Hi! Thanks man, for those kind words.

I find you need to be a good swimmer for that last bit back to shore, if you don't time that last run correctly. Also people are a bit nervous about bearing off to get started because they feel they are going further out to sea, but once up on foil you can head back upwind easily and make that ground back up again. 👍

Hi Dan, you’re spot on. Sometimes we need to paddle back and sometimes not. If you can get a good gust you can ride back to shore. I think if you’re navigation skills are good. You need a few sessions to get your head in the game and relax knowing” I got this” 😜🥳🤞

I would love to see a review of your Starboard foils. There's very few reviews of them available.

Hey Kevin, that’s a great idea. I’ve been thinking about making that video. They are great foils. I have the S2000, E1700, S1500, and E1300. Since I got the Axis foils, sadly the Starboard foils are just stuck in my foil bag. They deserve a video. 😇 I’ll look into it…

@@wingfoil_mallorca I look forward to that video. I'm just learning now and ordered a Starboard S-2400 and S-2000. I'm a big fan of their SUPs and their total commitment to quality and sustainability. You may want to check out their new Glider foil, which is designed to compete with your Axis.

Yes, I know about the glider. We have a good Starboard shop here in El Niño Surf Center. As soon as I’m well I’ll give the glide a few runs..hope to make a video to compare it to the Axis foils. Starboard foils are great. The reason we’re with Axis is that Starboard didn’t have any HA foils… Looking forward to test the Glider. Both me and Diane have been on the Starboard boards for years. And they are awesome. I’m sure Starboard will catch up on the HA race soon!

In your other video you said you didn't like the 1050 at all and was a horrible ride compared to the 1150, what are your thoughts now?

Hey Corvus, yes that’s right. My first ride with Axis was with the 1050 and the 460 rear wing. And it was horrible. Also I used the 2022 Starboard 5.8” wing board for the first time. A bit too optimistic…🤦 After some riding with the 1150 and finding my way with the 1150 I tried the 1050 again and then it blew my mind how good it was. There are quite Ström opposite experiences for me regarding the axis foils. But when I got used to them o can say, without a doubt, they are absolutely fantastic foils. Flies fast, have a great sustain and gives you time up riding to do your jibes or catching waves without dropping down. Simply great. Can only recommend you try one out. They are all HA(high aspect) and that makes them a bit tricky to get started, but once up flying amazing foils. Let me know what you plan to do and if you test them. Let me know how it was! 💪💪🤩

@@wingfoil_mallorca great info thanks. There is a guy on youtube "gust hunter" that is a light wind master and he uses the 1400, so i plan on buying a 1400 and maybe a 1050 or 1150. One issue I'm having trouble with is deciding on a carbon axis mast or aluminum. For me weight is really important as I have to walk up the beach while learning. I wonder what the actual weight difference is???

@@colomacountry Hey, I’ll check gust hunter out. Did you mean the Axis 1300? Their biggest low wind foil. That one has an incredible sustain. The 1300 and the 1150 are like big aeroplanes. Great lift but slow turners and this was, in my opinion, too much for me with my 75 kg. The 1050 on the other hand is a great turner, that is one of the reasons I like it so much. It’s versatile in many areas. So it comes down to if you prefer extreme great sustain but slower handling or quicker manoeuvrability and a bit less sustain. Both are great stuff, it’s very subjective what each and every rider prefers. Weight for the axis foil 1050 with 90cm alu mast and black fuselage is 4.5kg. The 1150 with red fuselage and 90 cm alu mast is 5.0kg. The carbon mast is not much lighter than the alu one a friend told me but I have not measured the weight of the carbone mast. But all Axis foils are very well built and have a strong and robust construction. Hence the heavy weight. But they are worth it. 😀
