painful but heal much quicker than soft tissue injuries especially in the back. Wishing Josh a speedy recovery.
